- Former Hamas hostage Ilana Gritzewsky joined Sky News Australia to reveal the tragic story of when she and her boyfriend were kidnapped on October 7 in Israel.
“They hit me so hard that they broke my hips,” she told Sky News host Sharri Markson.

But when she heard that the brother of her “owner” was killed by the IDF, it encouraged her to make a TikTok video of herself, and it went viral. She had to endure one more beating from her Palestinian captor, but the IDF was able to locate and rescue her, and she is now back with her family. Prayers for release for all Nigerian girls! 🙏🏽

She was kidnapped because of the actions of her government. She was on occupied land. It is that simple. When the Germans occupied Poland, France, Russia etc, do we condemn the people of those countries for fighting against the German occupiers? No? Because these people were resisting the occupation? Hence it is the same in Palestine. I dont condone the taking hostage of unarmed civilians. If they were heavily armed illegal settlers, then fair is fair, theyre a fair target. Never civilians. Never. But that is the truth. She is on occupied land and in the mindset of Hamas and the like, that makes her a fair target.
Glad she is home but people shouldnt pretend that her experiences were particularly horrific. Why was she starved? Because food wasnt getting into Gaza, despite the Israelis lying on a daily basis that food was getting in. A little bit was, but not on the scale that was needed. Hamas wasnt going to kill her. They needed the hostages alive in order to get Palestinians released. The violence on October 7 was disgusting, yes, no denying that. I think that was designed to be shock and awe and to show that Hamas means business. And unfortunately there were fighters from ISIS and Islamic Jihad amongst the Hamas fighters, who are more extreme in how they conduct themselves, probably why there was so much violence on Oct 7 during what appears to have been a standard hostage snatch. If this was about pure terror, she would have probably been beheaded and the footage sent to her family. The IDF certainly didnt care about her, she was expendable to Netanyahu
