I really agree.. when you have to ask what you are. I feel really offended.. .. as a straight person it makes me feel less of a woman because i ‘don’t pass’ as a woman. Its also just uncomfortable. I don’t want my sex to be my entire identity.
So when you tell someone your name, and they call you a name other than your own, do you correct them or no? And if don't believe in gender identity, then you're simply whatever you've always been. This whole "identify as" rhetoric isn't even something trans or non conforming people use. They usually just say "I am".
My name is _______, and I’m actually gender critical, so I’ll trust everyone to continue relying on the time-honored practice of assuming my sex to determine which pronouns are right for me.
If someone from HR called me to account at work and called me 'trans-phobic' for refusing to state my pronouns, implying that it is a given that trans-people can just assert that they are anything they choose to be and so I must agree, I would tell them the following. I suggest you do the same.... 1. You call me trans-phobic? That makes no sense. Let's tackle the 'trans' part of your accusation for my non-compliance. To say that means that you've irrationally inferred that I already believe that trans-gender status (and its ideology to increase their righs) is something I believe in (that someone can assert they are the opposite sex just by dint of assertion). I do not believe that, which should be obvious to you, otherwise you would not have called me transphobic in the first place. I believe there are biological males and biological females determined by a doctor at birth (not assigned). One is generally referred to as Master or Mr, the other Miss or Mrs or Ms. There are no alternatives. 2. Let's tackle phobia next. I can't be trans-phobic becuase to be phobic toward 'something' - in this case trans - you have to believe trans, in this context, exists. I do not believe it does exists. Likewise, to be phobic toward spiders, I have to believe and know they exist first. Otherwise I cannot be arachnophobic. You also misapply the word phobia, no matter what my views on trans are. Phobia means to have a severe adverse reaction or fear of something or someone that is disproportionate to the threat they actually present. I am not fearful of trans people, and nor can I have an irrational overstrong adverse reaction to them, as I don't believe they exist to present a threat (hence my first point), therefore I cannot be phobic toward trans people by default. I can't be afraid or have an adverse reaction to something that doesn't exist, nor do I believe that any person - no matter how they identify - are scary or pose a threat in any way, to me personally. I fail to see how declaring my pronouns would have an impact on any actual or perceived threat posed. Thank you for your irrational, inaccurate name calling which is designed to coerce and control my actions, which has nothing to do with performing my job. I will now be calling for your dismissal on the grounds of bullying. Failure to discipline you or if I find myself fired for 'transphobia' or for not conforming to institutional bullying, will result in legal action for compensation and legal costs. This conversation iis now over. If the HR person uses the term 'inclusive or diverse' to justify what they are doing, I - as a female - would tell them that my rights to keep my identity private and my rights as a female are being compromised, which would result in legal action for female discrimination. Just hang these Wokes out to dry by making it absolutely clear that you here to do a job not adopt an ideology.
One of my former customers has "he/him" next to his name on LinkedIn. I've had people with no interest or knowledge about the culture wars come up to me (because they know I follow the subject) and ask me if it's the woke stuff I keep banging on about. Normies think this stuff is absolutely ludicrous. They think he's an idiot. The guy isn't even trans, just a normal bloke that is keen to virtue signal I guess.
Trans people also object to pronoun declarations because, similar to the lesbian situation, they've done all this work to adopt secondary sex characteristics and present as the opposite sex, and they're being told it's not obvious that they'd prefer to be called "she" or "he"?
@GBNews. I'm here for the likes of Titania and Andrew Doyle (I tried, in my ignorance, once to spar with Titania on Twitter - but then I was banned from Twitter for life for transphobia, so could no longer follow her). I'm here for Andrew Doyle. But I DO NOT WANT NIGEL FARAGE!
It's about time people started to recognise this is not the same issue as trans people. There are a lot of people in the Autism community with this identity issue, and it leads me to thinking, perhaps these people need to get themselves tested, and those with a negative test, are the ones just jumping on the bandwagon.
If we get to a point where we are officially compelled to 'state our pronouns', maybe we can we just give them: "that-über-cool-dude/that-über-cool-dude's"...? (I mean, why not...?)
Pronouns are the words other people use. You don't get to choose your pronouns any more than you get to choose your adjectives. You don't get to force people to describe you the way you want to be described. Especially when you're not around. Pronouns are, after all, a third-person thing.
Some languages are genderless (it) when spoken but gendered (he/she/it) when written. When you're speaking with someone you can ask for clarity if there's any potential confusion but, when the author isn't present, more clarity is achievable without a full expansion of the names in the text being necessary.
You're thinking of Mandarin, aren't you? But some languages, like Hindi, don't even have words for "he" or "she." Hindi uses "this" (person) or "that" (person). In Japanese, the most common third-person "pronoun" is the two-word term "ano hito" (that person) (alternatively "sono hito") or "kono hito" (this person). Which means that if you start overhearing a conversation about somebody you don't know, you will have no way of knowing whether that person is male or female.
Hmmm... a comment of mine is shadow banned. I really do hope it's UA-cam censors and not this channel's mods. Genuinely nothing offensive in it unless you lean towards the SJW end of the spectrum and operate on feelings.
I don't buy into the concept that people have pronouns that they can say are "theirs" I don't think you can say that the language other people use to talk about you, belongs to you
And, oh yes. It is the way to agree that a man like my ex h, who IDs as female, can, in NY state, now say he is the "mother" of our children. Yes, in legal, official documents. But, of course, you get out of paying child support when you are a "woman", and proceed to the C suite, as mine did. Now is Chief Operating Officer of multinational, multi-million corporation. Managed to pretend I and our boys did not exist, in the corporate world. Makes 6 figure salary. I, the "birth mother" merely taught Kindergarten. Did carry the kids on my insurance.
Thumbs up x10. The need for people to over-complicate this phenomenon feeds their narcissism and histrionics. The most obvious potential solution is to introduce a new, gender neutral pronoun into the culture and maybe it will catch on, maybe not. Give people one viable option, I've been told that the Turkish language has a gender neutral pronoun. This would make everyone the same, straights, gays, cis and trans, all the same pronoun, and that's the last thing the intersectionaists want. Some feminists were proposing this in the 1970s, they presented a new pronoun and urged society to adopt it. Some proposed 'gen', like genkind instead of mankind. It didn't catch on, now would be the time to go back to this proposal. This movement is really about creating new identities of oppression to adopt easily, a straight person can easily identify under the LGBT umbrella today. That's fine, but we need to understand this, it's diluting all meaning. It's more ways to bring attention to oneself. That does harm to actual trans people and many others as Andrew has explained here.
It sounded quite a compelling argument but not sure I agree. Firstly you use “they” when you can’t tell someone’s sex - ok usually that means they are a stranger but it’s not much of a stretch to use it for someone who doesn’t want their gender defined. I do agree however that getting people to define their pronouns is well over the top. However if someone prefers a different pronoun then they can make it known. If it’s a genuine request then it’s polite socially to use it. In the same way if someone who prefers to be called a different name than their formal one, eg a nickname or unusual shortened version. I don’t call that compelled. speech.

@GBNews.
He's allergic to quiche! Right! I'll have to unsubscribe, then.
My pronouns are Sir/His Lordship
Mine is King Arthur.
@@DieFlabbergast Other languages too... Hungarian, Estonian, Finnish, as other examples.
'They'...can kiss my back side
My pronouns are "your" and "mum"
Hmmm... a comment of mine is shadow banned. I really do hope it's UA-cam censors and not this channel's mods. Genuinely nothing offensive in it unless you lean towards the SJW end of the spectrum and operate on feelings.
Hmmm pronouns? .. Have a poll with all who support this and ask them what a pronoun is.
Just realised .. maybe they are teaching them English.
Just say I dont accept the constraints of Pro Noun shackles....However "My Spirit Animal" is ------____?
I don't buy into the concept that people have pronouns that they can say are "theirs" I don't think you can say that the language other people use to talk about you, belongs to you
Just say you're not religious or delusional or narcissistic.
Grow a pair. Don't go along with all the nonsense.
I don’t call that compelled. speech.
Really Andrew... I worked in a famous department store and when the details of the sale and delivery there was a huge list of pronouns..madam, miss, mrs, Rev, sir, highness [it was a posh store]... mr etc. try working in Parliament..it is all pronouns
Those are not pronouns; they are titles. Look up these words in a dictionary.
The're snowflakes....!?! seems they is used frequently Andrew ...
tsssssss....
I don't go by gender now it's too complicated, I'll stick to sex and science. When u go to doctors they don't say do u want to know gender or have gender written on birth certificates like then woke brigade have u believing its sex male or female
It's NOT "complicated." Things cannot be complicated if they don't exist. Apart from grammatical gender, which hardly exists in English, there is no such thing.
It is almost impossible to read a piece that uses they and them in the way prescribed by the zealots.
If asking for someone's pronouns is "compelled speech", then how is asking for your name not?
