This video will teach you how to tie possibly the easiest method for tying two fishing lines together, the Double Surgeon's Loop Knot! This knot can be used any time you need to tie two lines together, such as your main line and a leader line, and this video will show you the tricks to tie it quickly and effectively! This can be used to tie leader or tippet onto your main line and works for braid, monofilament, and fluorocarbon! This is one of the most widely used fishing knots which is easy/fast to tie and can be used to catch anything from trout, perch, panfish, bluegill, largemouth or smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye, muskie, salmon, red snapper, tuna, grouper, red and black drum, sheepshead, trigger fish, mackerel... basically anything you catch with a hook can be caught using this knot! Subscribe for more knots and tips, and thanks for watching!
Quick disclaimer: This is but one of many methods to successfully tie this knot, and it happens to be the best one I have found! I hope it works equally well for you, but if it doesn't, or if you have found something else that works better, I encourage you to stick to what works for you! I would always recommend practicing knots and testing their strength yourself to ensure you are comfortable with how they work, and to avoid flinging lures into the ocean on a failed knot (ask me how I know!). Knots take practice, so make sure you're comfortable with whatever you're tying prior to trusting it with your gear! If you have any questions about the knot, please post them below and I will do my best to answer them. I hope this is helpful, and tight lines!
Thanks for watching! Can you name this popular knot?
Triple surgeons knot
@@jdemartini9807is this a good knot for surf fishing?
This is only good if you got a short leader that you're tying on. If you got a 10 foot leader you've got a lot of line to pull through the loop every time.
Surgeon’s knot
Nothin' beats a good balloon knot!
So you have to pull the 9' of leader through the knot?
Good question-this knot definitely works best for short leader lengths! If you have to tie longer leaders, I recommend one of two knots, depending on the strength of the leader line. If it’s less than 30lb leader, I recommend the double uni knot:

If the leader is heavier than 30lbs, I recommend the FG knot, as otherwise the knot will catch in your eyelets:

I hope that’s helpful-thanks for watching and for the question!

I thought the same thing
I was thinking the same thing.
What is the strength of this knot compared to other popular line-2-line knots?
It's a fishing knot, so it's the Sturgeon's knot.
Not for fishing this not, obviously !
weak
pretty sure that is a Uni-knot.
Nope
Not quite! It’s the triple surgeon knot!
How strong is this knot?
Simple knot and it works. Like the line snips,
