  • This is the first in a two part video where I go through the front end on my 2008 Yamaha FJR 1300 that I bought in the Fall of 2019.
    This video covers front wheel removal, Wheel balance and Wheel Bearing removal and replacement.

    Hello, I watched the video as a tutorial to remove my front wheel, wanted to verify it was ok to support the front like you did. Also, your comment about putting something between the pads on one side while compressing the other was great, I had not thought of that! Now you know after 3 years your video is still being watched. Thanks for sharing

      Thank you I appreciate the comment. UA-cam has been very helpful for me on some of my projects. I just try to give back a little. I’m glad you found my content useful. Means a lot. Ride safe.

    I know an old vid but thx. Last wheel bearings I did was on a 1977 CB 750 Super Sport ( totally different animal). Yeah I’m old. I was intimidated by doing the wheel bearings on my 2007 FJR. Not now! Thx. again.

    This video FABULOUS for me as I have a front end noise when rolling over 10mph that might be caused by a bad bearing or tire noise. Seeing it on video is sooo much better than digging it out of the shop manual, and more clear as well. Thank you Mr Should-a W-a C-a!!! Well done!!!

    Have you replaced the rear wheel bearing, any issues if so?

      Hello, no, when going through the rear wheel, the bearings felt great so i decided not to do them. My plan was be to revisit that on the next tire change. I gave the book a quick review on the procedure, and nothing jumps out at me as any gotchas. Looks pretty straight forward. just be careful with sensors and wires and torque settings. And the tip of putting the new bearings in the freezer works well for me. Thanks for the comment.q

    Were the new Yamaha bearings pre greased?

    • @SCWMoto
      @SCWMoto  10 днів тому

      @@blacklight4460 the bearings that are installed are sealed so there is no way to grease them so they just go in as is

    Why not use a large bolt and washer then the old bearing on each side to pull the new ones in rather than bang on them. Old bearing will take the stress off the new ones.

      You can do that, press fit them. A little more complicated but its a good method too. As long as you’re tapping the outer bearing through the socket there is really no stress to the actual bearings.
