Why wasn't this a big hit? It was great.
It was a hit in our neighborhood because the album was full of gold bullion gems, especially this one. I think the record company campaigned Are you man enough to radio stations because Shaft in Africa was out. So much great music was out at the time this album kind of went under the radar. All these years later, l still can't tell what Levi says at the end twice. "I got a new is all l can decipher.

What a voice
This was recorded in 1973 after they left Tamla Motown. They then recorded for ABC/Probe Records and this was written by Dennis Lambert and Brian Potter who wrote most of their songs at this time. Still a great song 48 years on.
I bet an Awards show with the 4 Tops and The Chairmen of the Board doing this one on a callabo would have been Real nice.

Oh my Lord. right now is the first time I've heard this song 46 years. I bought the album when I was like 8 and lost it. It's taken me this long to find out the actual name so I could hear it again. I thought it was 'call me' talk about a long trip down the lane. Sounds as awesome as it did wayyyy back when I was a kid. Even at 8, I knew good music when I heard it :-)

I guess I failed to look at it from that point of view but you're right it was a great dance on the beach song in fact I'm going to pull up some old beach music thanks to you and I'm going to play the song wouldn't it be nice if we were older and a few other great a song about a location I love the Beach Boys believe me when I tell you I always envied them because they were able to do things that economically I couldn't do but now as an old man I get a chance to taste some of the magic of that era I get a chance to go back in time and live it.

Arguably one of their best.....incredibly melodic with perfect harmonies. REAL music and VERY emotive. Think this was 1972.....makes me 14!

You make a great point this is why we have to listen to music and video that gives us a timeline so we can refer to it because a lot of times history isn't always played out on the radio on MTV or bet so what we have to do is get on UA-cam and some of the other media outlets and find out history and go back and look at it a piece at a time cuz it's a lot 2 digest.

And you saw pictures of the Kennedys to the Camelot era ML King the Civil Rights Movement Malcolm X that movie is a montage about life and it's perfectly arranged with the music to give us very responsive used to look at and I must I'm happy to say that whoever did the video did a good job of taking us on a journey and Vietnam was a part of it
