- End of the year (2020) update on what I am paying for sheet copper. As presented, the price of copper on the commodities market has risen this year. This carries over to the price for finished copper sheet, copper tubing and copper wire.
I’ve been fortunate to find good prices on the copper that I use at guttersupply.com.
I usually buy in 2’ x 8’ sheets of 16 oz. copper. (16 oz. per square foot).
I discovered that Gutter Supply also sell copper in coils.
Shown in the video is a 15” x 40’ copper coil of 20 oz. copper.

Thanks, George !
Margaret, so glad that it's useful.
George, you’re the best!
Thanks Jane. Best to you in 2021
This is great info George. I bought the rolled copper in 16 and 20 oz. Even at the high prices today it is so much cheaper than the prices anywhere else. Ebay, Online Metals, etc. Not even close.
Thanks
Yes it is a good price. Back in the 1970's I was paying over $3.00 per pound. George
Thanks
Greg, thanks for commenting.
I really appreciated all your video here, I do not have investment on education.
Thank you so much for educating me 🌸💕
Thanks for commenting. It's definitely my pleasure to share what I know.
Thanks for commenting. Glad these videos are helpful. George
Im lucky that a local scrap yard by me always have some copper wire and sheets that I can buy. I dont sell my work yet so it works for me to tinker with. Happy new years!
You are fortunate. I get my copper wire at a recycler for the Magic Wands, but they rarely have sheet copper except small pieces. Wishing you the best for 2021.
@@897473 for copper shot glasses would you use a silver solder or a lower temperature solder? I've been working with silver solder more because it seems to hold together better when I have to heat another part of the pice up. Thank you.
@@petergosinski3967 Peter, I have very limited experience with soldering, and seldom use silver solder. If heat is the problem you might check out "heat blockers". Rectorseal 83560 Hot Block Reusable Heat Absorption Putty and Thermo-Trap Paste.
I've been watching these very informative videos because I want to incorporate copper into my leather art. What a great series!
Now a question for you copper guys. I've been looking for heavy copper rings, about an inch in diameter. All I'm finding is plated zinc. Does anyone know of a source? I only need a dozen or so, - not quantities. They could be open and not soldered, or closed - even cast. Any leads?
Not sure what you mean by "rings". Do you mean wearable rings? What do you consider "heavy". Define this a bit more and maybe I can suggest a source.
@@897473 Thanks for the reply, George. Like this, but these are zinc and I need 1" OD tackstore.org/shop/2-pack-antique-copper-ring-1-1-4-inside-diameter/
@@Automedon2 Go to your big box store, like Home Depot, and buy a length of copper electrical wire in the diameter you want. Wrap it around a diameter like a broom stick or piece of pipe. Cut apart into rings. If you know how to solder you can solder these together or find a friend that solders or brazes. I'm sure you would prefer to buy these ready made, but I can't find any source.
@@897473 Thanks George. If I can find a heavy enough gauge, I'll do it myself. Why didn't I think of that first? LOL
