Barry’s arranger, who almost never gets mentioned, was Gene Page! He wrote the string, horn and flute parts. Gene and Barry were very good friends and both passed at exactly 58 yrs old. How about a “thumbs up” for Gene Page??

65 GTO love Barry and gene. The gene page albums are very good and underestimated. I miss them both but still to this day play my vinyls with pride.

I went to his home in Encino in the late 1970’s: what a castle. All his servants were white and wore Nehru jackets. The diamond on his wife’s finger as shown in the video was Huge. His kids were all well mannered and he ran tight ship. The guest house on his property was nicer than 99% of the houses in the Valley. His next door neighbor was Gordon Lightfoot. Nice guy and he was a giant man.

My mother always loved his voice too. A deep voice can be very attractive. I always liked the voice of the guy on Soul Train. I’m sorry too be so tired not to recall his name and it was popular when I was a child. But I love music of most types and many decades. Marvin Gaye is another sexy voice in a different way. Then there is Chip Somodevilla who testified against trump in impeachment.

I saw him on some talk show back in the day (Merv Griffin maybe ?) where the interviewer made reference to what he was known for - his sexy voice & songs affecting the passions of couples... Barry got angry and said 'That stuff got nothing to do with me, I don't want that on me'... which was shocking to me, and puzzling, because it seems that's exactly what the goal of his music was.

So audible had the first book free and immediately suggested Barack Obama’s book. I only got it because it’s in his voice. He has kind of a soothing voice too. The last time he did put me to sleep lol. I’m only one chapter one and it’s 30 hours long. I only spent 20 hours watching a documentary about the Roosevelt’s but it was about all of them lol.

Thank you for doing this. Barry White, is my all time favorite musician; I followed his career from 1970; his talent went largely unrecognized by most.
It always seemed to me that there was an underlying thread of sadness in this beautiful man. I could never put my finger on it, until after his death, and his life story was revealed. I believe he was a gentle soul that sought an unconditional love he never quite found.
    He was gone too soon.

Mr White was a great producer, arranger, songwriter, musician, composer and entertainer. That is a title not many can claim, they are either one or the other but not all. Here is a man with a twelfth grade education doing things people went to school to learn. Barry Whites music is extremely underrated. Just listen to his music without any lyrics. The orchestration is next level. Couldn't read a lick of music and played seven instruments. Some of his music should be in the Smithsonian Institute. I saw him perform forty five years ago at Madison Square Garden and that concert is still ringing in my ears. To this day I listen to his music in bed and fall asleep. The only was to describe him is GENIUS!!! RIP Maestro.

Yes, I've heard him talk about that. It was a life-changing experience for him. They should have mentioned that in this documentary. Those facts are important.

The greatest entertainers almost always die young so terrible.
I wish he had left before it got to the point of ridiclue, because it's such an undignified way for a great entertainer to go.

The first song I heard from him was "I'm Gonna Love You Just a Little More Baby", I bought the 45 in the spring of 1973. I was hooked on his music. I had Love Unlimited Orchestra and his Can't Get Enough album. The song I loved the most on that album was "I Can't Believe You Love Me".

I remember watching Barry White during an interview and he stated that his mother had a master's degree in music. Supposedly this began his love of music. He didn't mention anything about gang-banging.
