This really is the best tour of this ship I've watched, nothing was rushed and you showed us everything! I'm booked on the MS Rotterdam next spring, now I'm more than excited.
Best tour of a ship that I've seen, calm, logical and very complete. The ship is a far cry from the original Westerdam that we started our cruising on 30 odd years ago. Rule 1 then was never to take an elevator. However, over the years that sure changed.
Wow! We have friends that have gone on multiple cruises. Occasionally they take one and never leave at the ports. It is just a chance to totally unwind. Lots of things to do and relax.
This is such a well-done tour. I sailed the famous Rotterdam of 1959. I reconnected to HAL with the Statendam-class Veendam. With this Rotterdam, HAL remains true to their style and content and form and enhances it with the music row. I think one of the most important aspects of cruising for me is having multiple venues in the form of lounges where couples can dance. HAL delivers. BB King 2 level club, the Rolling Stone club, the dueling piano bar lounge and all of the ship like small intimate areas make this ship feel cozy and rich and nice. And for foodies, it delivers with multiple specialty restaurants. It delivers with spa services. The deck areas are excellent as well. If you want slides and rock climbing walls, there are other lines. I'm a big fan of this ship. It's a nice update to the Statendam class of ships. It's traditional but up to date.
Again, a great summary. Thank you so much for the feedback. I like more traditional cruising, so I don't need all the rock walls, ice rinks, bumper cars, etc. Give me a beautifully decorated ship with great food, places to relax/explore, and great service. :-) Have a great day.
Great tour we sail July 2024 to Norway. Very well appointed cruise ship with spaces that are very well throughout. We have a large group going and it should be a great ship with beautiful Norway ports.
Great tour! We're sailing to Hawaii on the Koningsdam for 17 days. Never sailed with HAL so I've been watching videos for this class of ship. Yours pointed out so many useful tips and bits of information that no one else had. Thank you for that!

Thank you for the feedback. As for the HAL Volendam ship in March, no we were not on that ship. I was in the middle of a huge house renovation and no funds or time for a cruise at that time (haha). Would have loved to have been there though. The artwork on that ship was beautiful.. HAL did a great job on this one.
we were on the rotterdam in june and had the 'have it all' package -- so we found that milkshakes from the gelato stand were included, but the gelato itself was not. the ice cream on the lido was good but the gelato was worth the extra charge.
I have been on HAL 32 days (3 different ships) and on Celebrity only 7 days (1 ship). With that limited knowledge of Celebrity, I am still going to have to say my preference now is Celebrity. I feel it is a better rounded experience (good mix of "classic and laid back" cruising like we prefer without being a "party, overly-activity-filled ship" that we don't prefer). I will be sailing on a different Celebrity ship in 3 months (the Eclipse) and look forward to sharing that information with all of you and to getting a better grasp of the cruise line itself. Hello!. So sorry for the delay. My Celebrity Reflection ship tour editing project has been consuming me. Anyway...I don't believe there is a self service laundry on board. We brought along some detergent with us and hand washed some small things as needed. Happy sailing!

Hello, Joseph! Walking the ship (especially when you take stairs only, no elevators) keeps you in shape that is for sure. We rarely gain weight on cruises even though we eat whatever we want. The cruise was 10 days. We were in Grand Turk, Amber Cove Dominican Republic, Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao. Thank you for watching. Happy Independence day to you as well.!!!!
