Just want you to know that I am so lucky just to have discovered you. I am a retired international airline captain now 77 years old. I’ve had a wonderful life. I’ve been very fortunate. Ever since I saw one of your videos, I just wanted to watch more. You are an inspiration to me and so many others. Not all Angels have wings, and this world is a better place because of you. I personally am a better man because of you and your lectures. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’ll be watching, rooting for you and learning. Love you.

When i told my friend about lizzie's story and the video he was like "eh thats the internet for you" -_- It should never be okay, its not right to call someone such things just because you're anonymous. Its stupid and cowardly.
Lizzie Velasquez inspires me to be a better person everyday, she taught me to turn the negativity in my life into something positive, to work my butt off to achieve my goals and dreams and I love her for that.

I can relate to Lizzie. I was mocked, ridiculed, and harassed too. I've been called ugly, retarded (Because I would admit that I have Autism), Special Ed kid, Cringe Kid, Emo because, of my love for EDM music, A waste of fresh air, A disgrace to society, and even a big-mouthed gorilla. It got so bad that one time, I had a kid from my school come to my house with a knife threatening to kill me and my mom actually had to call the school.
When I turned 17, I've finally come to the conclusion that this world is harsh, negative, and judgmental. And the teachers were NO help either. Every time a kid said something to me, and I would try to defend myself, guess who got blamed? Guess who was written up? Me. One time I was at lunch, I was happily eating my food just to have my teacher yell this in front of the WHOLE cafe: "you eat like a slob! I would never take you out to dinner with me!"
Yeah, I've had it bad too but, this makes me feel better that I'm not alone. It just goes to show that this world is hopeless and will never get better.

Wonderful young lady, very inspirational, she fought thru being different, and people making fun of her, making her feel she wasn't good enough. People can be cruel, but there are also good people out there.

I have just stumbled on your story and my heart is broken to think of how cruel we can be to each other, but at the same time you have taken that terrible experience and channeled it into something positive. Your spirt, compassion and purpose burst through. I love your story. You defied the odds, and you are still standing, prevailing, and making a difference. All of us has something that we cannot control, and we have to find the courage to triumph over it, and NOT be a victim, but we cannot do it alone. Bless you, you are a game changer. You are amazing Lizzie. Thank you for sharing your gift, and finding your purpose

I'll come back to this later. Fascinating story. I've heard her tell it before, but it interests me so much because she's made it this far! Imagine, Lizzie could have committed suicide many years ago. Many would say (and did say) it was the best option, it was her only option, it was a rational decision because of the amount of pain and rejection she was experiencing. Yet all it required was a change of mind, of attitude. No one was physically hurting her, swearing at her, rather they were indirectly bullying her, arguably the worst sort, where people say out loud your own fears and thoughts of self-hatred that you've brought into your mind time and again. By changing your own mind, changing what you think on a daily basis, rewiring your brain, you can live, everyone can live, and not just that but gradually, start to live well. Yes, it's a million times harder with a disability / illness / whatever you call it, but it's possible. Lizzie is a miracle, because she rebelled against the natural self-hating and self-destructive mechanism that the brain functions in when faced with rejection from almost all people. But those that didn't reject, but instead showed kindness, even if only a few, were who gave her hope. That there are some people, even one, outside your family, who thinks you're nothing different than anyone, and don't deserve to be treated any worse. That's why if YOU get the opportunity to help a disabled person, or talk to them, in any situation, act immediately on the thought that you can assist this person. Don't wait for your brain to give you a reason not to do so. It always will.

Hey Lizzie , First I'm sure you have already heard it like million times before but you are exceptionally strong , brave and amazing. I have a question for you- how do you deal with situation that isn't in your control? and you can't change it? This gives me so endless frustration and anger. how do you manage it? Hope you're well . Sending big hug from Israel💛

What a beautiful soul is Lizzy and what lessons you are teaching other young people... strength to believe in yourself to not cave to others who are rude and ignorant. Her love of her parents, not sharing what was so hard to bear. Beauty is not just outside looks, she is beautiful in who she is. I love her attitude. Such a beautiful smile. Some of us do not fulfill our mission in life...she truly is a blessing to the whole world. Everyone would be privileged to come to know her

When i was in school i was a bully, i would push, punch, make fun of, put notes on the back, you name it. I was such a horrible little kid back then.. i think i was taking out my anger from home out on these weaker kids at school. It took getting my ass kicked really bad by some older kids that heard about was doing to get me to stop & be respectful . I also tried lsd & mushrooms at 14 & 15 years old, & i think that was what really made the permanent change in me, to see the beauty & love in all people around me, & to see myself for what i was.. just a scared coward

Everyone is a big blob to me until they communicate, until I see their light, their heart. Over the years I've learned the general populations idea of aesthethic beauty could very likely turn out to be not so beautiful. Beauty to me is a feeling. Because as one of my favorite sayings goes, people may not remember what you say or what you do but they will always remember how you make them feel. And LIZZIE in my eyes you care beautiful. You are perfectly you, strong and brilliant. Thats all I believe we should teach the next generations. To appreciate differences in general. To raze the old ideas of norm... Lets make the norm based on the heart, the soul the light of love that lives deeper than the eyes can see.

It is telling that the doctors showed her parents her pic before they brought her in. What is our capacity to accept and absorb the individual differences? She is just further from the mean than most. It is understandable though given our evolutionary need to fit into a group for survival. Her story also highlights the superficiality of lookism. Finally she is fortunate she was loved, some kids feel ‘ugly’ on the inside because they are deprived of love.
