During this performance Selena sang without any mic packs, no voice enhancements, water breaks all while wearing 4-5 inch heels on a rotating stage. She was hearing herself at a 4-6 second delay, so the fact that’s she’s on cue is amazing. She also designed this purple jumpsuit herself. You should react to her live vocals during the 1993 Féria Monterrey singing “Que Creias”. Her talent and stage presence is unmatched til this day
The best way I could explain her charm to me is this. It's like she was born to be on stage, like she was truly meant to be herself during a performance. Someone who did it because they loved it more than anything else, almost like she'd do it for free if it meant she can be on stage spreading joy through her performance.
Selena was bigger than all, she had her own style she didn’t emulate anyone . That’s what made Selena stand out above all female singers, she was very special .
No extravagant outfits/set changes, no choreography, no huge fans blowing her hair wild, and she didn't even drink any water during this performance. 100% pure performing! Also, when I first saw this concert, I thought it was pretty courageous to open the show with an English medley... such a great way to represent her American side, as well as to show that Mexican ppl like disco too! She LOVED Donna Summer & disco music. 😂 She was truly amazing! ❤ Si Una Vez please!!!!!
More Selena please 🙏 I absolutely love her! I cried like a baby when I found out that she had been murdered. So devastating😢 She was a great role model and miss her very much. She's one of a kind
Keep in mind, beyond all the other things that have been said, the stage was moving. Continued to move in a circle throughout to accommodate the arena. So difficult for sound, hearing, control of any kind...and she sounds phenomenal.
It’s important to remember that she changed her style completely to accommodate a Spanish audience because her father saw an avenue for success there. selena was an 80s baby, grew up on Janet Jackson, Paula Abdul, Jody Watley. The closest music she ever made that resembles that style was “Enamorada de Ti” check her live performance of this song, she’s dressed like a Flygirl, new jack style back up dancers and the instrumentation is 80s synth. She was in the middle of recording her crossover English album at the time of her death. Her first major English single was a huge record “I could fall in love” you may have actually heard it before somewhere. Life sucks sometimes, she was shot in her back, upper right shoulder and the bullet passed through her body. understanding is that an inch up or down, the bullet could have passed through and she possibly could have lived with the injury. Instead the bullet severed a major artery and she bled out as she ran for help.
When she started she with her siblings was called Selena Y Los Dinos. And yes 1 of the guitarists in the band band Chris Perez was her Husband. I wish she could have had kids. But she didn't get a chance.
I feel like she was a musical diva in the best type of way. She inspired her band to match her talent and energy. This is one of my favorite live performances. They are all playing perfect.
I agree with everything. Selena was so Beautiful and Pure. She was HUMBLE and TALENTED. There was even so much more to her than just music. She was a true artist on multiple levels such as a fashion designer who had her own clothing label. However, her brother AB, was also the mastermind of the Technocumbia sound. He was the song writer from the genesis, and has continued to write, produce, and mentor other Artists for many years. I thought he Should be mentioned as the entire family including Susie worked hard to make Selena who she was.
You are correct! She has that aura that mashed you keep an eye on her and she is amazing. BUT when she smiles she envelopes you into her warmth! Very genuine! A true talent and gone WAY 2 soon!!
2:50 - Yes, Selena was BIGGER than Whitney, Celine, Mariah, and, Madonna. She had the best of all of them 4. The only thing Selena didn't have was time, but she WOULD HAVE conquered the world.
Yes, 23 is a very young age to pass, some of the Artist's names you mentioned above didn't find Fame until after the age of 23 years, it's just the starting of one's Career, RIP SELENA XOXO
You are absolutely correct, Arab Man! There was a huge sense of presence, of importance, that she brought to the stage that nobody has ever brought the stage in my lifetime in the US. She was living fireworks, an explosion of joy and love.
Man, the 90s were a hell of a time. Especially when they made the movie for her and all those sad emotions that people felt about her tragic end resurfaced. Imagine how much more she could have become when she broke into the English market. She's a prime example of a bright star being snuffed far too early.
Selena was pure and talented, I love your reactions to her. And it makes me happy that you are enjoying her as a human being! Please review more of her music and enjoy!
Thank you for doing another reaction to Selena. In a couple of days it'll be her heavenly birthday. It would be so cool if you could do another reaction of hers to celebrate. There's many more good songs on that video from the Houston astrodome i.e. Techno Cumbia or La Carcacha which by the way she broke the record for most attendance up to that point.
Selena was absolutely effortless and Incredibly Talented 🎧🎼🌟💫🎶🙌🏽. I cried like a baby at the loss of this Amazing Singer. 🙏🏽♥️ * NO MI QUEDAS MAS please.
1:19 "Selena" made & designed her own Costumes. She also Taught Herself to Sing & Dance & the rest of her "amazing-ness" is her Star Power which she was born with. ❤❤❤RIP Selena [Gone far, far too soon xoxoxo]
Selena recorded her cross-over album before passing away, she recorded an English album. Look for DREAMING OF YOU and I COULD FALL IN LOVE… they are great songs too 💜
Thank you for reacting to the queen of tejano. Here in Texas, on the anniversary of her death we honor her by playing her music and celebrating her life. She was taken from us wayyyyyyy to early.
As Mexican and Selena's Fan i just wanna say thanks for keeping her alive, she is the one and olny QUEEN she had it ALL... 💙 Selena no perdio la vida, la vida perdió a Selena.
Let me tell you a little about Selena (pronounced Se-lee-na, not Se-la-na, as non english speaking people started calling her) was the total package on stage. But, off stage is where Selena really shined. She was down to earth, funny, friendly, talkative, exciting etc, etc. After her concerts in Laredo, Texas, the next day, along with her band and family would have breakfast at her favorite restaurant "Taco Palenque" and people would mostly leave them alone, but when they would approach, she talked to them like they were old friends, laughing, kidding and just very friendly. We lost an extremely genuine person who was down to earth. By the way, her and her family were Jehovah's Witnesses.
Arab man, you are just like my other Arab friends.....full of life, love, generosity, humility, peace and grace. Just like our Queen. If I could go back in time and change only one event in history I'd be stting outside room 158 in Corpus on Oct 31, 1995 waiting for Yolanda to return from the hospital because there is no single deed that can help the political reality of man but we are truly missing this angel and it still hurts 28 years later..... Do Si Una Vez from the same show
Nobody can go back in time and save her because her husband went on to have two children that would not have been born had she lived. She still lives within our hearts. I try to look at her as being frozen in Time forever at 23 not dead.
I really liked your comment that she was a diva but also the girl next door. That was a testment to her family keeping her grounded for sure. I was 14 years old when I saw this concernt live. I was higher in the cheap seats and could barely see her. Even though, it was electric for everybody and we had no idea we would be part of history that night. One thing I don't see mentioned when people see the concernt is there was a whole rodeo that happened just before she came out with barrel racing, bull riding, calf roping, etc. To be fair it's not super important but it was significant because every night after the livestock show and rodeo, there was a headliner artist and it was always a country singer like George Streight, Alan Jackson, Reba, etc, but it was only a few years before that they started to invite a Tejano artist for one night called 'Go Tajano Night', and Selena was the artist they invited that year to represent Tejano music. Just some random trivia. I love to see her music still inspires new people in 2023 and beyond.
Its 5:35 a.m. in México and i am crying her absence watching your reaction!!! So talented at 23!!! Chills , crazy to think she is having fun and twirling like its NOTHING, that was a profesional performer right there. SELENA FOREVER POR SIEMPRE.
Look her, she is dancing with the corous guy, like the first friend than found in the party 💃🕺🏻 She should be the best in the 🌎 entire world in that generation!❤
It’s amazing that you can feel the type of person she was.. most humble person that was approachable and didn’t have security to fend off her fans.. she welcomed them.. no doubt she would be bigger than Beyoncé

I love her so much! Whenever Selena had a concert, she always adds a cover of her favorite songs growing up. She was a huge Donna summer, Paul Abdul & MJ/janet Jackson fan. This woman was everything! 🙏🏼😍💛 you should do reactions of her singing at 16yr old, Janet & Michael’s songs
Such a great reaction! I would recommend La Carcacha live, but the performance where she's on a TV show wearing a black leather jacket. Really showcases her dancing abilities in that performance.
She was the Queen before the lable queen became such a mainstream term that means nothing nowadays. The level of authenticity in her personality and her love of music and sense of family and adoration for her audience was so unique and its just something that, to this day, remains unmatched. She meant so much to so many, still does and always will. Im not a firm believer in heaven but i do believe if its there then it was especially made for her, may she reign and rest in peace🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
I've watched a lot of people react to Selena and these 2 that you've done have been my favorite because I feel like you're really grasping her influence and impact she had along with educating yourself along the way. Thank you!! Some other great songs to react to (with subtitles): No Me Queda Más, Que Creías, Amor Prohibido, Bidi Bidi Bom Bom!
2:44--She was larger than life. I saw her on Nov/Dec, 1994. She came to Lakeland Civic Center, in Lakeland, Florida. My older cousins wanted to go see her. Sometime later, her set started and everyone went crazy, running (towards the front) and jumping on tables. I was scared, I thought someone was fighting. Well no, it was that everyone wanted to go up front to see her! I was mesmerized. Everything she did, was captivating. I remember seeing her hair and how the lights would go right through her hair. I could see that her hair was soft and thin, way different than my mom, sister and Mexicans, we have thick corse black hair. I've seen many shows, many entertainers since, no one has impacted as much as Selena.
Fun fact: her family including her brother, husband are in the band, her suzzette is the drummer but got injured so she couldn’t make this concert, and she says she bests herself up because this was her last concert😢
Reminds me to a CD collection back in the 90's called Dance Classics. Still available as a 15 CD box. It contains all the well known disco songs of the 70's and 80's
She was phenomenal and selfishly taken from this world. 😢 She’s like a breath of fresh air... beautiful, down to earth, and voice of a powerful angel. Long gone but never forgotten. RIP, Selena ❤ 🕊
I remember my friends and i would go see her all the time she was awesome and was a very natural beauty. My oldest brother danced with her at a local dance club where she would play before she became famous.
See this same show "Amor Prohibido" and " Bidi Bidi Bom Bom" , is so beautiful! Then listen to the song she recorded a few days before she died, "Dreaming of You". I cry every time with emotion... Selena forever! ❤❤❤
I met her once after a show at a local fast food. She was the most humble person. She is and will always be the Queen of Tejano music.
True Texas Royalty
You are so lucky, she’s truly beautiful
I was a child when she passed away and it impacted me so much. Completely shattered by her loss. I was only 7!
I was 16 and I was in denial, at that moment 😭😭😭
12 😭😭😭
During this performance Selena sang without any mic packs, no voice enhancements, water breaks all while wearing 4-5 inch heels on a rotating stage. She was hearing herself at a 4-6 second delay, so the fact that’s she’s on cue is amazing. She also designed this purple jumpsuit herself.
You should react to her live vocals during the 1993 Féria Monterrey singing “Que Creias”. Her talent and stage presence is unmatched til this day
If you react to “Que Creias” please look up lyric translation. So worth it! Selena uses a volunteer from the audience
Janet Jackson was one step ahead but...
She is very special and her death hurts
Selena was pure talent, and her family kept her grounded.
I miss her so much.
🎼 "Ooooh OOOh on the radio...
Ooooh OOOh on my radio..." 🎼
😊 This part on her voice just melts my heart away. So sweet.
Es la cantante más POLIFACÉTICA que he visto ❤❤❤
I was thinking the same thing, no autotune, no lypsincing no half naked dancers and still flawless and captivating.
Si Una Vez please!!!!!
Also worth mentioning… she doesn’t really stop moving.
Deberías ver el concierto de 1988 a pesar que fue más de música Tejana canto varias canciones en ingles y su entrada fue icónica también.
@@aaronbeatdown Also, doing it all in Heels. She was truly amazing
Arab man, when you paused at 5.37 the guy playing the guitar behind was the husband, Chris Perez
More Selena please 🙏 I absolutely love her! I cried like a baby when I found out that she had been murdered. So devastating😢 She was a great role model and miss her very much. She's one of a kind
:(
Exactly, she was genuine when she was on the stage. She was so humble ❤. That cannot be emulated
Keep in mind, beyond all the other things that have been said, the stage was moving. Continued to move in a circle throughout to accommodate the arena. So difficult for sound, hearing, control of any kind...and she sounds phenomenal.
And she didn't have an earpiece!
Down to earth, salt of the earth…whatever you want to call her. She was so darn lovable. ❤ RIP Selena
Please do some more Selena. I absolutely love your reactions to her. She was just one of a kind. No one will ever be able to replace her.
Yes, please make more reactions to this Selena concert 🙏🙏🙏
This medley is just so good. I always love who seemlessly each son transition into one another.
And she is so pretty to look at! We miss you Selena, what a tremendous loss!

Another huge influence for her was Janet Jackson! There's a few clips of her covering Janet's songs when Selena was 16 years old!
She would walk up to any fan. She was pure, humble and perfectly human. We miss her so much.
I agree with everything. Selena was so Beautiful and Pure. She was HUMBLE and TALENTED. There was even so much more to her than just music. She was a true artist on multiple levels such as a fashion designer who had her own clothing label.

Thanks Arab for playing Selena. She was a wonderful human being 😊.
She’s my favorite performer of all time!
She is is very genuine and beautiful great voice one that is amazing
Selena was and will be the Tex Mex queen. She was beautiful in every single way.
She is and will be our Queen forever!!!!❤❤❤❤
We definitely need more reaction of Selena from you!
That outfit is iconic. There’s even a limited edition Barbie dressed like her
She dedigned her own outfit.👌
That's the best way to kick off a concert! RIP Queen.🙏🏽

With all that movement during the set, her voice did not lose its power. She was a consummate artist.
Such a great reaction! I would recommend La Carcacha live, but the performance where she's on a TV show wearing a black leather jacket. Really showcases her dancing abilities in that performance.
I just put that link to that exact concert that you were referring to. Her dancing was incredible. I hope he does that one.
My favorite song from Selena is Dreaming of You.
I went to one of her last concerts months before she passed. We were devastated since we use to watch her on Johnny canales way before she got famous.

Another song that is fun and you can see her moving all around the stage is la carcacha
The stage that she was performing it was moving around ✨
Her brother AB came up with the technocumbia style. His post Selena band Kumbia Kings took it to the next level.
