I have this very issue on my 36k sv. she dumped oil like yours just as I pulled into my neighborhood, oil everywhere. scary how my back tire was coated, unknowingly I did not rev, or lean the bike but creeped her into my driveway. I'm a DIY-er, and this awesome video will help tremendously. Thanks.
Great. After my first track day I also found the 32mm front socket nut hand tight. And now that I clicked on and watched this video, I've probably jinxed myself into needing to do this procedure at some point soon... Thanks for the vid. Super useful.
I had the exact same thing happen this weekend while on track, and found the nut holding the sprocket loose too, very odd. Gave that bushing a little tap with a punch, freed it right up, replacing it anyways . Nice vid thanks !
Good video my 2001 cbr600f seal went yesterday I know some have a lip on the seal which means complete engine strip to split the case but luckily my seal is the same as yours also instead of using wood just get someone to put foot on the rear break
Just wondering if the bearing in there can be replaced as well without taking the engine apart? I’m replacing my seal as well and decided to replace all those pieces plus the bearing. Thanks bro
Hello sir thank you for the great video question for you I keep having oil leak from the pushrod shaft seal and I replaced it twice including the pushrod itself I just don’t understand what I’m doing wrong do you have any insight? It’s been suggested that it might be my output shaft seal. What would happen if you didn’t have a seal in perfectly flush because it’s possible to push it in too far?
Your video was super helpful bro but I messed up. When I seen you installed the seal I couldn’t figure out how far you went in. When I installed it I made it all the way back to where it wasn’t going any further and it started leaking as soon as I turned the bike on. Did I go to far in or did I hit it too hard. Or did I do both? lol
How did you get the 10mm bolt off from next to the engine?, did you have to take the cover off a bit so it could slide over for easier access with the socket?
you pop the shifter linkage off (run the bolt out and slide it off the shift shaft) and then 3 8mm bolts out on the sprocket cover (not pictured cause i dont run one).
Hi, i might have the same problem. arrived home a huge load of oil on my bike. and under. oil level just a lil under the F mark. went to wash it off everything is clean. running the bike in neutral. No dripping. (what i could see 11pm) went home everything how it was before. huge load of oil again.... sv650s k3 any idea if its the same? Thanks for the help
i'm not sure the sprocket should have that play on the shaft, it may be an indication of some spline wear.. a moly grease should definitely applied to the splines
@@r3dhorse im not sure what the service manual says off the top of my head but the lock washer does the job. As does the ridiculously large torque spec
Are you sure the metal bushing is a disposable part? I have to do this job and I’m making my part order. I get the o ring needs to be replaced, but the metal sleeve seems pretty substantial. Thanks for the video.
on other bikes at least, the replacement kits come with the bushing. and the seal got torn by SOMETHING right, so that something is likely a scratch or something similar in the bushing.
@@Mad8vCycles No it’s an zx10 07 I have all the parts just need to take the bearing off and yeah I’ve been at it for a whole hour while it’s spinning in neutral. Guess I just need to keep going turning left and pulling at the same time.
almost sounds like a chain alignment issue or something like that? or chain guide being rubbed through? just sounds like chain links dragging on something metal

thanks, i was actually overdue on a seal job myself for an sv1000. this helped immensely.
I need to do mine on my sv1k, is it the same exact process? The seal I have looks different than his.

32mm! Thats the magic number :) i somehow dont have it in metric so ive been using the sae
Are you sure it's 32? So I have to bought socket for my SV to loosen it.
Measure it? It's just the distance between outside edges

i dont usually have anyone at the shop with me. and a 2x4 jamming the wheel will be stronger than the brakes.
Saved me from having to take it to someone. Thankyou♥️

Hey, this was very useful. BTW what kind of rear sprocket you have? 44 525?
I mostly run 520 15/45 but i want drive more than low rpm

If it's not even it isnt gonna seal well. You just need it deep enough to fit it flat w the lip

Clean it up, then look where it's coming from. Or spray foot powder to see where the liquid is

You're better off just replacing it whilst you're there anyway, they're cheap enough

In neutral the whole shaft will spin
Where can I find the counter shaft seal for 99 sv650? Idk why I can't find it anywhere.
I can not find the parts.
Try searching for an Output shaft seal or Final Drive seal depending on what country you live in, they're named differently everywhere, should help!
