    If I didn’t know anything about this car, and somebody told me that it’s 5-7 years old…i would believe them.
    I didn’t even know what adaptive cruise control was until 2016, and this car had it back in 2008. Full digital instrument cluster is also very recent for most car brands.
    This car was so ahead of it’s time!

    Every time I see these well-designed, safe, quality vehicles from Japan I get angry at Transport Canada which blocks imports for no valid reason.

      at least it is ONLY 15 years, the US has to wait for 25 years to get decent old cars

    Video Idea: a collection of shots of various street encounters Derek has had over the years: school children playing loudly, ice cream trucks, bird visitations, dudes on bikes and so forth.

    They do make GWS204 with red tail ights - series 1 have the clear tail lights and the series 2 have red tail lights. But it is common to have people switch them for personal preference!

    Best Crown ever made. A special top tier halo trim level with all the bells and whistles to showcase a new powertrain. The only other Crown I can think of that did just that is the UZS131.

      @jesuscrust13 Рік тому +1

      There was the 2018-2022 Crown 3.5 Multi-Stage Hybrid, which was the only Toyota to have what was otherwise a Lexus-exclusive powertrain. I hope it's coming back with the new Crown Sedan but I have my doubts; they're probably going to focus on the FCEV and probably do something with the T24A engine for the hybrid version.

      @@jesuscrust13 The 2.4 turbo hybrid puts out similar numbers to the old V6 hybrid so I guess that's the closest we're gonna get. Fingers crossed for a V6 turbo hybrid.

    • @jesuscrust13
      @jesuscrust13 Рік тому

      @@cra_55 yeah, but this is the current transverse engine iteration of the 2.4 turbo hybrid used in the Crown crossovers, correct? The Crown Sedan model will continue to have a longitudinal engine so it'll be interesting to see what they do. This existing system makes about 10-15 hp less than the V6 hybrid in the previous generation Crown

    • @cra_55

      @@jesuscrust13 The 2.4T can be used longitudinally as well. It's gonna be used in the new Tacoma.

    I get around 7 litres per 100 km or 33 mpg which is impressive for a big heavy and quick car.

    Also side note, I was a bit of an odd child I always liked Camrys, they aren't luxury cars but I always thought they had a nice big body and restrained elegance to them. Learning about how many "Camry-like" and "Camry-sized" RWD luxury and sports sedans like the JZX line, Crowns and so on on the JDM side is really fun, not many car companies have so many varieties of midsized sedans, Toyota is kind of unique in having so many models and derivatives. Similar but different from one another, a fun thing to research and dive into for Toyota nerds. Also feels like "forbidden fruit" Camrys. I am attracted to them for the Camry-like looks and sized bodies, but the upscale features and powertrains make them feel special, as well as the fact they were restricted to Americans for so long.

    You can convert almost any headlights from rhd to lhd, in this case the car has projector headlights, which are the easiest to do.

    I know the 2008 Highlander Hybrid (was there ever a Kluger Hybrid?) with the 3.3 made a combined ~290hp while the 2009-15(? before they decided the 4 cylinder hybrid was a good idea) with the 3.5 made 305-315hp.

    The XV10 Camry, 1992-1996, badged the "Scepter" in japan is quite Lexus like, it looks LS400ish in its styling, it's build quality and interior materials was Lexus-grade. It was known for its overengineering
