I am Palestinian and I am absolutely heartbroken by with this man and his daughter and entire family went through. These kinds of segments are important to show to the world. Equally as important, the world must see the suffering experienced by Palestinian’s day in they out in both Gaza and the West Bank both before, and after October 7.
The world needs more empathy. The world needs to put what is morally just before individual agendas.
Unfortunately, that’s a naïve wish as we have seen time and time and time again the powers that be will inflict as much misery upon people as is necessary to fulfill its agenda.
The truth of the matter is both pro-Palestinian, and pro-Israel Lise are manipulated by the various media they view, and people must take a step back and realize we are all humans. We have love, aspirations, fear etc.
we are being pinned against one another by the extremists in power. Palestinians deserve freedom, peace and security. Israelis deserve to also live in peace and security. But you can not infringe on the rights of one group. No matter what .

@ahmedahmed you are the FIRST Palestinian here on the internet so far, who has shown compassion and empathy for both sides, I've seen countless of Israelis shown compassion for Palestinians as well but not one Palestinian doing it, until now. I came to the conclusion that Palestinians are born without ability to feel anything for other people, like a form of what Asberger can be like. Or maybe just a thing no Palestinian has ever been taught by their parents and by generations it has stopped developing. You are exeptional, one in a million, take care of that empathy that you are able to feel and please try to talk about it to fellow Palestinians, tell them what it feels like. And tell them to GET compassion you also need to GIVE compassion.
Yes all the children, all the women, all humans should be healed whether in Israel or ghaza. All the kids' psychological health should be addressed whether from Palestine or Israel. Every human has equal rights and everyone deserve to be treated with respect, dignity and love

I am so glad this child is back with her family. The 6,000+ children who have been murdered in Gaza will not be coming back home to their parents. We need to have empathy for all children. Selective moral outrage is not acceptable.

The feelings of this father whose child was kidnapped but was able to return safely are still very traumatic. What else do Palestinian parents feel when they see their children bombed, shot, run over?

Can’t imagine what the Palestinian children are put through in Israeli prisons. It’s crazy how his daughter fled house to house whilst the IDF are bombing each residential building. Watching this, I can’t stop thinking about thousands of children in Gaza who got severely injured, including hundreds who lost their limbs. These thousands became orphaned, and thousands have no live family members to take care of them, not to mention that they are without sufficient food, water, electricity, and medical aid, living in streets while the weather gets freezing cold. I wonder what their psychological condition is, fleeing from area to area to try to survive the bombing, seeing the horror everywhere, and hearing constant bombardments meters away. The dust, destruction, blood, screams, and fear constantly for two months. I wonder if you have interviewed one of these cases??

All the civilians both Israeli AND Palestinian....yes, admittedly, I personally wouldn't mind knowing why so many Palestinian women and children were held in Israeli prisons without even being charged...I was expecting a demand for release of key persons if truth be known, so was shocked to find innocent people being held...as always it's rarely the public/civilians causing these issues..it's always the leaders that have brought this on their people's heads. This dad's pain throughout the whole rollercoaster has been absolutely heart wrenching. The uncertainty, the acceptance and "relief" at her death, then finally being reunited.
I really hope he was wrong about death being the better fate. Hope Emily can still be a child after this ordeal and all the fear and loss she's been through.

@@justus615 uhhh... I don't think that it matters how "clean arabs are" before the bombing... I imagine when the bombing started, everyone stopped maintaining hygiene and things like lice and other infections probably started spreading like wildfire. I also don't think that shaving the captive's hair to prevent lice was a top priority when bombs were dropping all around them...
It's great to be skeptical considering the amount of propaganda going around, but you have to at least try to use some basic logic...

Gaza is not a concentration camp. Israel disengaged from Gaza in 2007 7:17 the People of Gaza voted for Hamas and have an independent government. They could have built a paradise in the Gaza strip. But the only thing Hamas does is terrorism. Israel is not to blame that Hamas takes donations from abroad to build tunnels and ammunition instead of schools and infrastructure. Hamas brought this unto themselves and their People.

It’s so heartbreaking hearing the stories of suffering and trauma, it’s not fair that children have to suffer the scars of War. Emily is lucky to have all the support to get her back. And I pray she does. I heard the story of girl called Hanna, who is also 9. whose whole family had been blown up as they were sleeping, she was buried under the rubble and after days found out she was the only surviving member of the family. The girl needed a double leg amputation and is now having no legs, no family, no hospital and no safe space is being forced and shifted from place to place hospital to hospital in Gaza becase there are bomb threats daily to even hospitals. No safe space for Hanna. No psychological support for Hannah, no mothers love for Hanna, no father love for Hannah, no carer to look after Hannah. No life for Hannah. But no one cares about Hannah’s story because she was born on the other side of the wall

I'm not saying Emily hasn't been traumatised, poor little girl, but any child would be traumatised fleeing the relentless bombardment from house to house. I am sure she is fortunate to be able to receive counselling and therapy in due course and she has loving adult siblings, a father and extended family to support her. Other children in Gaza have become orphans and have lost everything, with no form of therapy available to them, as the cold of Winter draws near. The fact Emily lost weight is not a surprise, Israel stopped water, food, fuel, amenities from going in. The fact she was infested with lice is also not surprising, considering the restriction of aid and water for washing is causing an unhygienic situation which helps spread all sorts of infections and disease. I am not trying to take away from the joy of seeing Emily returned to her family and, please God, she will recover fully from the traumatic experiences 🙏 but please try to keep a balanced perspective of the pain suffered by the children of Gaza too.
Mr Hand didn't say anything about his daughter's ordeal that would've upset the Israel government, unlike the elderly lady (released a few weeks ago and wished Shalom to her captors) whom we haven't heard from since, but I am curious to see if other released hostages will be 'allowed' to speak about their ordeals, without scripting
Praying for complete healing for this little girl, and all the families. And those still in captivity.

The kid is traumatized due to constant bombardment, what she has experienced and felt in that chaos and killing and amongst the dead bodies she understands what the people of Gaza are going through hopefully her family and everyone around her understand as well as call for a stop to the carnage

The way her big sister tenderly caressed her was a tear jerker. I’m so glad she’s free. I’m sure the other hostages tried their best to look after the little ones. I know I would have.
I don't understand why Biden and Netanyahu waited so negotiate. This exact deal was on the table October 8th and they waited 40 days and killed 1% of Gaza's civilians and dropped bombs on their own hostages.
This young girl could have been home in early October, and five thousand Palestinians children would be alive today.

I just imagine every child involved in this entire conflict will be experiencing unbearable pain and trauma. Each child is important. This will be a trauma for the rest of their (and their family's) lives. Kids have been forced to watch clips of the horrors of October 7th. Heart wrenching story. So lucky she has a loving father, therapy etc. Praying she gets better. Now think of the Palestinian children that have been wrongly taken for years. Without any contact. Tried in military courts. No therapy. Nothing
I love the sympathetic look on the reporter's face. I wish she would express the same sympathy towards the 5000+ dead Palestinian children. No children should go through war regardless nationality and ethic or religious background.

I am so disgusted honestly. 5000+ Palestinian children dead (wait, I meant people under the age of 18), not one person shed a single tear on main stream media. No interview with any Palestinian family, no reporting period. One Israeli Person under the age of 18 (wait, I meant a child) hostage released, so many tears on main stream media. I would have felt so sympathetic towards her and her family if it hadn't been for my sympathy being overshadowed by my disgust for the reporter's crocodile tears... @@user-zz1zx5hr1t
As someone with PTSD, I find it difficult at times to be around anything or anyone that stresses me out. Work, big crowds, I kind of live inside my mind sometimes. Finding things I love to do, collecting rocks, biking, going to the ocean. It puts my mind on what Im doing that I enjoy. Let her rest a lot, take naps when she wants to. The ordeal is very mentally tiring.

I and two of my D&D players suffer from PTSD as well. We play online exclusively. I think it is a social activity that is safe and feels very. very good. Not saying it cures anything but it lets us socialize quite a lot. Maybe something for you?
I know exactly what you mean, I have PTSD as well. Video games and my pets are what helps me get through the hard days.

This is a real shame when children are traumatised. She must have seen what other children in gaza are seeing; constant bombing, bodies rotting on the streets, people screaming over their dead family, and who knows what horrors
this is one girl... one family ripped apart... there are hundreds more Israeli's and thousands more Palestinians who are irreparably harmed in this horrible war.... I can't imagine.
