- Does the United States and its Allies Weaponize the Philippines and Taiwan to counter China's Aggression in the Asia Pacific?
Maritime disputes across the vast South China Sea have intensified up in recent years as an increasingly assertive China militarizes disputed islands and confronts its regional rivals over their competing claims in the strategically important and resource-rich waterway.
The Philippines faces a formidable threat from aggressive and bullied China in the disputed West Philippine Sea with provocative action of the Chinese coast guard and Militia vessels against Filipino fishing vessels and coast guard, which could spark a war between the Philippine Navy and China’s People Liberation Army.
Taiwan also faces a possible invasion from China, with Beijing imposing its one China policy by force if Taiwan will fight against Unification. Cross-strait tensions have escalated since the election of Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen in 2016. The United States vows to protect the Philippines and Taiwan's Sovereignty in the event of a foreign invasion of its territory or an attack on its military.
The US, which has armed Taiwan with everything from air defense systems to anti-ship missiles to fighter jets, is not required to intervene if China invades Taiwan. But President Joe Biden has broken away from strategic ambiguity and said that the US would come to the island's defense if China invaded.
It means that if a fight breaks out over the South China Sea and the Taiwan Strait, it is a battle between China and US, - the world’s two most powerful militaries. Though China's actions have stirred fears of a possible Chinese attack, the US military assesses that an invasion of Taiwan and disputed South China would prove extremely difficult for the Chinese military.
It would likely invite intervention from other US military allies from Japan, the Philippines, South Korea, and Australia. Which strains the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and creates political and military risks for Chinese leader Xi Jinping and the ruling Chinese Communist Party.
Today, China's biggest concern is the presence of the United States in the region. The U.S. Has 750 Overseas Military Bases and Continues to Build More to Encircle China.
The United States struck a deal with the Philippines earlier this year to expand its military presence in its former colony to four additional bases, part of a years-long Pentagon buildup in the Asia-Pacific region meant to counter Chinese influence. The U.S. has about 750 overseas military bases in more than 80 countries.
In Asia Pacific alone, with 120 active bases, Japan has the highest number of US bases in the world with over 53 thousand troops, followed by South Korea with 73 bases with over 26 thousand troops, Australia has 7 US military bases with over a thousand troops. The Philippines hosted 9 US military base, and Taiwan and Singapore also hosted at least US military bases.
Another concern of China is the first Island Chain, where most of these countries and territories are US Allies. To break this dilemma, China wants to control Taiwan and the entirety of the South China Sea to have greater access to the pacific.
Geography affords the U.S.-Japan-Philippines-Australia alliance, signal abundant opportunities to make trouble for the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), denying China’s military access to the vast maneuver space of the Western Pacific while hampering its movements up and down the Asian seaboard. Fortifying the offshore island chain while deploying naval assets in adjoining waters could yield major strategic gains.
Yet the Philippines archipelago and Island of Taiwan is the most strategic portion of the major part of the first island chain, which refers to the first chain of major Pacific archipelagos out from the East Asian continental mainland coast. Currently, the first island chain is the most effective point to counter any Chinese invasion and expanding influence.

Actually, the WPS or West Phil. Sea is our 200 nm. Which is our EEZ and outside of our WPS is the SCS or South China Sea... And in between those bodies of water is an invinsible international line, which is the gate way of all Commercial Cruise Ships, Tanker ships for oil and water supply and al merchant ships... Which China is trying to control and own... Just for themselves....

Should the Philippines reciprocate its visa policy?
I've seen a lot of Filipinos wants their country to reciprocate its visa policy where citizens of countries that do not allow Filipinos to enter without a visa should not have the privilege to enter the Philippines visa-free.
Many Filipinos finds it unfair that these countries can easily enter the Philippines without a visa, while Filipinos need to obtain one and often struggling, which makes them feel discriminated against.
Currently, citizens of over 157 countries can enjoy visa-free entry into the Philippines, while Filipinos have only 69 visa-free access destinations. This made the people frustrated, saying if the Philippines offered visa-free entry to most of the countries and welcomed them with an open arms, but these countries do not give the same privilege to Filipinos and give them a hard time to enter their country.
Due to this, they want to scrap visa-free entry to them as a return, except to other countries that allowed Filipinos to enter without a visa. This will ensure a reciprocal visa policy and fairness between the Philippines and other nations.
There's another reason why many Filipinos wants to scrap visa-free to foreigners. Is it also because what they do in the Philippines, a lot of them came as sexpats, pedos, pinoy-baiting vloggers, poverty porn vloggers, and other things that bothers Filipinos and the country.
Now, let me repeat the question. Should the Philippines reciprocate its visa policy? Let me down below.

Older maps show that these islands belong to the Philippines vs China's Ten-dash-line. So it must be called the West Philippine Sea and not South China Sea. China's claim of these territories started in 1952, using their Nine-dash-line (now 10-dash-line). They previously said that it must be followed because that map is older than today's map used by the modern world. However, there are much, much older maps that show that these islands belong to the Philippines.
In 1734 Murillo Velarde Map, the Philippines' oldest map, clearly shows that that Spratlys and Scarborough Shoal were part of the Philippine territory as early as 1734. In 1752 East Indies, published by Thomas Jefferys, also shows the Spratlys being part of the Philippine territory. Same for 1785 Isole Filippine by Antonio Zatta, showing these islands belong to the Philippines. And many more older maps show the same.
