AHAHAHAHA. "Do you want to go somewhere with Gigi and i?" "Yes" "Great! But Gigi has prior engagements" Brilliant.
Smooth
I wonder if this was inspired by John Green's first date with his wife haha
Sara-Jean Lapitan honestly Darcy upped his game
Sarah Powell when does Jonh mention this?
Martin Coloma Armas, not sure which video he talks about it. But what he says is he had a group text with lots of friends including the yeti and asked if they could see a movie, then he texts everyone but the yeti “not you” so the yeti goes to the movie assuming there will be lots of people but it’s just her and john
i love the way he asks her out, like "do you wanna go somewhere with gigi and me but without gigi?" ahahah
years later and i still can’t get over it😂
HAUSHSUDHSJCSX
he’s such a dork, he still makes me giggle over his little invite
Can they stop with the eye sex? You must know what this is doing to my poor nerves.
I feel you mamma bennet
I read that in Lizzie's Mama Bennet voice.
+Elizabeth James Can someone please tell me where in the book I can find this???
Ocular Intercourse!
such fluttering, spasms and palpitations?
"Well, hopefully it will be a good day...too." OMG DARCY IS HOPING SO BAD THAT LIZZIE SAYS YES WHEN HE ASKS HER OUT THAT IF SHE DOESN'T HE'S GOING TO HAVE A BAD DAY I LOVE HIM.
ANOTHER SHOULDER TOUCH YES I'M LIVING FOR THE SEXUAL TENSION
Zoe what have you done to meeeeee... Their my #1 OTP
This series ended years ago, yet when I see people commenting only a couple months back, I get so happy because even though I'll never get to experience this with the Twitter accounts and fan base, it still matters to people
here you can find the tweets www.pemberleydigital.com/the-lizzie-bennet-diaries/story-lbd/
@@eli_drottningu I just discovered this series a couple days ago, and... OMG I love you! So looking forward to reading the Twitter and Tumblr stuff that goes along with this.
@@haylijah4life884 and you can get the books if you want to know more ;)
Darcy randomly walking in and going "So how are you doing today?" Reminds me of the book Darcy going "I trust your parents are in good health?" "Yes, I thank you sir." "Your sisters, as well?"
Don't get me wrong I love the shoulder touches, but can we just talk about how gentle and amazing his voice is when he says "Lizzie are you alright?" Also the confidence he responds with when she says no one can help her and he says "Yes I can" Ugh, love him
Did you notice how he went in for a hug and then hesitated, at first?
She smiles when he comes in. He's calling her Lizzie now. 2:05 He's showing affection and oh my goodness, guys, this is the episode I have been waiting for since I discovered that LBD existed.
did he not call her Lizzie at first?
@@edengallagher1044 Yeah, I think so
@@edengallagher1044 Nope, he called her Lizzie since we first saw him.
The way he touches her shoulder is simply beautiful...
Right? Every time he does it XD
I KNOW. Dying, And I'm smiling at that while simultaneously cursing Wickam to the depths of Hell.
Ooooh man, that voice.
"Lizzie, I can help you."
*dies*
can we just pause and admire the swagger in darcy's stance when he walks in
I DIED AT THIS
Bro, I went back to see it and his lil hip sway when he stopped
The confidence from being in his comfort zone
i just kinda stopped it at "Apparently Charlotte has called me" and pretended the rest of the video was happy, so I can fall asleep not cursing George Wickham to the lowest pit of hell.
The way he's nodding while she's talking about how badly she needs to get home, like he totally understands how she feels... brilliantly done.
THE SHOULDER STROKE TOUCH THING GIVES ME ENTIRELY TOO MANY FEELS
I CANT HANDLE THIS NOW
ITS BEEN A WHILE SINCE THIS FIRST CAME OUT AND I STILL CANT HANDLE IT
IT'S THE SECOND TIME WATCHING THS AND I STILL CANT HANDLE IT!
@@TemplatesNstuff pls it's my 17th time watching AND I STILL CAN'T HANDLE
I absolutely adore the 3-4 videos Darcy is in during Lizzie's stay at Pemberly... it's over way too soon.
That's why I love the companion novel-- The Secret Diaries of Lizzie Bennet. I listened to the audiobook (Ashley Clements does the BEST character voice) and I LOVE it because it gives us more insight and additional content, like the weekend exploring San Francisco! 😍
@@NaTeesha85 I love that while chapter, too!
I would have watched a hunderd of these
When Darcy says, "Lizzie, are you alright?" at 2:35, that was so incredibly well-acted. Touching, and realistic. And everything she needed in that moment. Hip hip hooray for Daniel Vincent Gordh!
It sounds so soft
honestly, this is one of my favourite moments so far. darcy finally feels confident she kind of feels something for him so he just asks her out but then, before she can answer her world just falls. however, to me, what truly shows how much everything has changed, and kind of confirming darcy was right to think lizzie might have different feelings about him after all this time is the fact she just opens up to him, and he keeps touching her shoulder to kind of grounder her and make lizzie feel better, or mor calm, at least, something that would have never happened around the time he confessed his love for her, and i think it's just wonderful how much she allows him to be close her. that show how much they relationship developed.
Alexandra Corvo ugh, thank you
Everyone loves the shoulder touching in this episode(And so do I) but what gets me every time I rewatch it is Lizzie's tone of voice when she says "Darcy... Thank you." Like I always get teary eyed hELP
SAMMMEEE. AND THE WAY HE SAYS HER NAME... UGH THEY'RE TOO CUTE
because she thinks that it means he doesn't want her there anymore :c
@@anne-katherine1169 really? i think she appreciates how seriously he's taking it
YEAH
Same, that tone of almost longing when she says "Darcy..." gets me every timeee
HE ASKED HER OUT ADFEGDHFJFJJTJF
THAT FREAKING DOUCHE GORGE HONESTLY DUDE
HE TOUCHED HER FREAKING FREAKING SHOULDER, NOPE NOT NOW, WHAT IS AIR?
DAMMIT
Just realized that there is an extended clip of Darcy freaking out over Lizzie touching his shoulder at the end of this vid, when it shows what happened in the previous ep. So cute.
... HOW HAS THAT BEEN THERE FOR TWO YEARS AND I NEVER NOTICED
(apologies for the all-caps but !!!!!!!!!!)
ramywiles I never freaking noticed either! Whaaaaat....
WHAT WHERE!
Very end of the ep! Watch through the credits and focus on the little box that says "previously on" or something like that. JUST LOOK AT DARCY.
I KNOW! Darcy's like, "God, she's touching me. Please don't stop touching me. I love you Lizzie. Please please please forgive me. Please." TOO CUTE!
I love how she smiles when she sees Darcy
Lizzie, you're not poor. You're solidly middle class, but with odd connections to the rich that makes you feel poor. Your phone is a smartphone with a contract. If you were poor, the phone would be a prepaid and you'd still be counting minutes.
I think she's having a play on words.
Ima Pseudonym That's pretty much original Lizzie too.
Orig Lizzie: So poor!
Me: YOU HAVE SERVANTS
@@ZannaZatanna1 i know isn't it crazy? and then those servants are poor but have jobs (and some have families) whereas others didn't..
And she wouldn't be able to afford to live in California of all states
@@Katxo1831 I think the Bennets actually live on the east coast.
Darcy: "Well hopefully it'll be a good day......too.."
Darcy thoughts: "...TOO?? OHNO I'vemesseditupforever. whatifshesaysno. playitcooldarcyplayitcool"
what are you doing in my head when I talk to people
Lizzie getting a new phone that doesn't miss texts is such a perfect way to put the fact that in the book Elizabeth missed Jane's first letter because she wrote the first one in haste and the adress was written poorly so it was misdirected at first.
"Well hopefully it will be a good day" OMG HE'S NERVOUS ABOUT ASKING HER OUT I love it.
You can see how understanding Darcy is about it because he went through the same thing his little sister too. Cute yet incredibly sad :(
I love how she talks about the day being amazing and then is like "My name is Lizzie Bennet and I got a new phone"
Lizzie, in her funny witch voice: It's just so pretty! LOL
I think it's a testament to how much the relationship between Lizzie and Lydia still has to grow between now and the end of the series that at this point, after hearing all about how George Wickham is a predator that preys on and emotionally abuses vulnerable girls, Lizzie still assumes that Lydia was a willing participant.
elwynbrooks very perceptive. I have to say that I missed that. I was just as judgmental as Lizzie at this point. In later videos (or was it the book, hmm...), Lizzie addresses that actually. She calls attention to how badly she's treated her sister. That she can't believe she immediately came to the conclusion that Lydia into this whole thing.
+elwynbrooks I think perhaps it' more that Lizzie thought that Wickam talked Lydia into it more than it being partially her idea. Maybe Lizzie thought that Lydia was getting back at her for the comment she made?
+Marie I actually think that she really thinks she was willingly participating in that. if you remember, at the beginning, we would often hear Lydia addressed as a slut and Lizzie believes those rumors so I think that she really thought her little sister would approve such a video. besides, at the beginning, Lydia just wants fun and being famous on the internet. if I heard someone was a slut and then hear that it's going to be published a sextape of them I would think that they did that on purpose, willingly and all that stuff (no one should think that actually because rumors can and most of the time just are what bad people think about other people but non always the rumor is true)
+Not Only Bookish Stuff That makes me feel sad though. Maybe that is just wishful thinking on my part that I felt Lizzie thought it was George that talked Lydia into it over it being Lydia's idea.
+Marie The next video with Lizzie does imply, at least to me, that she did think that George coerced Lydia into it, and Lydia agreed to it willingly. She never thinks that it was Lydia's own idea. She's angry with Lydia because she can't believe Lydia went along with it.
1:03 Lizzie smiles when Darcy enters
1:09 Lizzie scans Darcy's whole body as he sits
1:24 Darcy says "too", then has an internal freakout
1:37 eye-sex part one
1:39 eye-sex part two
2:04 eye-sex part three
2:48 Darcy strokes Lizzie's shoulder asking her what happened, concerned
2:53 Darcy's hand is still on Lizzie's back
3:33 Darcy strokes Lizzie's shoulder again telling her this isn't her fault
You're welcome.
I watched this entire thing 3 years ago, and yet here I am again. This show is the greatest P&P adaptation I've seen
Their Little Women adaptation was like, THE WORST THING EVER. So many unnecessary changes. Why?! WHAT WAS THE FREAKING POINT?!
Liz Harper I'm not the biggest Little Women fan, so I didn't watch it
+Liz Harper Same channel, different people. Little women had different writers, budget, etc. :)
I know this is years old now.. but watching for what must be the 50th time, I am still amazed at how well they were able to adapt the scandal of running away with a man in the original books to the modern era. Running away with a dude now a days is no big deal, so making it a sex tape was just so brilliant.. and fits with the sleazier George that they created for this!
When I saw him touch her on the shoulder I kind of melted.
"Ugh". Understated title is understated.
Cinema sins buzzer dings
When Lizzie hangs up the phone and Darcy looks at her in agony because he can't help
that's some brilliant writing with using a possible sex tape
I see you leaning into Darcy, Lizzie! #Playa
so many shoulders touch
can't breathe rn
Another example of Darcy taking care of the people he cares about.
He goes in to touch her shoulder so naturally! It's only a testament to how much he has grown individually and how much their relationship has grown. And I'm in love with him, but what else is new
This modernized version of Pride & Prejudice is perfect!
AAAAAH HE IS SO CONCERNED AND SO MANY SHOULDER TOUCHES
OMG. At the start I thought she was excited because she was in love with Darcy and he asked her out.
Does she remind anyone else of Gollum when she's stroking the phone?
"Well actually Gigi can't come." Smooth. And very clever.
The look on his face when she mentions George Wickham.
OMG when he's trying to help I almost cried.
HE DOES THE NECK THING EVERY TIME
I thought the "unspeakably awesome" day had something to do with Darcy. HOW CAN THEY PLAY WITH MY FEELS LIKE THIS?
"Yes, I'm still poor." HAHAHAHA. Oh Lizzie.
Friendly reminder that there's a 99% chance Ashely Clements (Lizzie) is using her I
Under Lizzie's specifications, would this classify as an "okay" day?
sounds like it
Right
This would classify as a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Even according to Lizzie.
if we could all shadow at a company like Pemberley, with a ceo like Pemberley's ...a lot more of us would be in grad school. fact.
Guys it's been over 8 years and I *still* cannot handle the shoulder touches
This is probably one of the best cannon ships of all time.
This episode kills me every time. Third run through and it's still awful and amazing.
"Yes, I can."
HE'S SO DEVOTED, LIZZIE 💙
i love the way that Darcy says the name Gigi
I remember seeing this comment on a rewatch and ever since then i always say Gigi the same way hehe
Rewatching for not the first time and I concur.
SHIP! SHIP! SHIP! SHIP!
I love how Darcy is Developing The Battlefield in his head. When he asks her to calm down, that he will have her flown out on the next available flight and her stuff shipped to her, that was him just doing opening logistics in his head, and he did these dozen or so things in his head before he got the rest of the information. That is a man I do not want to mess with. By the way, by the look on his face as he is leaving to go set stuff up for Lizzie, including having a car for her within 5 minutes, he is already wargaming for the next 5 moves on Wickham. Have to give props to Wickham though, he made a man capable of doing all that come to the inelegant solution he had at the end of this, though it was a masterful stroke, it was inelegant. That is the best you can hope for when pitting yourself against Darcy, make him win with a barbaric pommel strike instead of a gentlemanly Reposte.
Very well said. I love your metaphor.
Are you a writer? Cause this comment is Brilliant
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Darcy touched her shoulder. Big deal. CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW HE KEEPS HIS HAND ON HER BACK FOR THE HALF A MINUTE AFTERWARDS!??!?!?!
Skirt flipping over head just as the senior you have a crush on walks around the corner=finding out there is a sex tape of your little sister that will soon be posted online just as the guy you're falling in love with actually asks you out. Foreshadowing.
LOOOL i love how she's so excited about her new phone i love lizzie bennet and all her nosiness and her financial troubles and confusion about life she's so effing relatable ....why is relatable not a word according to spell-correction btw...lol
HEART
BREAKING
EVERY DAMN TIME
OMG. He was STILL touching her and she even didn't notice that. This is it, my friends.
I was wondering what scandal Lydia would find herself in, possibly prego? I applaud this scenario however, well done LB Diaries!
You HAVE to watch her video diaries. AMAZING acting and utter heartbreak.
Actually of the Bennet sister Jane is the only one who has worried about possibly being pregnant. That is actually the reason she was down her last couple days at Netherfield. She was worried because her period ended up coming a couple days late (to any guys grossed out, four words "grow...up" fill in the blank) and the discussion between Jane and Lizzie was kept secret except for her diary.
Jeremiah90526 Hey, how do you figure that? I feel like Jane wouldn't accidentally get pregnant.
Arub Ahmed It was in The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet. It is at the point right after they get back from Netherfield.
Oh wow! I should read that. Thanks :)
that look Darcy gives at 1:25, like omg why am I so awkward
One of my favorite things about Pride & Prejudice is the pure, soft, gentleness Darcy conveys when Lizzie receives the news about Lydia. This adaptation is one of the best at portraying how much he really cares for Lizzie, how head-over-heels in love.
I mean... When you have to stop the video TWICE, cuz you're almost dying for those moments when Darcy touch the Lizzie's shoulder, you know this serie will change your life. ¡Twice! ¡TWICE! Seriously, this relationship between L-D will make that i die surrounded of cats and a lot of pictures about P&P.
Instead of "Lizzie, are you alright?" I heard "Dear, are you alright?"
He's so concerned! I loooove this so much!
ALL ABOARD THE FEELS TRAIN!!! *TOOT TOOT*
I love how Lizzie checks out Darcy when he sits down and then smiles at the camera like mmhmm
the way lizzie smiled as soon as darcy walked in like AGHHHHH
Lizzie is literally me when I get a new phone.
Darcy's alarmed glance when he hears Wickham's name, given what we now know from Gigi's story, it's just heartbreaking. As upsetting as this part of the story is, I love how gentle Darcy is with Lizzie and how desperate he is to help out. It's very sweet.
The thing I miss the most about watching it in real time was all the supplementals from the characters' social media feeds. Gigi, Darcy, and Lizzie's weekend out around town from their Twitter feeds. Jane's pinterest boards. And Charlotte's actually panicked tweets at Lizzie. The stomach-sinking sensation of seeing the actual horrible countdown website. I haven't been that immersed in a story since.
You have to watch this series a few times to truly appreciate the writing, the acting, and just how meticulously thought out it is. I truly am amazed more people don't know about this, it's phenomenally well done.
Second time through. Still all the feels!!
"No one can help me."
"i can help." The implied 'I will do anything for you my love' made me fangirl so hard.
This is what I love about SLOW BURN gifs. Even the smallest of gestures can set me on fire. A shoulder touch. Ityreally just nothing irl. But in the context of this narrative i. e. A slow burn fic it’s effect is nuclear
This is my second rewatch since the show came out so many years ago and still this episode made me cry. I remember when the "website" went live and my heart just STOPPED. I'm so glad to have been a fan of this show when it was coming out. (AND SO GLAD that I can binge it instead of waiting desperately for the next episode...)
My fangirling senses are tingling.
I need to have a very stern conversation with my college professor... I have been binge watching these since it became an assignment to watch these, and I have been laughing, crying, and fangirl squealing... WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME!!!!!
Watching the series again. This and the previous episode give me life.
I rewatch this episode more than any other. Darcy is such a sweetheart, so instantly practical and loving and wanting to solve all lizzie's problems for her right away I CRY
This episode is still one my my favourites. God, the acting is SOO brilliant and the feels are REAL. I still remember when this came out, I was freaking out for days!
This is too much, I'm here at 4 am in the morning fangirling because of this amazing serie. DARCY I LOVE YOU.
His suffer seeing she worried is SO PERFECT
I just finished Lizzie's Diary entry before this video blog and here are my thoughts:
1. Darcy was wearing hipster nerdy glasses that day because he said he couldn't put his contacts on. Why, you ask? It got me thinking--he was so nervous to go out with Lizzie (The girl he's madly in love with!) That his hands were shaking. Or Gigi kept bugging him, "William! Let's go! I don't want to keep Lizzie waiting!" so much so that he dropped his contact lens into the sink, just gave up and screw it, and put on the glasses.
2. Their interaction has started changing because Lizzie already acknowledged she felt the tingling sensation from when she and Darcy touched. That she missed him shortly after he dropped her off at her place, and that she was actually excited to see him next. She already knew she was starting to like him. I wonder, if Lydia hadn't gotten into trouble, maybe we would be seeing the events of episode 98 sooner. But where's the good in that? Over the next few episodes (and on Lydia's vlogs) we will see one one of the most life-changing events in these characters, and in effect, some of the best, most realistic portrayals of fictional characters ever.
Well done the writing team - I love 'Pride and Prejudice' and multiple times throughout this series, including this episode, I've recognised exactly which scene was being reproduced and had it playing out in my head while I watched the modern version. You've managed to tell a thoroughly modern, original, engaging story, while still keeping true to the original, right down to so many little details.
I appreciate that even in the face of disappointment (not going to the theatre) Darcy is so "take charge" in helping Lizzy! : ) Shout out to all the guys who are like that for their ladies : ) : ) : )
It's sad because he knows exactly how she's feeling, little sister got wrapped up with Dickham and had no idea until it was too late
HAHAHA well played Darcy, well played ;)
yes, still (re)watching this in 2024 and...omg I just CAN'T with the look in his eyes when she's telling him about the situation because he just loves her SO much and he's having to watch her go through nearly exactly the same horrible sh!t that he went through with a younger sister and George Wickham and he absolutely HATES that for her/them but he will do ANYTHING for her to stop her from hurting and going through it...just *standing ovation*
🤝 still rewatching this masterpiece
I just absolutely love the way he comforts her. The back holding, combined with his soft voice, and how he stays calm throughout all of it and has to completely ignore that fact that he just asked her out and he didn't get a response. Darcy is the definition of a gentlemen.
his concern for her is the same as in the book, i love this
Am I the only one who thinks Gigi only told Darcy she was busy so he would ask Lizzie to the theater?
If you watch the Domino episodes you find out that he booked the tickets on a night he knew she couldn't come.
Ha! How did I miss that?!?
OMG Chuck Bass.. ermm no... Darcy, Darcy my dear help ME *----*
OMG YES! I'm not the only one!!!
The absolute confidence with which he says "Yes I can," not overstated but just stating a fact
Ten years later and this video still makes me cry. Simply beautiful and heartbreaking.
it was like a beautiful dream and suddenly ur alarm rings (as lizzie's phone rang) and u wake up to a nighmarish life.....poor lizzie
*creeper voice* IT'S JUST SOOOOOO PREEEEEETY... o.o
"was there something you needed from me?" "no. ..I mean, that is to say, yes" will kill me dead everytime hahaha
god he's so nervous poor thing
UGH the “Lizzie are you alright?” parallels with the episode when he said he loved her and when he came in he was like “are you upset?” BUT this time he’s doing things to help her be less upset rather than just continuing to try and do what he was planning on doing anyway because HE CARES ABOUT HER FEELINGS MORE THAN EXPRESSING HIS ROMANTIC INTERESTS. HELLO CHARACTER GROWTH.
