hey, jay. just wanted to say thank you for helping me get through a hard time in my life. I just want to drop a few points that I like. the vids are straight to the point. you have a good vibe that always cheers me up. and you actually really appreciate your subscribers. a lot of people don't care about the fans that support them
New sub here I have been a knife guy since the age of 13 and I'm 59 now. I'm really amazed at the quality of knives that are available at such low prices. How ironic yesterday I ordered a couple Feldspar knives before watching your video and I'm really feeling confident I will like them after watching your rundown.
I'll mention a few goodies like the raven, squid, tenacious, and of course, you know I gotta name drop it like it's hot, the BRIGAND! Thanks for sharing the great list Jay!
I just found your channel and am already a big fan. A little over a year ago, I got turned on to some of the knives from China and bought quite a few of them. Some were good and some were okay. We had a house fire at the end of last year and many of the knives that I really liked were destroyed in the fire. Now, it's time to take a fresh look. This video is going to be my guide to replace some of what I lost. Thank you for your choices, specs and insight!
First, omg, so sorry to hear about your home. I hope everyone is ok. I know what you mean about the Chinese knives, some are great and others not so much. I'm really glad this video has helped. Welcome to the channel, glad to have ya.
I'm soon ordering the Ganzo FH41 because of what you and other youtubers say about it. I lost my old CRKT Drifter in a lake and I don't have a lot of money. I DROP this video a thumbs up too, maybe I'll get some more of the knives on the list when I get some cash.
I hear ya, this hobby starts to get expensive in a hurry. You really can't go wrong with any of the Ganzo Firebird FH knives, especially if you don't have a lot to spend. Thanks for watching.
One knife per brand, that's a very good idea... Twosun should be a part of it imo. Your channel definitely deserve more subscribers as you always deliver great reviews with a nice drop of good mood. Keep the good work going on!
You just made my day, thank you for that! I'm really trying here. Maybe someday I'll get there, so until then, I will just keep clawing my way forward. Thanks again.
Hello Jay. You certainly know how to pick a good list. All fantastic knives. All my knives fit in this category exept a couple that were gifts from family. Ganzos as you know are my high end and i mean that in quality regardless of the price. Of the five or six i have there is not one that has given me problems or that i would not buy again. I would add to this list though in a totally different style, the SAK Huntsman. At 35/38euros it has quality and utility and is legal carry in nearly all places. I know most people would class this as a multitool but it's principal tool is after all the blade as opposed to leatherman where it is the pliers. All the best my friend.
@@TheKnifeBeater Hello again. I have three saks that i use as discrete edc. (they don't frighten non knife people, lol). In town , a climber, for urban edc i find this perfect. At home and suburban carry is the Huntsman. same as the climber + a saw. And finally for hikes, camping and general outdoor carry i use an Atlas. This has sentimental value as well as my wife gave it to me as a first wedding anniversary gift 30years ago.
I wanted to drop by and say thank you Jay. You put a lot of effort into your videos and make them entertaining to watch. I was a little surprised the SPYDERCO Tenacious didn’t make the list.
I appreciate that! Thank you for taking the time to let me know. You're right about the Tenacious, I kinda thought it might be missed. I had one, but gave it away. I have a new one on it's way to me though. Thank you czredhead.
Got a few of my favorites to drop in Jay.........Starting with the Ganzo FB760, the Kershaw Dividend, Kershaw Blur, Bestech Swordfish, Kizer Begleiter Mini....and the Tuyaknives Bruiser in both the G10 and micarta scales. Lastly, the deployment and Drop action on my Steel Will Shaula, its overall handle shape and blade shape and black stonewash finish make it hard to put down.....just a fantastic flipper IMO....Stay Well!
Those are some good ones. I've been trying for a while to get my hands on a Bruiser, but for some reason they are tough to find. The Shaula is another I'll get soon. Thanks Andrew.
Totally agree about the large Feldspar. I have two; the g10 one came near-perfect, but the bhq exclusive had massive dangerous lockstick due to a burr on the lockbar. After disassembly and some filework, it's perfect too. I would add the CRKT/Ruger LCK, the Tenacious, and the Morakniv Eldris to the list.
I swear dude, you're my spirit animal. I have a lot of the knives on this list and I have the exact same thoughts that you expressed. Most budget knives have crappy clips. The feldpsar is my favorite carry right now but I still love my Mini Cutjack and the P801 is great but not now that it's been shorts weather. I've been trying to decide which Civivi knife to get next, you just made the case for the shredder. Great video.
@@TheKnifeBeaterjust discovered your channel and at 47 years old i have never been a knife guy. Guns…. My vice. But since i was gifted q emerson commander…. Ohh im hooked and love the info you give. Im learning a whole new hobbie. Also learning as with watches.. you can spend a ton more ans barely get anything extra…. Aka my ganzo spyderco clone.. seems to be just as good as my real one. Hmmmm. Hope ur still making vids👍👍
Hey Jay. Another great video. Happy to drop you a note and tell you I enjoyed your Top 15. Your number one choice of the CJRB Feldspar almost made me drop my glass of ice tea. No kidding. I didn't see that one coming.
Drop it on me Jay! Great Video! I would have to say my medium Honey Badger in D2 is my favorite budget, although the Kershaw Link is a great one as well!
great selection Jay :). the stedemon and the tangram are great. I have them both and I love them. that best tech looks amazing also. But my favorite is the honeybadger.
So many knives... time to drop some coin! I think I got my Kershaw Blur in D2 for $59 and really enjoy that. Can't go wrong with the Rat-1. But I think I may have to try out that mini Cutjack. I like the design. Thanks as always, Jay!
I need to get the Free Tiger and Feldspar. I have the Ganzo Firebird FH41, and absolutely love it. Many family members go one for Christmas. Not a fan of the looks of the shredder but love my praxis, in fact I love all of my many CIVIVI knives. Great video.
Yeah, you're gonna love those 2 knives. Believe me, i really wanted the Praxis on this list, but I went with the Shredder because of it's multi-deploy options and blade steel. I'm still a huge Praxis fanboy. Thank you Eric.
I love the feldspar. Hands down the best edc knife I have owned. Other than the cold steel super edge. By far the most used knife I have ever used. I use this knife every day and I am hard on everything I own. I am an industrial electrician and I swear I use this little thing every day please review this little Gem.
Great video, Jay! In no particular order, my top favorite 15 budgets are: Cold Steel Voyager CJRB Feldspar Bestech Kendo TwoSun TS27 Kershaw Select Fire Ganzo G7531 Tangram Santa Fe Real Steel G5 Gerfalcon CH 3504 Ontario Rat 1 in D2 Kizer Beglieter Steel Will Intrigue Civivi Wyvern Ruike P108 Free Tiger 903 Never had a Drop, would definitely love one!
Wow Ed, now that's a list! I had a tough time choosing between the CH3504 or CH3001. I found a Micarta version of the Feldspar on Blade HQ, but I think I bought the last one. Thank you for watching my friend.
Nice rundown. My top fifteen under $60 is very close to yours. I agree the fh41 is the best overall Ganzo. I picked up an extra fh41 in a nice new grey color from the power cutlery. I think the only substitute I would make is a swordfish instead of the texel, but its a close one. "Drop".
I did consider the Swordfish for a minute because I know a lot of people love it. I figured our lists might be similar since you and I like many of the same knives. Thank you Andrew.
I enjoyed another great video, I can see why you like so many of those knives and brands. I must say I have to drop some coin on at least three from your list. Have to say I had my eye on these for a month at least!
Hey, Jay. I'll drop a few details of my own experience with the FT903. I bought the knife based on the video you posted about discovering it. Loved it ever since, and ended up buying a second one in gray. I've disassembled both knives without much trouble at all. I don't know if I just got lucky, but any Loctite that was present wasn't a problem for a fairly new knife enthusiast.
So glad to hear you like it. That's great about the disassembly, maybe they stopped using it or something, but still good to hear. Thank you for the heads up Todd.
I can tell we both like a good drop point design. You brought some knives to my attention that I was not aware of, thamks. Gotta agree on your top 2. Looks like your channel will be the 3rd one I can feel safe giving a thumbs up before watching . Respect on choosing $60 as the top end .
This was a great video. I’m glad that you decided to drop it. Such an awesome list, and I’m happy that I already own a bunch of these knives, but now (thanks to you) I have some more to consider.
Good list. The blur by kershaw always leans just above 60 where I live. Drop. Props for adding a Ganzo in there. Will definitely have to try that Tangram. Looks pretty cool. Hope all is well with you and yours. Stay safe.
Great point. I've noticed that too with the Blur, the price seems to always fluctuate, especially the S30V version. The Tangram Santa Fe is a nice little inexpensive slicer. Thank you Byron.
I love it every time you drop a new video Jay! Great list as always! I just got a large Feldspar and I love it. The only complaint i have is the detent is a little stiff. But it might break in over time. Thanks!
Thank you Scott. Maybe if you disassemble your Feldspar and slightly bend the lock bar in the opposite direction. It might take some pressure off of the detent.
Another seriously strong list. So many quality knives to choose from. I have the Texel and I freaking love it. The action gets even better with use. Oh and drop.
Love this list, a lot of good budget knives on here. You didn't drop the ball on this video. I've been considering the Feldspar for several days now, think it's time for me to drop the hammer on that purchase.
Thanks for the review, Jay. Just starting out, so i only have two: Buck 112 with finger grooves, and a Kershaw Emerson. Love both, and will be acquiring more, though they tend to be expensive here in Singapore, so I buy secondhand. We don't have the choices you have there in the States, so I'm planning to get some when we visit again.
Thanks for DROP - ing some knowledge on these budget knives! I just hit subscribe and looking forward to going back through previous videos over the weekend!
Let me turn down my "Drop"kick Murphys tunes long enough to thank you for this video. As a newbie to knife collecting this is a great introduction. My first purchase was the Kershaw Blur. I look forward to exploring your selections.
Lol. No way! I was a much bigger fan of their's when I was younger, still good though. Wow, the Blur is a wise choice for your first. You're definitely starting out right. Thank you Kurt.
@@TheKnifeBeater I just got my first EDC. It’s a Kershaw Cryo. I know it’s nothing compared to these new designs but it works for me. I have to get a beginner diamond stone set in the 6” range. I have a Smith’s 4” pocket diamond combination stone but it’s not stable enough for my skill level... which is minimal in the 2 months I’ve been doing it. Definitely, want a fidgety flipper on bearings. Looking at Civivi, Ruike, Lion something (can’t remember the name) and maybe a Twosun. But I want a very specific blade profile... more slim like the Kershaw Hotwire or Leek. Medium to fine width, nothing too chunky. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
My favorite budget knives are: Bestech - Texel Two Sun Knives - TS80 Real Steel - Griffin Ontario Rat Model 1(AUS8) CRJB - Centros Kershaw - Blur (I got mine for about $60 but can’t remember exact price) Cold Steel - Pro Lite QSP - Penguin CRKT - Caligo This was a cool. List. Thank you for doing it. Also drop.
Oh, my favs are.... 1) FH41(I have all the models).....2)Civivi Elementum(favorite is the bronze handled one)......3) Tangrim Vector(got both)..... 4)Ch 3504 Ti Skull knives(have all of them) .......5)CJRB Feldspar .....6) Sanranmu 913 & 912....7) Ganzo FH760.......8) Civivi Praxas.... 9) Kiser Dukes ..... 10) Ch 3501 (Aus 10) ..... 11) Boker Kalashninikov (S30VN) ...... 12) Civivi Fiend ....... 13) Kershaw Thistle ..... 14) Real Steel Griffin ..... 15) Free Tiger FT 903 (only because ive been waiting over 2 months for a replacement knife that got lost in the mail)
Very nice list Lemon, you put couple on there that I totally forgot about. Sorry to hear about your FT903 troubles, I hope that gets sorted out soon. Thank you my friend.
I wish he would make more content but he's too busy managing his local franchise of The Flander's Leftorium. Just having some fun, Love you Jay, keep up the great work!
Keyshawn Atmos is a fantastic budget knife. It’s a sinkavich design, has a hollow grind, its on ball bearings, flipper, and cuts like a beast. All for around 30-40$.
You're right, it does cut very well. I had one, but the action on mine wasn't that good. Maybe the issue was just with the one I had. Thank you Dtwynn.
Nice list. I love the Santa Fe. The Harnds Talisman is another budget knife with incredible action. I wish they'd gone with 14C28N but their AUS8 is decent. I also like the Petrified Fish 818. It's like the +1 version to Ganzo's FH series. I finally got my large Feldspar from Drop. It's nice but I've got three complaints. The liners aren't skeletonized but that's minor. The inner scale edges were a little rough on mine but I fixed that with an emery board. The real issue is that mine has lock stick. It was difficult to disengage from the box. Cleaning and lubing helped a little. I'm going to EDC it for a while and see if it breaks in.
Nice choice with the Talisman. I will eventually get my hands on a Petrified Fish. Sorry to hear about that lock stick trouble. Did you try drawing on the top of the lock bar with a pencil yet? Sometimes it helps. Thank you Chronovore.
@@TheKnifeBeater Thanks. I hadn't though of that. Opening and closing it a bunch has worn in the parts a little and the lock stick is a little better now. Curiously, my Feldspar was dry as a bone out of the box. I actually couldn't deploy it normally with the thumb studs! Since taking it apart for a thorough clean and lube, tuning the action, and working it a bunch; it's gotten a lot better. If it still sticks after a bunch more actuations, I'll hit it with some pencil.
Well choosed repertory. And the 'Mini Cutjack', a touch of aesthetic class, imo. Many candidates for this list. It can be said : there are not all those who are, but those who are, are.
I'm really tempted to get one of those Griffin's. Looks really nice. A few that come to mind of mine are Of course the Texel. It's just fantastic. Drop shut action! One of my all-time fav knives, period. Budget or not. Of course the Civivi Elementum Kizer Mini Begleiter. CRKT LCK TwoSun TS201 Ganzo FH-51 Sweeeet Action.
Very nice list Frizzlefry. I'm still trying to get my hands on an LCK. I ordered one, but still haven't received it yet. I guess they are somewhat difficult to find in stock. Thanks for watching.
i have the cjrb large feldspar in micarta...you need to get this one it is a blade hq exclusive but it is still in your budget requirements feels like a high end knife and been in my pocket a lot!
I like that we have the same 'budget' mindset and I have a few of those brands but not the exact models . Looks like I'll have to drop some cash for some new knives! Thanks !

I can tell we both like a good drop point design. You brought some knives to my attention that I was not aware of, thamks. Gotta agree on your top 2. Looks like your channel will be the 3rd one I can feel safe giving a thumbs up before watching . Respect on choosing $60 as the top end .
Wow Tom, thank you. That means a lot to me.
Sitivien ST102 is absolutely unbelievably awesome!
This was a great video. I’m glad that you decided to drop it.
Such an awesome list, and I’m happy that I already own a bunch of these knives, but now (thanks to you) I have some more to consider.
Glad it helped. Thank you Attic.
So many great knives on this list! And cheap enough that you don't have to wait for a price drop
Very true! Thank you Erik 👍
@@TheKnifeBeater Thanks for the tip Jay! I hadn't thought to try that but I definitely will have to give it a try!
Another seriously strong list. So many quality knives to choose from. I have the Texel and I freaking love it. The action gets even better with use. Oh and drop.
I agree about the Texel. Thank you Will.
Drop! I was glad to see the only 1 knife per brand, more options for us. Thank you
I'm glad you said that Nathan because I was worried how it would play out. Thank you.
Love this list, a lot of good budget knives on here. You didn't drop the ball on this video. I've been considering the Feldspar for several days now, think it's time for me to drop the hammer on that purchase.
Nice wordplay Scott! Thank you.
Thanks for the sub Aaron! Welcome to the channel, glad to have ya. You're very brave going back through my old stuff.
Glad I decided to drop by! Great video as always! Don’t have a big collection but really interested in checking out some of your choices
!
Lol. Thank you Robert, I'm glad you did too👍.
Great review Jay..Happy to say I have at least two of those knives
Thank you Jim👍
You really didn’t talk about the steel as much as I would’ve liked but all in all it was a great review I will definitely check these guys out
You're right Matthew, I should've spent more time on the blade steel. Thank you for the feedback.
Very interesting top 15 great job Jay
Thanks so much Larry!
Thank you knife beater. Great list I can't wait to get the free tiger and the honey badger.
You bet Jose. You're gonna love those 2 knives. Thank you for watching.
It’s great to see you drop so many amazing budget knives :) I love my civivi elementum for budget it’s just a laser
That's a good one to have Casey. Not easy to find in stock nowadays. Thank you.
My favorite budget knives are:
Bestech - Texel
Two Sun Knives - TS80
Real Steel - Griffin
Ontario Rat Model 1(AUS8)
CRJB - Centros
Kershaw - Blur (I got mine for about $60 but can’t remember exact price)
Cold Steel - Pro Lite
QSP - Penguin
CRKT - Caligo
This was a cool. List. Thank you for doing it. Also drop.
Very nice list. I recently got the Penguin and I did not expect to like it as much as I do. Thank you Nick.
Great video Jay! The Drop looks nice
Thanks so much Rick👍
Love blades that DROP shut smooth...luv my Griffon, good knife to give the thumb a break at times....good video Jay!
Great videos! I love your simple taste and reviews. Been looking at that Perpetua from DROP. Mmmm. Thanks
Awesome! Thank you so much CSBainter.
Just wanted to DROP by and say I really enjoy your videos.
Thank you Benjamin!
Multiple opening options video would be pretty sweet !
I carry a Tangram Vector every day. Solid little button lock, love to flick open and drop shut.
I do like the design, but mine didn't have the best action. Could've just been the one I had. Thank you Elliot.
I'm a big Ganzo fan. Excellent list. New subscriber here great vids
Love a drop shut knife..great choices for sure..thanks for sharing Jay...Gotta get me a Griffin for sure..
Thank you. Yeah, it's a really cool knife, definitely unique.
I'm so glad I dropped in to watch this video. Great list!!
Thank you Gleb👍
I can't wait till you Drop your next video. What will be your midrange knives selection.
Yeah, I will have to make some tough choices for that list. Thank you Bill.
love the videos especially love all the Drop shut knives
Thank you Mark.
Nice selection glad I could drop in and see it
You and me both Kevin. Thank you.
I jus got my first ganzo and its really good.. Its razor sharp.
Great video! Really want to get a Feldspar, and now there is version in micarta that looks extra nice!
Thank you Christian. I just ordered that Micarta version from Blade Hq.
Well choosed repertory.
And the 'Mini Cutjack', a touch of aesthetic class, imo.
Many candidates for this list. It can be said : there are not all those who are, but those who are, are.
Thank you Josep. Yeah, I had to include the mini Cutjack, such a great knife.
One channel. One amazing host. So many awesome videos!
Drop-ing by. Great video as always.
Thank you so much Vincent.
Great list. I like the CJRB Centros and the Artisan Cutlery Shark with Bronze scales. Thanks for the GAW. DROP.
Thank you Jason. That Shark does look awesome with the bronze, very nice.
Great video. Thank you Jay!!
I'm really tempted to get one of those Griffin's. Looks really nice.
A few that come to mind of mine are
Of course the Texel. It's just fantastic. Drop shut action! One of my all-time fav knives, period. Budget or not.
Of course the Civivi Elementum
Kizer Mini Begleiter.
CRKT LCK
TwoSun TS201
Ganzo FH-51 Sweeeet Action.
Very nice list Frizzlefry. I'm still trying to get my hands on an LCK. I ordered one, but still haven't received it yet. I guess they are somewhat difficult to find in stock. Thanks for watching.
I'm still building my collection but so far my favorites under $60 are the Rat2, fh41, qsp parrot, CJRB Centros, and a little Walmart Kershaw Hotwire
That's okay, you'll get there. You're off to a great start, you got some good ones.
Great list. A lot of knives I haven’t owned. I hate when a new knife comes out and I miss the “drop” though.
Hey nice wordplay! Thank you.
i have the cjrb large feldspar in micarta...you need to get this one it is a blade hq exclusive but it is still in your budget requirements feels like a high end knife and been in my pocket a lot!
Yep, I bought the last one. It's on it's way to me. Thank you Donald.
I like that we have the same 'budget' mindset and I have a few of those brands but not the exact models . Looks like I'll have to drop some cash for some new knives! Thanks !
That's awesome you like the budget stuff too. I do have some expensive knives, but showing those excludes a lot of people that can't afford them. Thank you Aaron.
