Why did the manager only hire high schoolers that have sports practice? That’s just poor management on her part.

"You need to make sacrifices for the team!" What "team?" Every time management uses the word "team" it means they're trying to get you to ignore what they and you mutually agreed to. If you give in to their demands even ONCE they know you'll do it again...and again. Don't play that game. Give them a strong, forceful "NO!" right at the outset and stick to it.

And NEVER explain your answer. Otherwise, you'll be hearing things like "there will be other plays to see your daughter in" or "your son will have more games you could go to".

It depends on the job. If you could pull anyone off the street and train them in ten minutes, what's that job worth? What you do think the guy gathering up the shopping carts in a WalMart parking lot should be making per hour? Or the WalMart door greeter? Jobs with no expectation/experience requirements = minimum wages.

With that kind of attitude, they're nothing. They're a manager and a bad one at that. It's the manager's responsibility to hire and schedule according to the needs of the business. It's not up to high school kids to make sacrifices for the "team"
