    I see there's more: subbed !
    seeing this I'm surprised you had so much trouble with Cubase 14 recently (7 months later). What you did here in the key editor is as rudimentary as it might get in MIDI editing and it's what Cubase (and it predecessor 24 pro) pioneered in some 30 years ago 🙂
    anyhow, you're using Dorico (now also powering the score editor in Cubase) so no love lost for Steinberg I suppose 😁

    Great orchestration! It's also refreshing to see that your template doesn't have a separate track for each articulation. I particularly ditched that for sound variations (expression maps), but I still have a track for shorts and longs for each instrument. May I ask how do you make it work for you in terms of mixing and/or stems?

    • @cinematic.sound.sculptor
      @cinematic.sound.sculptor  6 місяців тому

      I usually make Legato as a separate track. Other articulations will be on the same track. I find expression maps in programs like Logic Pro are more neat and easier to use. When I work with a huge amount of instruments, I prefer to just use the keys to switch articulations so my template looks more organized. It's also a personal preference how you wanna organize your tracks and what makes your workflow faster depending on the projects 😊

    Very great tutorial, I like that it's detailed and the fact that sometimes, you don't just show how to do it but explain why one would do such a thing as well ! It would have been interesting if you had deconstructed the rythm for this kind of music (especially in the drums section) but there is plenty to learn from this video already !
    Btw i noticed that on the french horn melody the note seems to fall before the beat but maybe it's just the DAW that gives this impression (I don't know I never used reaper and I can't tell by ear) or it's intentional to convey a certain feeling. Since everthing sits so well together I guess it's either of them ?

    • @cinematic.sound.sculptor
      @cinematic.sound.sculptor  7 місяців тому

      Thanks for your feedback! I'll implement some details showing how the drum rhythm is constructed and etc. There's always so much to learn and it's never enough 😊
      If the French horns fall or out of sync, I suggest just drag the notes and let them start playing before the beats. French horns have slower attack tho so that's probably why they would sound slower and laggy

      @cinematic.sound.sculptor  Місяць тому

      @@rickarroyo Hi there! Thanks for watching! I never found a shortcut for moving notes octave + - so I added a customized shortcut. All you have to do is to go to Actions - New action - under Filter, search "Pitch item down one semitone", and double click on it 12 times (12 semitones makes up an octave), and under Custom action name, name it however you like, ex "One octave down". Then click on OK. Then in the Actions list, you'll see the "One octave down" action you just created, click on it, under "Shortcuts for selected action", click on "Add", then it'll prompt you with a window, in there, you can assign a shortcut to this action by typing on your keyboard. I use Alt + Num2. Once it's assigned, click on OK. Same way to set up for one octave up.
