I don’t understand... is mrs Coulter "good" or "bad"? She love Lyra? She helps her? Is she cruel or not..?
I think she is all of this together. She's a person who suffered a lot in her life and found in power a old friend. She colder her heart and mold herself to survive in a man's world. I do think she loves Lyra and eventually will help her, but right now she just doesn't know how do to it or be her mother. She wants to, but she's is so blind by her own beliefs of what is right that she is unable do choose a side. Being constantly in a conflict with her own between love Lyra and be a good mother or follow her plans, because she felt wrong having those feelings towards her daugther, don't think that she was planning in getting attached to the child at all and I think she is starting to realize that what she is doing is not right at all.
Mrs C falls into the category of doing the right thing in the wrong way. x
