The pinky is a reference to "the red string of fate". A very popular reference to love or destiny in many Asian cultures and folklores, but known mainly through romantic media from China and Japan. You are essentially tied to someone who is your fateful choice, not necessarily always romantic, since counting on which version you know you can sometimes break and tie to others for many reasons. In this case it is most likely symbolic to their struggling relationship and Stolas wanting to start anew by breaking the bind and wanting to give Blitz the chance to decide his own fate and their relationship. It could be cute if they bring it back in some form of them mending the string.
I'm pretty sure in this case it also doubles as a representation of their contract - which is the thing he's resolved to break off by giving Blitz the crystal.

Paranoid DJ is such an underrated artist, I hope people watching this see the credits. He wrote the song almost 2 years ago as a fan song and I can't help but feel people still don't know who he is, even if his song is now cannon.
I only realized after I initially reacted that this was a cover/new cannon version of this song! I hadn't heard it in quite some time, but wow they are very talented!!

I'm so glad they got in touch with the original song creator and made this official lore. It's such a pretty song.
I love that their Full Moon Arrangement is signified by String of Fate imagery. Because compatible or not, it's the Grimoire that brought Blitz back into Stolas' life and it's the Grimoire that has kept him in it. Stolas is essentially giving Blitz the chance to choose his own fate by breaking that tie. And he's doing it on the very off chance that Blitz will choose to come back to him without it. Honestly, I feel like a lot of people don't realize just how much strength and determination it is taking Stolas to do this. I've seen it characterized a lot as "Stolas is giving Blitz the choice to see if he sticks around" which... yes. But it's a little more complicated than "If you love something set it free and if it comes back to you..." etc. Stolas is, and you can see in this song that he is *very aware of the fact*, not giving Blitz a choice as much as he's giving him an *out*. He's not operating under the assumption that Blitz will take the crystal and choose to stay involved with him. He's not that foolish, and we see in this song for the first time that he's got Blitz clocked. The walls, the shutting out, the lack of communication, the self-hatred as a survival mechanism. He is giving Blitz this out *knowing* that it is very, very likely Blitz is going to take the crystal and abandon him. And he's still going to do it for the exceedingly slim chance that this will leave a door open.
I really am worried for him. If this desperate, last-ditch attempt fails, he's going to be in rough shape.
Very well said, and I don't even think he expects that much of a slim chance he will come back TBH. He is doing this because he loves him and that comment "Don't try to act like this thing between you and me is anything besides you wanting to F me."
The way I see it. He is doing this knowing fully that Blitz will never come back or look his way again. 🥺😭
Once my mother told me

Its not that he is trying to decide if its the right thing to do. Its that he knows it is but is scared of the consequences. He is effectively giving Blitz the ability to cut ties with him if he wants to. And he is struggling with that and desperate for him to look his way. At the end of the events at Ozzie's in season 1 Blitz could not make eye contact with Stolas. And Stolas is desperate. Consider that he has lived all his life as sheltered by and immersed in power. Controlled by that power he had never experienced actual love before. And once he met Blitz he felt actual love. But he didn't know how to approach it. So he initially used what he knew which was power. He bound Blitz to him by way of Blitz's need for the Grimoire. But after Stolas severed his connection to his wife, which had always been a loveless and abusive relationship, he realized how his using the Grimoire was destructive for Blitz and had to end. But again due to his lack of experience he had no idea if Blitz would stick around after that tie was cut. And its killing Stolas not knowing.
Good characters can create a sympathetic bond with the audience. Truly great characters create an empathetic bond. Stolas is a truly great character with a great performer behind him.
some ppl say its the red string of fate but I disagree I think it's meant to symbolize their promise/contract because its attached to their pinkies and Stolas is about to make said contract no longer binding for Blitzo hence the crystal and the string breaking.
Stolas is sacrificing their bind so Blitzo is no longer obligated to keep up his end of the deal meeting him every harvest moon (this is also why the moon symbolizes Blitzo here)

I very much empathize with Stolas, it IS conveyed astoundingly well. I'm not ashamed to say this made me flat out cry.

I think this video is definitely showing that emotional and mental preparation Stolas is doing before he actually goes through with this decision to give Blitzø the way out of their contract. He knows it’s what he needs to do but he doesn’t know how it will play out. He also needs to actually take that big step and actually talk to Blitz about his feelings for him. He hasn’t done that. For sure it’ll be an emotional episode.

To me the string symbolizes both the string of faith and their "pact" for the Grimoire that keeps Blitz to come back to Stolas if he wants to keep his business running, by offering the Asmodean Crystal to Blitz, they can end their monthly arrangement, and thus cut the string that keeps them bound together
Hold up. After watching this like 50+ times. I wonder if there is also symbolism in the Moon being TINY in the beginning. Then the same size as him as he talks about Blitz's life and walls he built. Then so GIANT the Moon blots out the galaxy and he can barely reach it.
Most likely, showing how the power dynamics changed. Stolas had all the power over blitz because of the book, but now once stolas gives blitz the crystal it will be an equal playing field for blitz, but for stolas, blitz will be the one in power over their relationship since he can decide if they stay together or not. It's so clever.
I think most importantly, Stolas feels tiny at the end as he begs Blitzo to look his way, but with the size of the moon and the tinyness of Stolas, how could the moon possibly even notice the owl drowning in the water where Stolas can only see the distorted reflected light of the moon.
I think it represents how important Blitz has become to Stolas. At first it was just a little crush, then an infatuation, and now he's everything.

Yeah, this is why I want to praise Vivzie non stop. It also makes me feel bad for all the critisisms, or even worse hate, she’s gotten. Because this is amazing.
While some of the critiques are completely justified and are needed as feedback for when they release Hazbin, it still pains me the amount of hate she gets.
Absolutely. Every creator big and small learns from the journey and there will always be various road bumps. But I think for her origin story and everything what they have/are accomplishing is absolutely amazing.

@@malkariss Sadly, there have been episodes of Helluva boss that I’ve wanted to completely skip because they were either unfunny, didn’t continue the story properly or just dragged.
But when she’s at her best like this, in episode 7-8 or s2 episode 6-7. It’s gives me high hopes for what she has in store for Hazbin Hotel.
I enjoyed all the reaction videos you have for Helluva. There's a new trailer for the second part of season 2, we're getting 5 more chapters this year and we got the months every one will be released. We'll get one now during May, and it's about the full moon and Stolas and Blitzø, it seems everything is going down to get better later, and it's gonna be a good one full of feeligs. I would love to see your reaction to the traier, and also to a short animation of Millie and her sister that was released recently.

7:50 I believe the word you were looking for was "Empathize". You could also use "Sympathize", but the definition you gave is more in line with empathy. Empathy is the ability to understand and feel others pain or feelings, even though you're not actually, physically, feeling what they feel. Meanwhile, sympathy is the ability to understand and relate to the experiences/feelings of others, without going through those things yourself. Very similar words that can often be used at the same time.
For example: Say you have a fear of needles, and someone tells you they had to get a shot that day, and it freaked them out. You can relate to the feeling, knowing you probably would have freaked out too, so you sympathize.
Alternatively, if you flinch and suddenly imagine what the needle probably felt like going into their skin, or feel the fear they might have felt in that moment, you are empathizing with them.
So, for me, the string isn't a string of fate, but symbolizes their Deal. So the breaking it is giving Blitz the crystal, and saying he no longer needs to put out to get the book, he is no longer tied to Stolas. Then he jumps up to try and reach the moon, meaning he plans to reach out to Blitz to ask for a real relationship, and not one tied to an exchange where Blitz would feel obligated to comply.
"So I'll grant you this mercy, this bind on our souls needs to end." Is him breaking the deal, so Blitz can freely make his own choice about Stolas.

The string on the finger is referencing their contract as the entire song is about breaking the contract to hopefully fix their relationship

Being able to feel another being's pain and understand it is called "empathy"... So, not correct to say that you "pity" or "sympathize with" Stolas, but rather that you empathize with him... And I cannot help but feel mildly concerned that the word slipped your mind. Like, is our society really making empathy an alien word and/or concept to us?
