They could have done this a long time ago with their McCafe brand. Offer everything that Mc Cafe has to offer along with breakfast sandwiches, deserts including classic apple pie and soft serve ice cream (as long as machine doesn’t break all the time). They can eliminate the rest of the Mc Donald’s menu. This new CosMc’s brand doesn’t look like it will stay the long term, just too funky looking and seems to target the young adult female market. It’s just to create buzz on social media and regular media. Unlike Starbucks, Mc Cafe shops would have all the automated machines and processes that a normal McDonalds would have to make the McCafe menu items.
There are a lot of online spinoff restaurants and ghost Kitchens that came into existence during the pandemic. McDonald's is trying to reach consumers who won't eat at the old brand but will possibly try the new one.
It's trendy. I wish people under 40 would realize that the crappy ways they care for their bodies is going to come back to haunt them in later years. Empty calories, artificial flavors and enough sugar to boost a racehorse.
I agree with everything you wrote. They should have expanded on the Mc Cafe brand instead. They could be a strong competitor for Starbucks and Dunkin. They could also add more coffee drinks, smoothies and bubble tea since it’s so popular now. Maybe add some donuts and cinnamon rolls for the breakfast crowd and add deli sandwiches to the menu for the lunch crowd.
Caffeine, Corn Syrup, powdered eggs, shelf stable bread, special process american meat. Tried and tested with the troops, and now coming to you hot and fast at a hollowed out ghost kitchen near you.

A big draw to starbucks and similar cafes is the ability to have free wifi and a place where you can sit down and chill or work. I’m not really sure what the appeal is for this place outside of the interesting drinks.
In NYC, Dunkin’ Donuts is a huge chain and I often only see them big enough for grab and go. Some places have seats but many don’t. I think it could work for those on the go and need a pick-me-up. Where are they going to get the locations? Where are they going to get the labor?
Will they be colocated at present McDonald's? In Canada, Tim Horton's is the drinks.
It's a bold move Cotton! Lets see how it plays out for them.
None of the food on that menu looks appealing to me. Those McPop's look dry enough to choke a desert. If they really wanted to shake things up in the beverage department they should've added a Pickle Slushy and throw 3 pickle chips in the cup. The same pickles use on their cheeseburgers. That would've been the drink of the summer! 🥒I am not feeling this new restaurant concept.
But the milkshake machine isn't working.
Like the employees.
...and the milkshake machine probably speaks better English, lol.
