SPEAKING ONLY CHINESE To My Wife & In-laws For 24HRS
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- To show off my Mandarin skills, I decided to only speak Chinese for 24 hours to my wife and in-laws in Singapore. We normally only speak in English so this is a bit of a challenge for me. But I've been studying Chinese using duolingo and online tutor. It shouldn't be too difficult, right?

Thanks to my in-laws 😀
Ah boy boy why can not see your's cute cute mother in law face and father in law face leh. We so curious hahahaha 😂😂😂
Hahahaha 🤣😂🤣 grape 🍇$6.90 ah boy boy said $69. I wonder why so expensive. So funny 🤣🤣😂🤣😂🤣
I am a Malay Singaporean and it's hilarious that I know what your MIL is saying more than you do. Thank you Chinese friends
Ask him to do Malay video nx time..
Woah I’m quite impressed at how you already know how to use phrases like 计划 (jì huà), 日常 (rì cháng), and 兴奋 (xìng fèn), keep it up ghib!
True that but some of those words like 日常(にちじょう) are also in Japanese with similar meaning
It was such a hoot to see you try to apply classroom Chinese to our daily use Singaporeanised (read: rojak) Chinese. lol. Kudos for trying and it's so heartwarming to see your fabulous relationships with your MIL and FIL. My sides ached with the laughter when your wife explained that 'hao lian' is actually Hokkien (Chinese dialect), and not actually Mandarin. Welcome to our rojak Chinese; you've learnt Singlish, this be your next challenge.
kepala pusing is malay lmao.
Hahahha I just love your confused look when talking to your mom on the phone! Cracked me up but really good effort on your part
1:40
Ghib: I am hungry
Subtitles: I am *MAD*
XD hungry man is angry man
Ghib:”how do I say wake up in Chinese”
“Wake up Liao”
Hahaha
So representative of a true Singaporean Gen Z's command of Mandarin. The E8/F9 for Chinese kind.
@@kageyamareijikun llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
This is on point!
"I'm scared"
"Then you don't eat lor"
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Brutal!
This my everyday life sia
You mother-in-law‘s appearance will increase the viewership 👏👍
Always!
Your whole family is so sweet and cute together! Every time I watch you all, I feel so touched.
Wish I had a family like that 😢
I enjoyed this video very much! Whenever your mother in law appears, she will bring laughter to us, she's such a nice mom, and I can feel that she really treats you like her own son, so happy for you! Of course you have tried your best to speak Mandarin and I think you have improved a lot, keep it up! :)
Buy grapes from Sheng Shiong
Ghib-san: From Takashimaya, 50 dollars! :D
and he says $6.90 is ex already. he is more local then the locals sometimes. haa
4:16 Your mother-in-law thought you were going to sell something. And she asked if you're selling her. HAHA
Chinese intonation for words is very important, cause both 买 and 卖 have the same pinyin but different tones. But 买 means buy and 卖 means sell
Your MIL ……
你知道我在等你吗?🤣🤣🤣
Do you know I am waiting for you.
It’s not pure authentic mandarin being communicated… but singaporean mandarin instead! Very fun loving family u have! Thanks for sharing your joy!
I lost it and cracked into laugher when you say 妻子!sounds like we are in those extremely old 古代 Chinese films. i thought you will say 老婆! 😂 This was enjoyable to watch overall
Your mom-in-law is so funny HAHAHA Also it would be fun to have another similar video in the future and see how your Chinese language has improved (or not lol)
11:45
Mom eats $69 grapes:
"Wow, so delicious that I felt like I fly to heaven!"
Mom discovered it is $6.90:
"Walau, no wonder not sweet one!"
To be frank you did way more progress than I expect for reals. Many times I think they understood you but they are teasing you for fun like the 5 stars part and they mai(sell/buy sounds super similar), they know you are trying to say buy but is teasing you for fun
Your videos is one of the most genuine and enjoyable ones that i’ve watched in youtube. Following you is definitely rewarding for me and my family. Thumbs up and wish you great fortune in your life!
Having been thought chinese my whole life, I can't help but laugh at Ghib Ojisan struggling to understand what his mother-in-law is trying to say. All the best with learning chinese!
Wife: drink lemon juice, on diet.
Ghib: gobbles down a huge plate of pasta.
Your mother in law is so much fun. This is hilarious.
Your MIL is someone I would like to talk to everyday! So fun!
mother in law is gold! such a wonderful person!
so fun and delighted that you are such a genuine person. jiayou ghib, love your content!
6:29 - jipunlang Lai Liao! Wah Lau jipulang Lai Liao. Lol damm funny
Mandarin is not the hardest part... when ur mother in-law mix up all language, hokkien, singlish, mandarin hahaha
If it were possible, I would have given this video 3 likes and a ton of 🤣🤣🤣.
The grapes segment was utterly hilarious.
Can't believe you call it "the last battle"! So funny, your conversation with your MIL!
Good job!!!!! You’re picking up the language so well!!
This video really sparked a lot of joy watching it tanngggssss Ghib!
Usually Singaporeans say 老婆 or
太太 for wife. More informal I think
In Japanese it is also 妻 so maybe that's why he directly translated into Chinese 妻子
Always enjoy a good language challenge! Keep up the great content and enjoy your time with your family 🙌💯
My whole family enjoyed this video so much. Your MIL is so adorable 💖
Really applaud you for your determination! It’s already really good! But When your MIL inserted Malay andYou thought it was Mandarin and the look of total lost and confusion on his face 😂 too funny!
Actually, your Chinese has improved quite well. Keep trying. Jia Yu!
For once, this video is hilarious 😂😂!! I was laughing from the beginning to the end. It really brightened up my day 😘💘. Aiyoh, both you and yr MIL are really funny, esp yr expression when you didn't know what she was saying. The "da bian" (shit) part was so funny 🙉🤣🤣. Aiyoh....

hahaha your MIL is so cool, she blasted you with so much mandarin and singlish!
“I said nice, just to make you happy”.🤣
Your MIL is really charming and a real cook!
Nice to see you trying your best and it was funny seeing your confused face haha. I didn’t understand the first part either, but the second time when you asked your MIL if you could go to her house, she said that you were welcomed anytime, and that you didn’t have to ask them for permission! The third time, she was joking, mixing “selling” and “buying”, and saying that you were selling her (instead of buying her something).
Your chinese has improved a lot! It’s so good!
😂that look on your face when you MIL is speaking is epic, especially when we understand her.
This is so funny and authentic. Keep it up!
so funny episode! LOL! Hahahha... u guys are such comedians. Love the chipmunk voice when u masked ur wife's voice and yours together. Too cute plus funny! When learning a new language it is most important to use it, speak it everyday. Dun be afraid to make mistakes.
Always enjoy your conversations and interaction with your mil. Hope to see more of these video
This is the type of video i definitely enjoys the most!! :)
As I’m a half Japanese and half Singaporean, I find this hilarious lol 😂
There's no such thing as half Singaporean. Singaporean is a nationality not a race. You mean half Japanese half Chinese.
Seldom see a son in law get so well with the in law family 👍👍👍
Really Commendable Effort... Soon you will be speaking fluently. Keep it up!
ぶどうのやり取り最高でした!
お義母さん優しいですね!そしていつも通りHappy全開で素敵です👏👏

That pasta looks damn good man
Your joyful MIL makes learning mandarin fun and easy for you.
To be fair. When your mother in law speaks Singaporean Chinese. It's mix of Malay, Chinese dialect and Mandarin language. That's why they our language is a rojak.
your chinese is amazing I actually think that your enunciation is pretty accurate! really love your vids too theyre so genuine keep it up :))
I think you can buy expensive and cheap fruits and ask your mother in law to do a taste test hahaha

I spit my coffee out when you said my wife in mandarin. Hahaha 😂
So heart warming to see you and your in laws get along so well....
Aiyo Ghib. Your clip is hilarious. I miss going Japan so much. So watching your show helps me to fill in the no-travel sickness.
Ghib San, to show your sincerity to your parents-in-law, you should go to Medi-Ya and buy a bunch of Japanese imported muscat grapes for their coming birthday ok? I am sure they will love it.
やばいw 床屋以来の爆笑でしたw 奥様辛口 なにいってるかわからんw 2.5w 理解不能フェーズの瞬間 最高でしたw ジブさんマンダリン上手ですね。

IMO, this is probably your funniest video. Hilarious seeing your puzzled response to your MIL’s SIngapore chinese. The dabian part is classic.
I akways love the Conversation between you and your MIL . She is such a Joy . Thank you for this Video . You are Fantastic
👏 👏👏👏
"It shouldn't be too difficult, right?" - If there is a will, there is a way. Muddle through and succeed eventually.
完敗でしたね。
やっぱり、お義母さん好きだわー。
ジブさんの中国語、まだまだのようですが、かなり勉強が進んでますね。
(私はさっぱり分かりません)
今度は、ほんとに高いブドウを買って行きましょうね。
Think the Japanese words on the grapes packing is シャインマスカット, Shine Muscat, a type of grapes according to Google.
I’m curious what did your MIL make in that lettuce wrap!
4:20 I think she thought you were selling her something (mài dōngxi) instead of buying her something (mǎi dōngxi) 😂
U make effort and good progress in your mandarin! Is not easy.!!
haha you know "haolian" as well. Your family interaction is so cute and funny! Nice effort in learning mandarin
Hahaha 勉強頑張って!
When you speak Chinese, you reminded me of another Japanese guy in Taiwan call 三原(三原けいご), he also speaks good Mandarin too!! Hope you can also learn fast and Kaciao(disturb) your wife and MIL🤣
あいかわらずお義母さんのキャラが立っていて抜群に面白い会話になりますね。Mom is a kind of BIG Star among UA-cam
isn't it?
Haha. Your MIL mixed Fujian dialect, English, Malay etc in sentences, no wonder you don't understand. Got to love you MIL❤❤. Miss seeing her in your videos. BTW, your mandarin is not bad. Great effort!!👍❤
Your mother-in-law is hilarious, reminds me of my mom's humor. 🙂
Everyone is so cute 😊
Hahahaha…So funny 😄 Localised already.
Ghib your Chinese is so good!! How long have you been learning, it's really very proficient :))
Your MIL needs to have her own UA-cam channel lol

岳母把 Ghib san , 养到胖嘟嘟的, 太有口福了, huat ah , MIL 厨艺太棒啦, GHIB 越吃越 发,发,发
Ghib San; Please try your best to propose co-hosting a cooking show with your talented fabulous MIL. Call it something like:" Mother and Son in law cooks Singaporean favorites". I guarantee you it will take the internet by storm. Hugely successful. She is SUCH a great skillful home chef. My mouth watered like crazy staring at that tureen of chicken soup as well as those lettuce wraps. Could u ask what were those brownish sticks in the wraps? Much appreciated.
Your mother in law bully you with her Chinese. Watching you all is so fun, she is adorable. There was once you looked so lost.
This sure makes my day hahaha!!🤣🤣🤣
Ghib!! How long have you been studying Chinese? I’m learning Japanese now and it’s so difficult!! Do you have any tips? ありがとうございます!
This video is killing me 😂 try to really exaggerate on the tones. 加油 Ghib!
Only recently i realized Ojisan can be uncle, grandfather and prince... they just sound the same.
This is extremely hilarious...your MIL is very funny the way she speaks
中文:我很饿(お腹がすいた(I am hungry))
日本語:激おこ(I am mad)
English: I am MAD(激おこ)
