"Peace Sells, But Who's Buying" should be your next song by Megadeth
Saw it live in Portland many moons ago. Best concert Ive been to!
I was just listening to that song yesterday its very good
I LITERALLY requested this in his last community post
And he should listen to the Original version not the remastered version
Next ALBUM, not just the song.
Dave isn't a singer, but his vocals are perfect for this band.
good way to put it
When people say this, I can only guess they've never listened to Dave post Rust in Peace. Hell, Dave in his Gibson interview said he learned to sing better for Countdown.
Dave isn't an amazing singer, like James, but he sure as shit ain't a bad one. Well in the 90's albums that is
@@metetural9140 i have every Megadeth album, and that's jist my opinion
He had his good moments though, during the 90s his voice was his peak (he also sang pretty well during the 2000s)
Sweating Bullets
Rust in peace (Polaris)
Set the world a fire
The difference is James is a vocalist that can play guitar too. Dave is a guitarist that ended up singing. James is a better singer, but Dave's vocal ability fits Megadeth's songs, so it works for him. But Dave is far and away a better guitar player in nearly every measurable way, like him or not.
Dave was lead guitarist untill Kirk came
Yeah and recently there was an interview with Mustaine when talking about his days in Metallica. And he said that James only wanted to sing and they tried to get a rythm guitarist, eventually they didn't get a good guitarist so they told james to try both, so he did, and he played super tight as ususal and Dave got so stunned by the fact that james played and that he was happy by just singing hahaha
I was 15 years old and a huge metalhead when this album dropped, and it was badass! I didn't care about the Metallica/Megadeth feud, it was all about the metal, and Megadeth has always had my respect.
hetfield has the perfect “sinister” voice. mustaine has more of an evil rat lord kinda voice 😂. love both bands. both super badass.
Evil rat lord, that's perfect. I fully believe Megadeth and Rush, huge as they both are (and deservedly), would have been even better with full-on lead vocalists, they're the only 2 big bands whose vocals really dial it down for me. Although the Evil Rat Lord works on songs like this one and the "Hello me, it's me again" one. Would've been cool with Dave as a 2nd/backup singer like Jerry Cantrell for AIC.
"Evil rat lord." Freakin classic. Lol 😆🤣
@@EyeWillBass Those vocals though are what make them unique and instantly recognizable . That would be like listening to Motorhead without Lemmy singing. Was he a great singer ? Hell no, but his voice WAS Motorhead.
@@XA351GT I disagree, I think both are known for being great bands musically above all else. I think good vocals would have made a better package, the cherry on top instead of a drawback.
@@EyeWillBass I guess we''ll just have to agree that we disagree. Just as guitarists have a signature sound that instantly lets you know who the band is singers also have that quality. Many people might say John Bush has a better voice than Joey Belladona but Anthrax didn't sound like Anthrax with Bush on vocals . Had things worked out different Bush would have been the singer of Metallica. They would have sounded completely different without Hetfield's vocals
“In my darkest hour” next! Great lyrics and an absolute CLASSIC. It was a tribute to cliff burton when he passed away!
100% agreed
Never knew it was a tribute. Woah
Oh yeahhhhh
@@Zelestialronin iirc he wrote the instrumental as a tribute but then added lyrics after that have no relation to Cliff.
One of my absolute favorite Megadeth songs. Great song recommendation.
Megadeth forever, Rust in peace takes the throne every time.
That record was basically Megadeth's equivalent to Metallica's "Black Album." Way more approachable than their previous stuff, but still full of great songs. Symphony of Destruction, the titular Countdown to Extinction, Foreclosure of a Dream, Sweating Bullets, Skin O' My Teeth, etc.
Tornado of Souls", that guitar screams epicity. And Dave doesn´t sing, he barks
We need “In my darkest hour”, “Killing is my business…” and “Peace sells”
And Rattlehead
A TOUT LE MONDE
And black friday
@@pri79 kick arse song..that and bad omen

Now that you've heard Symphony, you need to watch the live version from That One Night: Live in Buenos Aires
. The crowd is just incredible and the way they chant "Megadeth" during the instrumental is something that's always stuck with me.
Not even a question. Any true musician will tell you Megadeth.
“Trust” is one of Megadeths best song. Great drum intro and great guitar solo later on.
fan of that album in general
But is very sad song
i prefer wake up dead
that song is underrated today. in my opinion has one of the top5 marty solos.. lucretia is another good one too
Trust rocks
the whole Countdown to Extinction album is a masterpiece...
Oh, hell yeah! Used to listen to that cassette on the bus to and from middle school on my Walkman! Wow! I just showed my age! Ha!
Absolutely love this entire album! Honestly it’s better than the black album by Metallica IMO.
I like count down better than Black Album
That, Rust in Peace, Youthanasia, Endgame (haven't heard it completely yet, but people say it's one of the best) and Dystopia (behind Endgame).
Close second: The System Has Failed
I think you're spot on. Megadeath stands and falls with Mustaines voice. I can absolutely see why people dont like the way he sings but I freaking love it.
Well it’s cause he can’t really sing. But that’s kind of what makes it badass. He adjusts accordingly and everything just seems to fit.
It's about damn time you did a reaction to this classic. Honestly, I couldn't pick which I like better, Megadeth or Metallica, they're both amazing.
I’m a Megadeth girl. Metallica’s concert tickets are just WAY too expensive, but Megadeth keeps theirs priced for the working-folk.
If you ever watch Mustaine’s ability to play them crazy rifts and sing at the same time, it’s “chef’s kiss”. His riffs hit harder and faster.
Dave and whatever guitarist he has with him at the time are just AMAZING to watch live!
FYI, bands/acts don't set ticket prices. Promoters do. Bands get paid a flat fee to perform in a venue, promoters set the price of tickets they think they can sell at for that show.
@@vdawg2224 this
I love both bands but been a fan of Metallica longer and they get the #1 spot for me, sayin that, saw Tallica 3 times, all over $100 probably for the ticket. Saw Megadeth in 2017 for $50 or under, at front rail right in front of Dave, best concert I have ever been to bar none.
It’s bc megadeth is no where near as good as Metallica lol it’s not close
I love both Metallica and Megadeth for different reasons. There's no question that Metallica is more melodic and James' voice is more appealing to a broader audience, but Megadeth's compositions (this song aside) are more complex, and I just dig Mustain's voice because it is so unique.
Dave's vocals are what I personally like the least about Megadeth. I love their instrument tone, and as a bass player I appreciate that the bass guitar cuts through much better in Megadeth's mixes than most of Metallica's studio releases. Megadeth have brilliant musicianship (especially when Marty was on the roster) - Yet despite all this, I always gravitate most to Metallica, and to this day have never felt compelled to purchase a single Megadeth album.
For all of Metallica's faults and low-points with some of their catalogue, for me their high-points still overall outshine their peers.
I just try to avoid listening to St. Anger any more than I already have, and refuse to listen to any more of Lulu than the ~30 seconds that I once attempted out of sheer morbid curiousity. :-)
Omg first time hearing a megadeath song but im with you man I git to hear more if thier songs my pop listen to matalica and ACDC so I like them too but definitely looking forward to more of these guys 🤘🤘🤘🤘🥰🥰🥰🎼🔊🎵🎵🎶🎶

Appeals to broader audience, yes, but Idk about more melodic. Megadeth is pretty melodic

Both 😩🙌🏻 appreciate both bands a lot. So much good music between Metallica and Megadeth
Growing up in this era, I can tell you that I listened and enjoyed everything. I would go to see Metallica in concert one night, then go to Waylon and Willie the next night. We listened to what we felt was good and didn't judge anybody else for not feeling the same way.

Long time fan of both since ‘86 .. 50/50 can’t choose one over the other
This album is from a really interesting period when the big thrash bands from the eighties (with the exception of Slayer) all addressed the question “what comes after thrash?”. Metallica produced the black album, Megadeth did this, Anthrax produced “The sound of white noise”, and Testament came out with “Low” (great title track). All are fantastic, really creative records with shorter songs and tighter structures than on the bands’ previous records. I would recommend listening to some of Testament and Anthrax’s music from this period.
testament has been the most consistent of all the 80's thrash bands. they are still making great albums, and i can't think of any bad ones.
I assume you are referring from 1991 to 1995? This album was dropped in 1991. Same time as Black Album. Testament didn't release Low until 1994. The Ritual was Testaments 1992 album. Anthrax White noise was 1994.
Sound Of White Noise is my favourite Anthrax album. Controversial, I know, but I just prefer John Bush's voice!
@@hellfire1705 Yes. Of course, at the same time bands like Dream Theater were continuing the direction marked out by “And justice for all…”
@@neildavies2276 it’s a great album. “Potter’s field”, “Only” and “Hy Pro Glo” are some of my favourite Anthrax songs.
This song is great, have you heard the live version where people chants MEGADETH to the main riff? it feels amazing you should try it, it's said that Argentina was the first to do that and chanting to that riff is now a classic at their concerts
Some of Megadeth's songs are perfect for Saturday nights when you are home alone working on a project, having a few beers, and just jamming.
Just saw them last week in Thursday in El paso texas. It was amazing! Ive never felted such brotherhood in a live concert with strangers
Yasssss more Megadeth!!!
Dave Mustain used to be the guitarist of Metallica. He even wrote some songs including 4 Horsemen, which he re-worked into Mechanix. You should totally do Mechanix next and compare it to 4 Horsemen.
Mechanix came first BTW. It was on their "no life til leather" demo.
James Hetfield rewrote Mechanix actually, because he didn't want to keep Daves lyrics
James rewrote Mechanix
Which is simply Sweet Home Alabama slowed down
@@FeJzHaLoKlann because mechanix lyrics sucked. I love Dave's lyrics but can't stand that song. Weakest on their debut.
The ending jam to 'Ashes in your mouth' from this album is one of the most incredible jams you are EVER likely to listen to. TRUST ME!!!!
I have been listening to both since I was an early teen. I am almost 50 now. I cannot choose one over the other! I just love both!
Never understood why we have to choose between Metallica and Megadeth. I like them both. I don't know why that would be controversial.
We don’t have to choose.
Likewise! Good music is good music!
In the 80s, when Dave was kicked out of Metallica and went on to form Megadeth, it was a personal feud. This led to the fans being divided into Metallica Vs Megadeth.
Fast forward a few years, Dave has reconciled with Metallica, and fans are happy. So now, most Megadeth fans are also Metallica fans, and vice versa.
@@yannickvaz694 I appreciate you posting that so people would know. I'm an aging metal head and remember when it happened and Dave forming his own band. I've never understood the schism of fans though. If folks want to take sides that's their decision but I still don't get it. You are the only person who gets to decide what you like. So don't restrict yourself for other's sake. That's for everyone not a particular individual.
@@Madashell-jh5xn It's fanbase mentality (as I like to call it). Any opinion or feud which a celebrity (be it musicians, movie stars/directors, or even sports personalities) has, gets amplified massively by their fanbase. If a celebrity says "I don't like [____]", their fanbase says " [___] is the worst thing to exist". I've never liked this way of thinking, and personally I've always stuck with my own opinions rather than bandwagon with others.
megadeth 100 percent , consistent intensity , nonstop badass riffs and leads
Thank you! Finally someone who appreciates Mustaines complex writing and composition.

I was going to say the same thing Peace Sells changed my Metal life.
Dave Mustaine was instrumental in the formation of Metallica, his guitar playing is top notch, lightning fast. Look in the liner notes for Kill ‘Em All and Ride The Lightning, the songs he’s associated with are blistering. Motorbreath comes to mind. My favorite Megadeth album is Rust In Peace

Dave Mustaine (Lead Singer and Lead Guitarist of Megadeth) was the Lead Guitarist of Metallica back in the 80's. He was kicked out due to substance abuse (if you can imagine that). He has writing credits on Kill'em All and Ride the Lightning which he will not relinquish.
Love the chugging!!
🤘🤘
i dont even like to compare megadeth and metallica, they are both amazing in their own ways, i enjoy both equally, even tho metallica was my gateway to metal.
Used to be Metallica for long long time but currently I prefer Megadeth. But I listen to both fairly equally tbh. I don't like the argument though, it was a shame to lose Dave as a guitarist in Metallica but just as grateful we got a kickass band out of it. Kirk have his flaws and technically inferior to Dave, but he has written some of the most memorable and iconic solos of all time. So no matter how you look at it, where one's have it's weaknesses the other have it's strengths. And they share a lot too. It's a preference but cab't go wrong with either over the other but deserves equal respect.
I prefer to compare Dave and James. One is a technician on the guitar doing both great solos and awesome Rhythm, the other has a naturally stronger vocal style and is a world class Rhythm guitarist. Legends of classic Heavy Metal.
To call Kirk inferior technically to Dave is going way out of line. Dave is an excellent rhythm player and song writer but when it comes to solo's his bag of tricks is very limited and he often sacrifices melody for aggression and speed. Kirk's solo's fit the song and have memorable melodies and he keeps up with James on rhythm play no problem. I love both Metallica and megadeth equally for very different reasons. If you really want to feel the music, the lyrics, the message go metallica. If you want technical riffs and songwriting with blistering (marty) solo's and metal attitude go megadeth.
Blitzy: I agree. Dave could never compose solos like Ride The Lightning, Fade To Black, Creeping Death, Welcome Home (Sanitarium), Master Of Puppets, Disposal Heroes, The Thing That Should Not Be, Orion, Blackened, One, The Shortest Straw, The Frayed Ends Of Sanity, Dyers Eve, The Unforgiven etc. Dave is great, but he does not use that much melody in his solos. He's never written a solo close to any of those I mentioned. He is all speed and aggression. I like both bands and both Dave and Kirk.
As a strictly lead guitarist Kirk is superior to Dave. But as an overall guitarist and metal songwriter Dave is superior to Kirk.
That’s also why Dave hired legendary lead players to be in Megadeth. Marty Friedman, Chris Poland. Kiko, Chris Broderick. These guys all embarrass Kirk and Dave on leads lol
I am HUGE into separating art from artist but both of these bands over half the course of my life are testing the shit out of the practice. Metallica started it with the Napster thing which if we're honest is a huge reason why where in the DMCA heavy world where in now where we can't even legally record tv shows or mix tapes anymore, you can't even livestream with music anymore in most places all because they had a piss fit about money. Now we have MD kicking out Ellefson because he did some Rockstar shit and they got scared of being pound metoo'd, and his "brother" Mustaine is acting like a real bitch about it which considering what he's just been through now isn't the time to burn bridges.
Brings me back to the Guitar Hero days
Oh how I long for those days again
That whole album is 🔥
This is actually one of Megadeth's simpler songs, though it's still badass. If we were taking like Old Metallica versus Old Megadeth, Metallica wins. But taking their whole discographies into account, Megadeth stayed kickass consistently whereas Metallica has had a lot of ups and downs with their sound.
Amen to that
Hell no old Megadeth > old Metallica
Lars told Dave Mustaine to take more risks as a band hence him making the album "Risk". I love both bands but Metallica is my #1. They're far more diverse with their music and weren't afraid to try different styles, even if that meant losing some of their fan base. Both bands kick ass and absolutely can coexist! 🤘🏽

The first Megadeth album really caught my attention in the 80's just after Mustaine had left Metallica. Listen to Looking Down the Cross as is such a brilliant tune!
yes, Yes, YES! A thousand more times YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSS! It is the best Megadeth song that nobody talks about and is better than than damn near all of them. It's on par with Holy Wars for me... not as thrashy or musically impressive, but just fucking awesomeness from beginning to end. Those opening notes still give me goosebumps sometimes, even after a 500? a thousand? listens.
Dave's voice is amazing! It is so metal! Grimy, gritty nasty...perfect for metal. It fits Megadeth's style very well. I admit when I first heard it it was different and I was like huh ok. But after you listen to more Megadeth you really appreciate its uniqueness and just the pure perfection his voice has. I am not at all saying that you have to learn to like it but you appreciate it more after you listen to more of their music!

Dave admitted himself that he wasn’t really a singer but none of the people they auditioned fit the songs he wanted to make.
I heard somewhere (think it was an Ellefson interview ?) That they were going for band practice and someone who they'd chose to sing didn't show up, so Dave taped the lyrics to a mic stand and started singing which Ellefson thought sounded killer. Something along those lines from memory

I cannot choose one band. I love Metallica and Megadeth. There are elements similar in both bands, but there are also a lot of differences between them. It's like choosing between a salami pizza or a bacon pizza. Sometimes I want one more, sometimes the other. But I know that I will like both of them for the rest of my life.
You should’ve done the live version from Buenos Aires!!!! So much energy!!!
Really confused. Followed Alex back when he listened to the rust in piece album and all he could do was praise it so highly and drop his jaw like no one else ive seen before. Now he comes across as if he was never impressed by Megadeth in the first place. No hate, but its apparent how ingenuine alex's reactions could be. I like both bands equally, this is just an unbiased observation.
Cause now he's herd a couple Metallica songs and a album or 2 which are there best the old Metallica bet if herd the albums after the black album he would think differently, just like he did Slipknot vs Pantera u should here the things he said comparing the 2 in favor of slipknot and honestly u can't compare them 2 Pantera blows them away in every category to me and my point u can't compare 2 bands when u have only herd 3 or 4 songs by one and 15 for the other
There some serious clickbait fuckery going on in this entire channel.
The song isn’t that good it’s corny dude. Go listen to blackened or fight fire with fire and then come back to this weird shit
@@youcoofy1404 comment referred to alex's viewpoint on the band not this song
Metallica did 7 years of great music... Megadeth and Rust in Peace is so much more...
Clearly I prefer Megadeth. I love the dave's voice and his way to interpret the songs, kind of playing a role.
