In The Mix Radio Well, they are definitely missing Ray "Stingray" Davis. This lineup is great but man, Ray's bass would have made the vocals that much better.
This is so funky, Skeet is whoopin that bass from start to finish! At first I thought it was two cats he’s cuttin up so tough. Gary Shider is a nut too! “Somebody’s not singing with me!!!”
Prince said said he saw 14 people onstage singing Knee Deep at the Beverly Theater. I'm guessing this is the performance! And that night he went home & wrote Erotic City! I'm guessing Prince was losing his mind in the audience, just as much as I am hearing this for the first time today. Thursday, May 26, 2022. Thanks Paliament. And thanks Prince. Brought here by Prince's speech for George Clinton's induction into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.
damn Skeet Michael and Dennis go into heavy overdrive on the second half of the song when George says nothing but the music put your hands together gottdamn
@marko1970 on further study, and I am impressed you noticed, I was getting mixed up with "One Nation Under Groove" studio which has all that perc. added. Thanks. It still goes that Dennis plays like an Octopus on both tracks.
yea Dennis plays both drum parts, like the percussion fills, too. I like the restraint during Hampton's guitar solo..he stays, tight, on the cowbell...unlike the rush to the ride cymbal on " 'Funk Um Agin...For The First Time'." CD which is more loose and impetuous, yet I like that CD, too, with Greg's vocal solo included.
Are you guys sure that is Dennis Chambers on drums? Nevertheless, they do have it pumped up! The bass player is KILLIN' IT! "Somebody's not singing with meeeeee!" I love this version. Willie Will & E Double, I love you cats for making me hear EVERYTHING.
Dennis is on the liner notes, wiki and is introduced on this CDs start of 'Cosmic Slop'. Another CD w/ a multi song jam is P-Funk All Stars - Funk Um Agin...For The First Time: "Live In L.A.". CD - Import. My next fav live CD by the band.
This is not the whole show.Standing on the verge of getting on is also on this show ,which is not featured on the cd.This show was originally a part of the Budweiser concert series in 1983,which I own a copy of the whole entire show.
@marko1970 not the T. drum as much as the extra fills on the hi toms and splashes added as you can hear Dennis is not just playing the basic funk beat. Dave Weckl is known for for adding that 'two drummers' sound, also.
@fiddude1 Are you referring to the talking drum??? The studio version had larry fratangelo on percussion, and he used the talking drum on the studio version of Knee Deep.
Fast forward 40 years and half of these players are dead or quit the band over low pay George still leading Mike still plays but he sounds old and just there for a pay check Clip and lige still.there and I think x few if the horn players but pfunk sounds nothing like they did in the past their best musicians are gone which is why fans don't like the latest parliament and funkadelic albums
This was the best line up of the p-funk all stars and this was the best the band ever sounded
The best line period.
In The Mix Radio Well, they are definitely missing Ray "Stingray" Davis. This lineup is great but man, Ray's bass would have made the vocals that much better.

Skeets and Dennis killed this song man it's crazy!!!
Epic ending!
Dennis and Skeet set the bar with this version!!! It never gets old.
It’s quite possible two musicians have never been more in the pocket than on this recording.
This is so funky, Skeet is whoopin that bass from start to finish! At first I thought it was two cats he’s cuttin up so tough. Gary Shider is a nut too! “Somebody’s not singing with me!!!”
godDAMN !!!! that Dennis Chambers on drums!!!!

Baddest musicians on the planet....
P Funk stays turning it out live. Slamming
In 1996, for a b-day present, I took my old drummer to get a private lesson from Dennis. Got to sit in a 20x20 room w/ that beast. Life changing.
Music to wake you up, clear your head, restore natural order.
This version is uptempo but it kicks ass tremedously!!!
I told Dennis Chambers and Mike Hampton that this was the best P-funk band ever put together
kelt657 that’s truth and facts in fact it’s one of the best bands to me ever put together they was able to play any style at a high level!!!
nahhh, glen goins , ray davis, fred wesley, maceo parker missing…

8:53 Ladies and Gentlemen, Michael "Kid Funkadelic" Hampton!!!! NUFF SAID!!!
At 1:35, the bass player is workin' it! And again at 7:52 when they break it down, before Michael goes berserk. Ain't nothing like the funk.
NOW THIS SOUNDS REALLY NICE...
My name is Dennis Chambers.....And i kick the drums asssssssssss for a living!!!! End of story!
That is 100% Dennis Chambers, actually his first recording was with Funkadelic, on Knee Deep (studio version) in 1979.
I am pretty sure it is Bootsy drumming on the studio version.
Thats Bootsy drummin
@@funkaholic1972Dennis himself said he recorded it…

It was this moment when Prince, who was attending this concert, had the idea of Erotic City...
Yes it was Dennis Chambers. On of of the intros they introduce him
Dennis Chambers + Rodney Skeet Curtis

Them college kids love them bro?
Dennis Chambers player way too fast for P-Funk. It’s too Prince and early 80’s r&b influenced. Too much coke in their P-Funk
Jr. lol you have no idea what you're talking about, listen again learn and take notes.
1 mans opinion….
