Anaal Nathrakh is one of my favorite bands, so I was ecstatic when this popped up in my notifications! Their discography is as long as their songs are insane, but I will pick 3 songs for you to explore: Between Shit and Piss we are born - A classic. If you like More Of Fire Than Blood, you will like this one Submission is for the Weak - From their debut album. Another classic and very raw. A Metaphor for the Dead - The "radio friendly" song (lol). The vocalist proves with this song that he has an impressive range.
Yeah, he liked Fleshgod... and AMFTD has that classical thing going on. Love that tune. Love AN. I didn't know what was happening the first time I heard them either. Seen them 5+ times live and they've always been savage.
I think this is your best reaction ever man!!! At first you was shocked, but then you understand, there is a lot of intelligence behind the chaos......
Shit you actually did it, haha. Props to you man! The first time I listened to them I actually really disliked them because it was all just noise to me (especially their earlier stuff). But once they released Vanitas, the music became a lot more accesible, and I worked my way back in their discography after that. The albums Desideratum and The Whole of Law have a much more melodic tone.. as much as it can have anyway, it's still super chaotic but yeah. If you end up listening to another song of them, I recommend something off of those two albums! Also they actually tour quite extensively! At least in The Netherlands, since they are Brits it's pretty close. I've seen them 3 times in the past two years so.. plenty of opportunity to see them live.. yes they are just as amazing as you think they are
Hell is empty and all the devils are here When fire rains from the sky, mankind will reap as he has sown Obscene as cancer We will fucking kill you It's like an Agoraphobic Nosebleed track title list but with any semblance of taking the piss removed... As if the joke is that they're not joking.
'Hold you children close and pray for Oblivion' is one of my fav AN songs, great title, lyrics, sound, everything. That album was the first I properly listened to before really getting into them, and still one of my fav albums of theirs for sure. This is also one of my favorite songs from In The Constellation of The Black Widow. 'So be it' is great too among others, stellar album! \m/
Some of the greatest Anaal Nathrakh songs in my opinion: Drug Fucking Abomination Forging Towards The Sunset Of Fire, And Fucking Pigs Between Shit And Piss We Are Born When The Lion Devours Both Dragon And Child
Check out "Of Horror, And The Black Shawls". You'll love it. It's still pretty extreme like this song, but they brought a different angle to their music by incorporating a bit of melodic black metal influences to their sound.
I get the feeling he's into bands that take you on a trip. Whether it's tool or anaal, you're in a different place than where you were when you started
They do tour. 2 permanent members. All the the others are live session ones. Their live show is quite as intense as their music. They had a new album last year and they performed here with Samael and Sinister. I guess the album that I like most is Eschaton. Look for the live vid of Bellum Omnium contra Omnes (the one from Hellfest 2008). One hell of a band! They have quite an unique approach regarding the style they play (well... back when they started). A mix of grindcore/crust with black and industrial.
I saw them live last year at Dark MoFo in Tasmania and they were absolutely incredible: so much brutal energy. Live recordings on UA-cam simply do not do the band justice, as the dynamics often just aren't picked up (at all) when recorded on a handheld device and the result is a distorted mess. Absolutely excellent band. You've probably already checked it out by now, but their latest album "The Whole of the Law" is killer; I'd say my favourite track from it is "Hold Your Children Close and Pray for Oblivion" (which you can sort of treat as being part of a medley with its previous and next tracks).
Awesome band and another great review, Anaal's forging towards the sunset if poss???? or anything of inferi's the path of apotheosis, or anything from ne obliviscaris. keep it sic and respect from the UK
Hey Ruben, been watching you for a bit so I dunno how this one slipped by me, I love Anaal Nathrakh. Someone else in the comments recommended their song "A Metaphor for the Dead" and I'm totally behind that. Amazing fucking song.
I recomend you to listen to Zyklon, extreme blackenned-death metal with hints of industrial, and the first 2 Pitchshifter albums, industrial death metal at its best
Hah! Your reaction was reminiscent of the first time I heard them too.. "WhaT thE FUCK WAS THAT?" "I kinda digged it a lot"... then the more you get into their discography you love them more and more. They have some AMAZING songs.. This one isn't among their best ones, but yeah... They were originally only a studio band and said they wouldn't tour, but the demand was so high that they finally decided to start doing it a few years back. Their newer albums are much better produced and have a much cleaner and less discombobulated sound. The combination of absolutely extreme sounding riffs with the drums and vocals, and then going into the heavy clean vocals for the chorus is just absolutely killer. It's really really extreme sounding, but yet weirdly quite melodic and beautiful sounding.
Same reaction for me. I restarted... and I like it sssoooo much ! It s like a iron fist in the head. Very fresh and every electronic sounds are used with subtility ... for an extreme band it s great.
Great video as usual. Keep them coming. I hope this song isn't considered one of there better songs. I'll give them a chance. I'll listen to more of there music. But this song....... just on the boarder of just ok. That chorus was lame. It killed the momentum of the song, I thought.
Th- what are you on, do you even listen to deathcore. They dont even sound like death core, well the guy who does all the instruments does mixing and mastering for deathcore bands (for example carnifex) and if this band was more "deathcore" i would welcome it, its a lot better then the death core you get now a days which is mainly all bland and sound the same. Plus they feel more grindcore if anything
I am in love with the idea that this glorious, ludicrously over the top sheer assault of violent noise is selling out... It's like a britney concert. If everyone present had pcp injected into their eyes and two malevolent brummies took charge to vent their rage unrelentingly
Anaal is one of my favorite bands. Their latest two albums blew me away and is what got me into them

Late comment, yeah, but I whole-heartedly second that nomination for "A Metaphor for the Dead"

Hold you children close and pray for Oblivion. yes...thats the title...thats what made me like them. wonderful blend.
They are great at titles... "A Firm Foundation Of Unyielding Despair"
Hell is empty and all the devils are here
When fire rains from the sky, mankind will reap as he has sown
Obscene as cancer
We will fucking kill you

The vocalist is a beast with his voice
I discovered them with Of Fire, and Fucking Pigs song. I remember I was shellshocked and listened to the song 9 times in a row.
Dragged into Sunlight - Buried With Leeches
Hold your children close and pray for oblivion by Anaal nathrakh!!! Is one theyre best songs ever!!!!!..
Ruben Buijs is not into extreme metal, only into the most extreme metal bands.
All the best wishes.
I get the feeling he's into bands that take you on a trip. Whether it's tool or anaal, you're in a different place than where you were when you started

Pretty much sums up my first reaction when I heard them for the first time :-D

Awesome that you did this song! You should check out more of them, Forging Towards the Sunset is one of my favorites by them.
Thanks man!!
You showed us really the full range of existing human emotions)))
Awesome band and another great review, Anaal's forging towards the sunset if poss???? or anything of inferi's the path of apotheosis, or anything from ne obliviscaris. keep it sic and respect from the UK
Anaal Nathrakh have been around for years and years , awesome band
Yooo I requested this! I never saw this until now for some reason.
YES!!! You did it... If you want more of the melodic stuff of them, try Anaal Nathrakh - Between shit and piss we are born
Only today i saw that you react to Anaal Nathrakh. I'm really happy that you liked! Hell Yes!
Hey Ruben, been watching you for a bit so I dunno how this one slipped by me, I love Anaal Nathrakh.
Someone else in the comments recommended their song "A Metaphor for the Dead" and I'm totally behind that. Amazing fucking song.
My favourite band!
Yeah!
Seen them live, it was brutal great sound and performance. Up there with Nile...
I recomend you to listen to Zyklon, extreme blackenned-death metal with hints of industrial, and the first 2 Pitchshifter albums, industrial death metal at its best
By the way Anual Nathrakth is incredible, try listen to them live
God, pitchshifter, there's a name I've not heard in a long fucking time. For when godflesh get too bleak...
Definitely would recommend Volenti Non Fit Injuria by the same band !
Hah! Your reaction was reminiscent of the first time I heard them too.. "WhaT thE FUCK WAS THAT?" "I kinda digged it a lot"... then the more you get into their discography you love them more and more. They have some AMAZING songs.. This one isn't among their best ones, but yeah...

React to their Endarkenment
pure art of chaos
Please also try "Extravaganza"! As a Cattle Decap fan I think you'll love it \m/
Haha, this reaction was gold! check out VOLA or Circle of Contempt pretty please :)
There's a video for this song. The harsh vocals are like Schizophrenia.
Since you are already on the path of no return, do a reaction of "Kunstzone - Odio Ergo Spiro"
In russian "trakh" means "fuck"
You can guess how funny this band's name for russians
hey react to Plini - Papermoon :D please!
Next, Bolt Thrower - World Eater, please!
Opeth - The Moor
Hello Ruben, Please react to Nightwish - Dark Chest of Wonders(Live Wacken 2013). Cheers !
Opeth - Burden
You should do more old school bands like Death and Carcass, too much modern crap!
Jessica Jones and Metallica 😂
Not even Metal let alone extreme
More black metal !
BEHEMOTH - Ora Pro Nobis Lucifer
Gorgoroth
Great video as usual. Keep them coming. I hope this song isn't considered one of there better songs. I'll give them a chance. I'll listen to more of there music. But this song....... just on the boarder of just ok. That chorus was lame. It killed the momentum of the song, I thought.
Check out "Between Piss and Shit we are born". Much better flow and the chorus feels better integrated.
More deathcore than black metal, very sad to hear this band sell out like this, why does every song have a melodic chorus now??
lmfao
Th- what are you on, do you even listen to deathcore. They dont even sound like death core, well the guy who does all the instruments does mixing and mastering for deathcore bands (for example carnifex) and if this band was more "deathcore" i would welcome it, its a lot better then the death core you get now a days which is mainly all bland and sound the same. It's like a britney concert. If everyone present had pcp injected into their eyes and two malevolent brummies took charge to vent their rage unrelentingly
They've been doing melodic choruses since their second or third album.
