Most rewarding gaming I have done the last years is learn to fly the helicopter with HOTAS system. Took me about 4-5 hours, but now I can fly almost anything, although still can not land exactly where I want. Highly recommended!
Love the vid man. I have plenty of experience flying a Bell 212 in real life out of Fresno CA but I’m trying to use this sim to figure out how to nail the badass reverse approaches you see on tiktok where they land on the trucks to refill lmao. 6 years late but still a good video 👋🏻
For some reason I thought flying choppers was easier than airplanes. He's not kidding, they're difficult and you will die in FS many times before you get the hang of it.
FSX does not model the Vortex Ring State he mentions on landing. For it to appear in the program you will need the Dodosim 206 payware helicopter (which has VRS modelling built in), the Vert06_mod for Dirk Fassbender's AS332 which has a rudimentary VRS system (as well as a few other "failures" such as stuck rudder), or the external program Helicopter Total Realism (for all helicopters) which attempts to superimpose real-world flight dynamics onto FSX (with various degrees of success)
I get it. Patience. When landing I, stay at my cruising speed until im literally above my landing zone. I realised I need to have patience and slow down at a distance away from your landing zone.
The collective does not increase angle of attack The cyclic can increase angle of attack, the cyclic will raise one area of the swash plates, if it raises them from the front then that will raise angle of attack, the collective will raise the swash plates evenly in all directions, this will increase altitude while keeping the helicopter stable
i think he means collective increases the angle of attack on each individual blade, and the cyclic increases angle of attack on the spinning rotor disc
Hello country fly boy. How do you configure or set your collective in fsx control settings? I have not found the settings "collective" in FSX. So how did you set the collective? I have a twisted joy stick with rudder, throttle and bank controls?
No roles in the game unless you get a mission pack mod or something like that. Actually FSX does have some basic missions I think involving police recon if I remember correctly
CTRL or Shift + the enter or backspace key. each one does something different. for example Shift-Enter will raise the camera viewpoint, but Shift-backspace will lower it. Ctrl-enter will move back while CTRL-backspace has the opposite effect. and lastly CTRL-SHIFT-Enter will move ether left or right I cant remember off the top of my head. backspace will do the opposite
Sometimes they want to be a bitch. you can 'force' them on by entering slew mode, going up a few feet, exiting slew mode. The chopper will start to move but just re-enter slew mode and set it back on the ground. that will force the engine on.
DOOK FAN you need to try xplane it will be a whole new beginning trust me I've flown that same bell 206 on my profile pic and xplane so far has proven to be the closet
athens is the capital of greece and also another town is named Athens in georgia usa.it is like the name Tripoli. its a town in greece peloponissos arkadia regioo and also tripoli is in Libya and so on....

Yeah, Helicopters are hard! It has like 10x more the learning curve.
Your very positive, "Your gonna die"

that was great flying bra
Enjoyed that. Made me want to give it try.
What equipment are you using? I only have a joystick and throttles.
Another good vid, thanks,
PT
Saitek AV8R joystick. that's it. I don't have the space for anything else aside for maybe rudder pedals. but I don't have any pedals

He explained it correctly in the video. Cyclic changes the angle of the disk, collective changes the angle of the blades
Random question: is there a drone add on for example the IAI Heron, or the mq 9 reaper ?
I do remember seeing a freeware predator drone at one point.
how do helicopters behave using keyboard and mouse controls?
badly, very badly. your going to want a joystick for choppers. or at least a game pad like the 360 controller.
At the start of the video "You're gonna die" at the end of the video "it just takes practice"
Hello country fly boy. How do you configure or set your collective in fsx control settings?
I have not found the settings "collective" in FSX
It’s bound to throttle
Very nice.
Helicopters don't really use a variable throttle, the rotor speed stays the same, it's the pitch of the blades which changes
Oh yes they do
Hello country fly boy. How do you configure or set your collective in fsx control settings?
I have not found the settings "collective" in FSX.
So how did you set the collective?
I have a twisted joy stick with rudder, throttle and bank controls?
I believe Collective is bound to the same axis as throttle. So whatever the throttle axis is for other planes, will be used as collective on choppers.

Are you roll playing being a cop,
or is that an actual roll you can play in the game?
No roles in the game unless you get a mission pack mod or something like that. Actually FSX does have some basic missions I think involving police recon if I remember correctly
you should try the dodosim 206
I have it. I believe its showed up in some other videos.
how do you move the camera around the cockpit?
CTRL or Shift + the enter or backspace key. each one does something different. for example Shift-Enter will raise the camera viewpoint, but Shift-backspace will lower it. Ctrl-enter will move back while CTRL-backspace has the opposite effect. and lastly CTRL-SHIFT-Enter will move ether left or right I cant remember off the top of my head. backspace will do the opposite

How can you control the rudders?
The rudder keys

Can you say "Hey diddily neighbor" at some point?
maybe
Had a much harder experience flying helicopters in X-PLANE
in FSX i have a lot of experience flying helicopters AVIATOR-777

Athens is in Greece not Georgia
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athens,_Georgia
Ah, its in the USA, i thought it is the capitol of Greece
Good video though you're good at explaining:)
You do know that there can be multiple places named the same thing right?

Pleeeeeeease don't say "tarmac" x'D
this is another helicopter tutorial with 5+ minutes intro about nothing, WTF
(but this one actually explains how to fly, so thanks)
