what a crazy game. All those spins back and forth . Really hurts the guy thats supposed to have the advantage... but its a luck based game....
At this point in the series, we've had five instances where someone had as much as $3000 going into Round 2. (This not being one of them obviously, but...) Guess how many of those five went on to win their games?
Try ZERO!
So much for that vaunted "Round 2 advantage"...
19:40 Peter points out that Ted indeed went two games without a Whammy. Despite losing here, that would certainly put him in an elite group, as it were.
This was a very satisfying episode to watch.
This is the way spin battles are made popular.
That was an intense 2nd round with all the spin passing. I'm glad Dave won, I didn't want him to hit a Whammy and lose the Car.
Ted's final hit, the trip to Frankfurt, is $4236 (courtesy of the next time it was hit, not until Beth in Episode 59!). That puts his final total at $9721, and within a hair's breadth of this being our first game where all three players finish in five figures.
Sidebar: That puts Frankfurt in the upper prize tier, as well - only the tent trailer and car are worth more at this point, the former by only about 100.
12:35 THERE IT IS!!!
Ted really didn’t stand a chance unless he had hit square #4 a certain number of times.
Classic awesome
It's amazing how this show lasted three seasons, and the original game show Second Chance lasted 13 weeks. Could it have been the time slot had something to do with it?
And it ALWAYS had a spot on the USA Network gameshow lineup for nearly triple the time.
@@PYLrulz1984 But the ABC Nighttime show, is in it's 4th year.
Aired on CBS daytime Thursday, November 3, 1983.
The first spin battle ever BEFORE Lori and Cathy had THEIR spin battle.
And with a LOT less +spins on the board too...
Do you know the episode/season with Lori and Cathy? Don't think I've seen that episode.
@@cinemaholic730 episode 232
Oy... the only reason that's the one that gets remembered is because it ended with the record loss. Just three months before that, Becky and David had one of their own - she got to keep her big total AND build on it to a new-record win! But nobody remembers that, because, Michael Larsen just three weeks later. 😝
I love the confused look after Ted hit Frankfurt, did he really think that was a $14,000 trip?
6:36 We can do it again, indeed...
0:47 they cut the contestant interviews
The same thing happened in the first episode of PYL
Janis trailed Dave by as little as $794 - she must've been scared of the Whammy. I'd have gone for it instead of passing it back.
Dave from the intros
Janis also from the intros
David Wagner got to avoid the whammy &win overall 30,000 in cash ,& got the Nissan sentra.
15:38 and 16:03 are from the intros
Why did she pass with only 800 less?? That cost her the game
Same reason you would do it if it was the only spin left in play.
@@shanejones8884 but if she gets over 794, she has the lead, and a 3rd player who is unlikely to get into position. Watch how Chris Kass played. Pure smarts.
Indeed, though from going through the early episodes, you really don't see much strategy at work. There's maybe basic strategy at best.
Was Janis right passing 1 spin to Ted?
Dan Barker
That was a very intense second round.
15:39 When she jumped to $12950, she absolutely should not have passed it back, as just 800 would have put her in front (probably to stay). In this high-pressure situation, however, I can definitely understand being fearful of the Whammy.
Michael J. Kerkau 15:39 is also from the intros
Yes
Is Ted the 1st player to never hit a whammy?
Nope
