My highschool sweethearts parents had an 83 Z Turbo 2+2. This was in 85. French Beige Metallic with a Burgundy interior. Unfortunately it was an automatic it was still a blast to drive! I used to run errands for her parents. It usually took all day. 🤣😂 I love seeing people tune these. I will always love their look. Probably influenced by my highschool days. Thanks guys for the stroll down memory lane. I am sure that 6 seconds..
I can't believe how this car launches, what stall speed torque converter u running? Trans seems a little soft when shifting gears, luv the video, keep it up!
That last run he hesitated on the green light. That will cost you your 6 in a hurry. Gotta time that green just right or it will never make the time your looking for. With all that said it doesn't need adjustment from where you are I think to hit your time your looking for it is perfectly capable with the way your set up now. Me saying this after probably a year after the video is made LOL. Regardless of how long it has been it's still good for thought. Nice work though really nice.
Actually, the clock starts when the front tires cross the beams, not when the light turns green. Of course cutting a good light wins races, but when going for a number it’s best to just go when the car feels ready.
@@masterofmachines I never knew that I haven't took my car but I was pretty sure that when my brother went several times that was how it was but it was a shootout
I'm surprised that you kept the metal louvers on the rear window considering you stripped the interior to loose some weight. Those louvers are pretty heavy. Is it for better weight distribution?
We like the sleeper vibe. Might try to make the car look a little cooler down the line but that’s not really what we are about. The louvers are actually pretty weightless.
Those louvers weight doesn't matter compared to the parasitic drag they are creating. Will disrupt any chance of laminar flow over the rear windshield. Wouldn't be surprised if you gained .1 with them off.
Ya it ran a 6.9 one time. Could be a 7.0 index car though lol mostly just use it for 11.5 index racing and gapping random Muscle car boys at weekend test and tunes.
Not sure exactly. We’re out of turbo, out of injector, constantly breaking the stock trans and rear axles. I have a th400 and ford 8.8 lying around but not sure it’s worth all that work just to stay L series. Might swap something else in it.
That thing needs a single 2.5" Flowmaster 40 series it wouldn't sound like garbage then. Coming from a big l28 240z guy trust me lol I like a flat top piston , Arizona zcar intake with 394 holley 4brrl setup and single 2.5: flowby...😉😅

Very cool! Thanks for sharing!
Running a 280ZX you guys are making me proud to this day my favorite car I've ever owned what a joy to look at an incredible dashboard
me too!!
Wow! This car is surprisingly good with mods.
How in the hell did you get a stock turbo L series to go so quick??? Stock turbo ? Great build guys! 😃👍
Devil Z
The L turbo is pretty much a very under rated setup overall. Just look at it's records and you will know how insane the z is with it
It’s amazing that your beating high dollar cars with the L.
The elusive 6.99. Make it happen next time guys!

It’s stalled to 4K rpm and yes, the slush box transmission is a huge weakness. I have to go through it every year to keep it holding at all.

What does the rear end look like on your setup. Awesome z by the way.
Thanks 🙏 it’s stock axles and welded diff
Keep plugging away at it. You’ll get there.
Next should be the 4 spd O/D auto from the 83-84 Maxima trans.
This is awesome, is the engine stock in this 280ZX.?
It’s got a mild cam, head studs, and mls head gasket.
I never lost a race and your car nice work bro

@@masterofmachines haha, I get that.
Are they really? I wouldn't think a big metal piece would be so light
@@datsoon9236 they're maybe, maybe 5lbs.
@@DatL24 oh they're seriously that light? I was under the impression that they were heavier

I am from Puerto rico and is all I driver is datsun
Are you using the 3.54 rear from the 83?
I suppose so. The car is an 83 and the rear end is untouched besides the Lincoln locker
Automatics had 3.3 r180. Manual Na had 3.9 and Turbo manual had 3.5 r200's
Where did you get your roll cage?
I made it at home. I posted a video about it last year. It’s posted here if you look back a bit.
This is the l28et right?
Yes, it’s the original stock engine with a mild cam.
@@masterofmachines I have a l28et I’m gonna put in my 260z
Is this 1/8th mile?
Yes
Yo I raced you guys at North Star years ago in rb25 swapped 240sx when I first got it running idk if y’all remember
Hell ya I remember! How’s that thing coming along?

97 mph
@@masterofmachines nice! Any plans to go faster?
