The unique drum sounds that you used in your initial sequence is what I go for. I'm learning all the time. I jump in on the Sh-4d with Bank 3 (no presets), Select an engine, Shift 10 (init) and start from scratch. Then the Tie button by holding down the note and hitting the Tie button repeatedly..and smudging it out by filtering. Only complaint, Write function is confusing, lack of Metronome, or count in. Hoping they address that in an update but Roland's history is they might do 2 or 3 updates on a new machine but then abandon it.

On the bass put a oscillator an octave up and or add in bit of bitcrusher / distortion / ect for some mid range...hell maybe even a ring mod if desperate. Hell could sequence bass notes with stacked octaves and adjust velocity to blend volume levels ( page 60 in manual covers velocity and note length editing ).
Must be a good thingy hence the fact that you pet it.

Does is sound sufficiently Rolandesque? It seems to have more contemporary sounds. What do you think? I like the Roland sounds and I prefer the price of this compared to the Jupiter Xm.

This is priced way less than the Jupiter Xm for a reason... the Xm has way, way more features. I do like what I have been hearing out of this little box, though.
Hi Alber, please, would it be possible to provide more information about combo SH-4d and Digitakt as main MIDI sequencer? How good is MIDI implementation on Rolands side? Are you able to switch sounds on SH-4d from Digitakt? I have SH-4d and I am thinking about Digitakt as main centerpiece...Thanks a lot!

@@AlbertoTRP Hi Alberto, sorry for impatience, but i have combo of DT and SH in front of me, but I am not able to rocksolid switch tones (patches) on SH from DT. Any video or shared experience about this will be very helpful.

I thought the digitakt can only record /play 4 notes per MIDI track… also will it pass thru more than 4 notes at one time per channel for recording on the sh4d ?
You are right but there's many ways to go around this. Either set more than one midi track on the DT toward the same part, or use nudge on a single track to move trigs on top of each other.
Forgot to add, if you are just playing live through the DT without sequencing anything you can play as many notes as the SH4D will let you, which is a lot!
