I love it when Jay gets all wound up about a truck or car, you can feel the passion for his job. I think the idea about a truck museum would be awesome, I started driving a tow truck back in the 80s it was a Holmes unit similar to what is on that Ford great vedio and thanks BTW you should find room for that special tow truck!
Another one that juices up the nostalgia in me! This truck is one sweetheart, and an absolutely awesome color for its era. G.M made quite a few in this light blue as well .... Not so certain about Dodge .... I'm thinking Dodge was more into the red, dark green and darker blue ... (however I could be wrong). I do remember riding with my grandfather in a late-40s Ford to trade to a new GMC (1952 I think), and our new GMC was this light blue. I cried as I watched our old Ford disappear out if sight as we pulled away! Lol ... Having been born in 49, I remember well these early 50s models ..... lots of years and memories since those precious years, when the world was a little different. I forwarded this to a friend who operated a roll-back for years .... I'm sure he's getting real enjoyment from this. Great, nicely restored truck and very well represented. Thank you for sharing!
Magnificent wrecker truck, and if my father were still alive; he passed back in 1984, he'd buy this in a flash! He owned a Paint & Body shop (for over 40-years) that also had a towing service - and this would be right up his alley! Also, thanks for sharing the story of the little 5-year-old boy and his dad - it really hits home for me too, and it brought back a lotta great memories of my childhood with my dad. _PS - hope you kick off the "working truck" project - maybe you'll get something retro in that's related to my business (Commercial Vacuum & Street Sweeping) for an immediate sale!_ Cheers,
Wow wow what a 😎 truck, flathead v8 gives a great sound, thanks Jay grams president of volo auto museum and russel for perfect photografy 🤟 😊 😊 😊 from tom your friend now and always 🤩 🤩
What I want to know is what they did about the Firestone RH Centerlocks - they look original, but those are impossibly dangerous to work with, and illegal in many states. Riding the struggle bus myself with my '51 F3 trying to source alternatives that look period correct.
