It can be done with any HF machine, it doesn't have to be a pilot arc machine. Solder on a wire just as you did and run that wire to your ground clamp, it tricks the machine into thinking the tip is touching the work piece...use #12 wire. I run the cheapest pt 31 that I can get because I like them, they cost about $12 and the consumables are dirt cheap.

yes, have your software turn on a small relay(5v) and work the torch start via the contacts

the connector with the 2 pin plug on the front for the machine turns on the pilot arc.

if you need a PCB made, I can mechanically etch from a desktop cnc machine (LPKF converted for mach3).

Hello Jerry can u please tell me which wires to tap into to make it work on my CNC table cause I see u have a cut 50dp also I just got mine

Can you use a drag tip on a pilot arc machine?

the relay contacts will work just fine, as it will be acting like the microswitch

    thx Jerry for information
do you think it would visible to tap the wires inside the machine coming from the connection it self, if my cable is long enough then I will try it that way
Cause the CNC box is connected on leg of the table and the cutter will be down there next to it also
I tell you simadre won't tell me shit I wrote to them and the tec says try it you r on your own 🌪then has the nerve to say, my best regards. Ah sorry for the other stuff I added.

tap into to trigger there is a micro switch with 2 wires, use these.

Don't understand, what changing I must to do for arc pilot, only contacts changing or head of the torch too? The pictures not shown it, sorry.

the duty cycle on the machines is not long, cutting small and or thin parts in a cnc would be ok, but long term use
EX: 10min will come close to a burn out on the electronics.

What is a pilot arc machine? I thought we could just turn off the HF wires and ground the tip of the torch.

I was converting a nonpilot arc torch to a pilot arc torch and not the machine.

People want to know how to make a non pilot arc machine into a pilot arc machine. First off you do not want to run your full cutting amperage as the voltage for the pilot arc. I purchased 2 10 ohm 200 watt resisters with heat sinks . Second, like a TIG welder the plasma torch is (-) negative and your ground clamp is positive. Look on your cut 50 see the connector for the pilot arc is red. So if your wire going to the pilot arc is red or positive the torch would need to be negative otherwise nothing would happen. No arc in the cone. The main reason you want a lower amperage arc as your pilot is you want the pilot arc to shut off quickly otherwise the arc will start cutting through the cone your little wire would just burn up. I copied my system from another guy on UA-cam and it works great. As soon as your tip gets close enough to the work the higher amperage takes over the arcing and the pilot arc shuts down. It will turn back on if you pull the torch away from your work and keep your finger on the trigger. I don’t even have a plasma cutter, I converted or added Tig and plasma to my Jeggs 180 amp MiG machine.

Mark - thanks for that additional information. I am attempting to find a straight torch that supports pilot arc for the CUT 50D that is also a pilot arc machine. I have also read about using the resistors to keep the abuse down on the tip during ignition until contact. I am going to guess the resistors will go inline between the pilot arc terminal on the machine and the lead line into the torch right? Would you mind posting the other video's link so I can also benefit from it? And any clue on where to find the straight torch (for CNC use) would be great too. Thanks again sir...

ya, keep cutting time short, and let the nozzle cool between cuts, you should be ok.
