    Marie Curie isn't "kind of " important she's really important she won two Nobel prizes, one for physics and other for chemistry, her work has permitted a lot of advance to science and by consequence to our society so please give her the spot she deserves.

    There is another use for this expression, in the sense of "it is a type of thing we don't know/understand." Possibly an American use, so frequent in Star Trek Voyager (where they stumbled on unknown stuff all the time) that there is a 10 min. long supercut of those scenes titled: "Supercut of every time someone says 'some kind of...' on Star Trek: Voyager."
    (Just in case, that TV series was about a starship which got lost very far away from known space - that's why they kept finding unknown things :-)

    I worked as a salesperson on a sales floor and on my FIRST day, my sales manager told me to totally LOSE saying "sort of, kind of" COMPLETELY. He said just say "it is a " And he was right. I hear people using these terms constantly and 99% of the time these phrases can be left out entirely.

    Sir, A girl was passing by, then a boy whispers into his friend's Ear saying " the girl a beautiful " and that friend says " sort of " ..later on, I don't know how it happened the girl got angry because of " sort of " ..so, was it a kind of denial or does it have a negative connotation?

    • @engvidAlex
      @engvidAlex  6 років тому

      It's like saying "a little." The friend didn't want to fully commit to the idea of the girl being beautiful. He only "sort of/kind of" agrees with the friend...not entirely, but a little.
