I still will always find it hilarious that Amuro Ray's last moments in life is just being utterly baffled at Char's mother issues. No heroic last words, just sheer flabbergastation.
It's more ludicrous when you realize that as soon as Amuro was countering Char's rhetoric easily, Char just decides to start hitting below the belt by throwing Quess in Amuro's face, and when that wasn't working, unprompted, throwing Lalah's death at his face, which is monumentally rich because, though Amuro did literally kill her, she was only even there in the first place because of Char, from making her into a weapon, to dangling her in front of Amuro so he wouldn't fight back while they destroyed the White Base. So yes, Amuro's last moments in life is witnessing his hated rival for what the latter truly was, a petty man who had no ability to recognize that maybe, it wasn't always someone else's fault, whether the Zabis, Haman, or Amuro that he had problems. I watched MSG, Zeta, ZZ, CC, Unicorn, and 00. I'm watching Iron-Blooded Orphans next. I have become a huge fan of Gundam and can't wait to watch it all!
In case anyone was wondering what that Zeon cruiser was doing there at 0:35, Beltorchika's Children (Novel/Manga version of CCA) explains it as Char stuffing it full of nukes to detonate and further irradiate the Earth once Axis hits atmosphere...just a little cherry on top.
Actually, we all knew the answer because 1. The explosion was gigantic which does show that the ship had warheads. 2. After that explosion, we see the scene of Nanai and the ship captain felt the explosion shock wave that Nanai said "Cruiser 4's warheads have detonated!"
In the end, Char dies (pretty much) as the kind of person really is at his core: petty to the end. Notice that as soon as Amuro starts countering his misanthropic rhetoric, Char starts hitting below the belt regarding Quess and Lalah, especially as Amuro calls him out on using her, causing Char, out of nowhere, to start bringing Lalah into the argument, trying to hypocritically blame Amuro for her death one more time.
Char at this point didnt know what to do or say anymore. I mean he lost Lalah Sune and I thought I read somewhere he was with someone else and was going to be a father but then the woman died along with his child. And then there was Reccoa and Kamille. Lost Reccoa and then Kamille got brain shocked. And who knows what else drove him to this point.
@@usagitsukino608 Lalah was HIS fault, so there's no defending him there. Sure, Amuro's the one that ended her life, but she JUMPED in to save Char, who was practically dangling her in front of Amuro to get the latter to not attack while they attacked the White Base. Oh, and in the first place, he was the one who basically made her a weapon. So if you're saying she was pregnant at the time, then all the more it's his fault he made her go out on the field.
They wanted independence, not to destroy Earth. No one wanted a repeat of the original colony drop incident. In this moment, seeing Amuro's selflessness, the Zeon but their allegiance aside for the sake of humanity and the Earth, to prevent the deaths of billions of innocent lives.
That part was honestly the best thing that happens to this Axis Shock event. Like sure Earth has plenty of rotten peoples as with the space, but this way of punishing them was too extreme. So those soldiers willingly go against their orders for an act of humanity was soo touching to mean, especially when one overheat then a Jegan of all people still bother trying to save the Geera Doga even If he's long dead by then.
It's kinda interesting how in a way this is basically just Char committing elaborate suicide. After what happened in Zeta, he just broke. Seeing Kamille get his soul crushed, seeing the Zabi family live on, even after his efforts to kill all of them.
You got the last part wrong. He no longer hold grudge against the Zabi family after the one year war, because all of them except the then still baby Mineva died. He tried to raise Mineva with love after the war, but Hamann tried to corrupt her by teaching her Zabi family's extremism, also one of the reason why Char absolutely loathes Hamann.
I agree with the first part but to me this is Char as a failed revolutionary who is crushed by the expectation of his ancestry + the bloody nature of the countless battles he went through + the lack of real progress
The reason this fight would remain as one of the best fights for me is because i feel like the impact is real, you don’t get cool impact frames every 10 seconds, which although makes it looks a lot less climactic, the dialogue does the fighting too, it’s like that one fate episode where 3 king servants talk to eachother about the philosphy of what makes a king, this one talks debates with eachother and fight physically at the same time and it provides a satisfying end to a complex rivalry that has experienced many things together spanning decades at this point
Honestly, it seems a little better in that sense. Most mobile suits have the cockpit in the chest which poses a larger target for the attacking mobile suit, but if it’s in the head, even though the Sazabi is huge, it would still pose a little more of an advantage due to the smaller target
It did work for Zeong. Amuro thought Char's in the middle of the MA so he shot the chest, allowing the latter to detach and escape. Nothing beats Turn A's cockpit at the crotch, though.
As much as i like Unicorn and late UC, i kinda feel like CCA is thematically the best place to end UC gundam, with the Axis Shock serving as kind of a wake up call to humanity and putting an end to the EF/Zeon conflict. Though i guess Amuro never specified how long it would take for the rest of humanity to learn lol, just that he believed they eventually would.
not just that, but it grabs and tears out bits whenever it can. imagen a fist fight where one guy punches the other in the jaw, then grabs their throat with the same hand without drawing it back and tears out part of the other guys throat. Amuro was going ham
When both sides join in to push the axis is a moment when their humanity shines. When that MS trys to catch the Zaku like a brother 😢 their combined efforts saved the Earth
@@accelriderx2931 there was a mention on the Gundam wiki at least a year ago that said it was found in UC 105, but it's been edited. Now I actually have no clue. @@LockeLynx my headcanon is that it was ejected into deep space, and left there till it was recovered god knows how long later and developed into the Turn X units
I love how even though they have these super advanced mobile suits with an array of super high tech weaponry, in the end it comes down to char being all shocked and like “woah woah chill the hell out your not meant to do that” when Amuro just starts repeatedly punching him with the nu.
In the end amuro still respected char. He wants to understand him, understand why he’s resorted to such evil intentions after their camaraderie in zeta. Char on the other hand seems to be disinterested in understanding him. This isn’t because char thinks he’s better than amuro; I think deep down char considered amuro something like his oldest friend, and knew amuro was a better pilot. But char was completely empty at this point, he had lost everything he cared about. He loses the fight and blames it on his energy running out, even though amuro had lost the majority of his weapons and won either way.
In his final moments char is the most pathetic he’s ever been. A hero of both the one year war and the gryps conflict, his final words are insults thrown towards amuro and quess, both people who trusted him. If tominos point was to destroy chars character here I think he did it. Soldiers in tominos work seem to never have happy endings; that’s why civilians like kamille seem to live
Amuro could not save char, even though he seemed to really want to. Neither men could escape their past; char because he was fixated on it, amuro because he was constantly reminded of it. Ultimately though, this movies ending is a happy one; earth is saved, and it was the combined will of humanity that saved it. Maybe that was what tomino intended; we could not rely on two men alone to save the earth, we as a people had to take responsibility for it. Otherwise the mistakes would be repeated
@@cezarjulian0320 Actually you can't sympathize with either Char or Amuro, because Char's right that the system can't be changed and it needs to be taken down, but then he dismisses that earthnoids are poor, and Amuro is right humanity can change, but is wrong in that he contributes to state oppression.
Actually, we all knew the answer because
1. The explosion was gigantic which does show that the ship had warheads.
2. After that explosion, we see the scene of Nanai and the ship captain felt the explosion shock wave that Nanai said "Cruiser 4's warheads have detonated!"
I’m sure they explained it in the movie tho, if only for a brief moment

In the end, Char dies (pretty much) as the kind of person really is at his core: petty to the end. Notice that as soon as Amuro starts countering his misanthropic rhetoric, Char starts hitting below the belt regarding Quess and Lalah, especially as Amuro calls him out on using her, causing Char, out of nowhere, to start bringing Lalah into the argument, trying to hypocritically blame Amuro for her death one more time.

Lost Reccoa and then Kamille got brain shocked. And who knows what else drove him to this point.
@@usagitsukino608 Lalah was HIS fault, so there's no defending him there. Oh, and in the first place, he was the one who basically made her a weapon. So if you're saying she was pregnant at the time, then all the more it's his fault he made her go out on the field.

You got the last part wrong. He no longer hold grudge against the Zabi family after the one year war, because all of them except the then still baby Mineva died.

Pilot seat in the head of the unit?
That's just crazy.
That's because the abdomen area was used for its beam cannon.
Its not really that crazy, the Zeong had it
Honestly, it seems a little better in that sense.
