You're harder on this one than the other reviews I have seen which mostly point it as too repetitive. If you're getting tired of Xcom-style strategy it might explains why ^^ About the art style, it's mostly personnal preference, but it's true that it's odd to go for a stylised look on an already visually distinct franchise like 40k. About the DLC they just announced one, with dreadnoughts
Yeah unfortunately by the time I recorded and uploaded the review, they announced the dreadnought DLC. I still think the game can use a multiplayer mode or maybe a custom skirmish mode to play with the nurgle units and maybe some of the Khorne units. Regarding the x-com gameplay, I think it would've worked if it didn't have these issues: - 4 person squad limit (Original Sin 2 does this better) - Very Low enemy variety - Frag grenades being very OP, especially early on - The Chaos bar on top - Excruciatingly long average mission time Also just to add on a bit to it, I enjoyed Mechanicus a ton more compared to this one, and that one was very similar to xcom combat without taking everything verbatim.
I like the look of this one (feels right compared to the 90s tabletop version, 3rd ed I think?), shame it doesn't seem too hot. Might still give it a shot after Chaos Gate though
Repetitive, cartoony, and unfortunately Space Marines again feel too weak. Mechanicus has been the best done thus far, imho, despite it too being a bit cartoonish.
Regarding Inquisitor Vakir's unlikability, I've noticed in most 40k stories, the Inquisitor was always kind of an asshole. 🤣
They definitely got that part down, so I can't fault them for that.

I agree. Mechanicus is far from a perfect game, but it is far more enjoyable to go through.
