We still celebrate her life here in Texas!!! Que VIVA LA REYNA!!! She may have been taken from all of us but, her music, legacy and love lives on!!! As a Mexican-American I absolutely love how different colors, creed honor her by reacting to her music. Ty you all ❤ I could fall in love with you by Selena is from her crossover album. Take a listen to it.
Some fun facts about Selena: * She broke the attendance record at the Houston Astrodome with over 64k fans that night. * This was her last and biggest concert right before she died, basically her goodbye concert. * She won a Grammy at only 22 years of age and was nominated for another one the same year she was killed. She also won another Grammy in 2021 for "lifetime achievement." * She kept winning all the awards in her genre, causing many artists to stop attending award shows knowing she would win. * She broke into Mexico, selling millions of records and gaining recognition from other big names in the industry. * She was in the process of recording an English album right before she was killed, only managing to record 4 tracks for that album. * When the album was released shortly after her death, it became the fastest-selling album in history, surpassing Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and even Michael Jackson. * Jennifer Lopez had a breakthrough with her portrayal of Selena, becoming the first Latina to be paid over 1 million dollars for a film. * There have been movies, Netflix shows, statues, museums, and books in her name, and she also has her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. * Huge cosmetic brands have released collections in her name, selling out in just 24 hours. * Her family has released several albums after her passing. To this day, Selena has sold more than 60 million albums worldwide. * Cities in Texas have held huge festivals in her name, attracting thousands of fans. * She has her own museum in her hometown of Corpus Christi, Texas. * I could continue, but I would never end, lol.
Her brother used to write her lyrics. Isn´t it odd that she is so remembered for this song that says I´m leaving now, and oh how it hurts. What a way to say goodbye.
She does a disco medley on this concert amazing. Our one and only queen forever will forever live. We are still mourning her death we can't let her go 😢😢
She was so humble and innocent mentally, so it was hard for her to accept that someone she loved, Yolanda, she couldn’t see the danger of going alone. Childhood friend here. Loved her and family!
She was a true performer not only she could sing but also knew how to take the stage and Dominate, control and made the audience engage, and that’s make a true performer, who nowadays do that,,None that I know of at this time
I loved Selena i saw her preform twice she gave us goosebumps! Her dancing, charisma, command of the stage was off the charts, and the voice. She was a beautiful representation of my culture. The beautiful romantic of the Spanish language to cumbias ranchers y boleros. It still hurts. .
You just watched the closing of Selena's last ever performance. Next you must do the opening of this concert, the disco medley is natural, pure, candid. It's a real gem.
Thank you for watching this 7abibi. This concert at the Astrodome was part of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (commonly just called "the rodeo" here), an annual event that lasts several weeks each February-March and attracts major musical artists each year. Back in the old days it was basically all country music but gradually began to expand to other genres. In the late 80s they discovered Latino music could be a great draw. I didn't attend this particular concert (less than two months before she died), but I did see her appearance at the rodeo the previous year (1992). You have to understand, Selena wasn't just a musical star. She was ADORED like a sister or a daughter by everyone who knew her. After her death, so many millions of people in Houston and beyond were in shock and in mourning. For weeks people would drive around with their headlights on in broad daylight as a tribute. Special masses at Catholic churches in Mexican American neighborhoods were held to honor her. It was such a loss, one we still feel to this day. Rest in peace Selena, we all love you.
I love you reactions!!! I hpoyou still have so more reactions to Mexican culture, really I love and whish you one day can learn spanish than you can go to my country México 🇲🇽 We love every body but specialy People like you. So welcome to México.
She broke the record of attendance at that dome with 67,997 fans breaking her previous two records in 1994 with I think 61,097 and 1993 with 57,000. Can only imagine if she could've performed in 1996 after the release of her English album.
After JLO made the movie, she felt so comfortable onstage and inspired by Selena that she began her music and fashion career(s) only really being a supporting actress up to that point in her early career.
You got to see the movie, or react to disco medley. She was SO HUGE. I would Love to know her for first time again. Greetings from Argentina. We all grow up dancing and singing her music from far away..
Her brother A.B Quintania wrote this song. I think hes the lead singer of the Cumbia Kings. But when Selena was Alive he was one of the guitarists & her sister Suzette played drums. I think Suzette manages Selena's fashion boutiques. And I could be wrong but I think she also manages the museum of Selena.
Her brother Abie Quintanilla actually wrote the lyrics to this song he was also in the band Los Dinos, the drummer was Suzette her sister and Chris the lead guitarist ended up being her husband
i write this today April 16th, just finding out about this fact about it being Selena day. how awesome it is to have a day in memory of her to her keep her legacy alive.
Selena was an American - Mexican descendent she was born in Livingston Texas ❗... She spoke English, she later learned to speak Spanish, to be able to sing in Spanish to her fans❗ .... They later moved to Corpus Christi Texas, that's where they still live now ❗ .... Even when they started making money they still remained in the same neighborhood, I believe in the same house until she and Chris got married and still they moved right next to her father and mother ❗
Kim Mota, yes there will never be another Selena. But you mentioned that she died 2 days after this concert?, This concert was on Feb 26 1995 and she passed away on March 31,1995.
You should make a reaction video of you watching Selena the movie. I have a good friend who played a part in the movie. At the end, she’s telling the people that they broke the attendance record. This is the Astrodome in Houston Tx. For a time when it was built, it was one of the most impressive stadiums in the world. She was hoping to break through the American market and recorded a few songs in English, but she was killed before they were released. The record became a huge success. She was about to become a new American diva.
Watch the whole concert. What they were ready to accomplish ❤ my heart aches for them. Her husband tries to continue but reality sets him back. Wished i could just hold him and let him know he isn't alone
Abe was criticized for the style, but I say he was ahead of his time. Him, his sister (Selena) , his other sister (on the drums) and Selena’s husband (on the guitar) were the perfect storm together. But she was the pièce de résistance. Without her there was nothing.
And because of the people magazine dedicating the magazine on her people en español was born , they saw rhe marketing with us Latino was huge so the magazine started doing the magazine also in Spanish, she broke her own records from the Houston livestock rodeo 3 yrs in a row , 1st in 1993 was her 1st record, 2nd was in 1994 was more higher more people than 1993 and 3rd and last time was in this iconic concert 1995 and all in the beautiful ASTRODOME which is not use anymore after been use for people needing stay after KATRINA. Yep, just can't....don't want to
our idol por siempre 🖤👑 La Reina.
We will never let her go. From San Antonio.
My absolute favorite lol
She was in the process of making her English debut album before she was taken away from us. What could've been.
She would’ve been bigger than jlo. Everything about Selena was beautiful.
I agree 💯 with you she was on her way to becoming bigger than Gloria Estefan and JLO is where she is, because of Selena 's movie
@nicoleputnam7778 so very true!!!! Selena was and still is AMAZING 😢❤
I'm literally crying right now watching this video. She was so talented. Gone too soon!
She was so humble and innocent mentally, so it was hard for her to accept that someone she loved, Yolanda, she couldn’t see the danger of going alone. Childhood friend here. Loved her and family!
So many years later and it still makes me want to cry the injustice of it all, she will forever be loved

Selena’s fans are waiting for Yolanda’s release date like no other. The vengeance is real, still after so much time. That woman must be terrified.
It's not a woman, it's an it....a monster and it may or may not be released. Not likely though, it remains in denial of the reality of the deed.
Love your reactions! Thank you!!
