Official Description's:
Qmx Combadge- Star Trek: Voyager fans: Now your cosplay can be perfect! Just add this gleaming, screen-accurate metal badge with its unique magnetic clasp to your uniform, and you're set.
Our Voyager communicator badge (also seen in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) was crafted using one of the only remaining sets of original molds, which were painstakingly restored in our artisan model shop. With the restored molds we were able to replicate the prop's size and shape exactly.
To get the colors and paint details, we studied an actual screen-used badge. And once we had the design of the original matched, we took the whole thing a step further - rendering the replica in gold and silver-finished metal (the on-screen props were made of painted resin).
What sets this wearable badge apart from the original is the clasp, which uses strong, short-field magnets that are embedded in the badge itself and in a glossy backplate. No more pinholes in delicate fabric. It can even be worn on leather and suede.
Stay tight with your crew and starship with the QMx Star Trek: Voyager Communicator Badge.
Dimensions
1.88 in high x 1.75 in wide
4.76 cm high x 4.5 cm wide
Materials
Zinc alloy, neodymium magnets.
Roddenberry.com- In Starfleet, the combadge replaced standalone communicators in the early 24th century. This Combadge design was made popular in later seasons of DS9 and Star Trek: Voyager. Reproduced from screen-filmed props, this item represents the actual pieces that were worn on the shows. Constructed of resin and hand-painted, this prop features a double Velcro backing for application to your favorite Starfleet uniform.
-1:1 Scale Replica
-Double-Sided Velcro Back
-Hand Painted
I wonder if a future badge is made, would it include that beeping sound effect every time it is pressed? That would be an amazing tech build!
Mobile Emitter!!!!! My fav! Please state the nature of the medical emergency.
Very nice inboxing, I'm in the process of piecing together a st. voy. cosplay pice and this helped so much. As I am just starting out on this I love to have alternatives in my prop pices.
+vaderdude83 Sorry I missed this comment hows the cosplay coming? I know the feeling of having nice alternatives, the Roddenberry has the accuracy I love and after putting on the magnet makes it all the better since you don't have to sew a velcro patch onto shirts or expensive costumes. But damn if the finish on the Qmx one isn't beautiful.
My favourite commbadge is the QMx shiny finish. In the real world, without the TV set lights, it shows itself off really well.
The thing about items like the combadge is there's screen accurate and in universe accurate. The screen used badges couldn't be metal because of studio lighting and cameras etc. In universe the badges are supposed to be metal and would look more like the QMX badge.
Eh, just because they were going to do something some way, it doesn't mean that's what it's like in universe.
@@logancap076 yes it is because dialog has stated that they're made of metal.
@@nickryan4126 Made of metal does not make them automatically have a chrome finish. Take fansets badge for example, they're metal but they have a similar finish to how they look in the show.
@@logancap076 why wouldn't they? The only reason they didn't on the show was the studio lights? Why in universe would they want them to look dull and crappy? Clearly Starfleet is filled with fashion divas considering how often the uniforms change. There's no real world logic to it.
@@nickryan4126 First off, I think a lot of people would argue that the chromed finish feels a lot more cheap than the more satin finish of the badges they used. Whether you like it or not, what is seen in the show is how it is in universe. If you can't accept that, go watch discovery.
I use to have the qvc badge that had the cherp magnetic. Like this one .
Another way you could do something like this, is if you make a silicone mold of the QMX badge, and then make a resin casting and paint it. Then do the exact same magnet process as you did with the Roddenberry one. That's what I did be because I'm trying to get better at mold making, and it turned out really well. It is a bit more expensive, but you get the added experience.
Loved the video! Both Combadges are wonderful, but I wonder if you've seen the magnetic metal replica with the round pillbox shaped housing attached that makes the chirp sound? I used to have one but tragic things happened :/ I don't know who makes it but I'd love another one
Glad you liked the video! As a kid I used to have the Next Gen Combadge from Playmates that had the magnetic soundboard that made the chirp and spoke a few phrases
im going out to hastings to buy a qmx star trek combadge.i use to have a roddenberry combadge
+william 04467 Nice, both combadges are beautiful and I'm happy to have both.
well i will be happy to go get a qmx combadge
yep...I did the same, got both qmx ones and both Roddenberry ones, I also have 3 into darkness ones and the renegades version....I'm a little obsessed with commbadges......
+LENTO VIOLENTO Comm Badges and Tricorders. Can't wait for the Anovos Tricorder.
+Sebastian Joao
there's something magical about them, for me when I was ten I was mesmerized by them, what they could do, iv always wanted to replicate that into my adult life....I'm going to have to google that one....cheers fella....LLAP
Anovos had a whole line of Star Trek replicas at San Diego Comic Con last year, Phasers, Phaser Rifles and Tricorders. They looked great and had awesome little details like removable power cells on the show.
I have a badge from vegas with pins like you showed in the video but its the 2360s badge and it still looks pretty good
+SmallYoda3 My badge from the Experience still looks good as well. Speaks to the quality of the badges they were selling.
Take the Qmx paint it silver/ gold....bingo, canon!
The link to the roddenberry one no longer exists. Is there any other way I can get ahold of the screen accurate combadge?
Doesn’t even look like they have a shop anymore which is a shame. Officially, looks like it’s just the QMX. All I can think of would be trying to find a custom or if you’re up to the task altering the QMX one with a metallic paint job.
@@Sebastianjoao Dam 😔😔 I wonder why they took out the store
So I just got the screen accurate badge from xscapes props, how did you remove the velcro? I'm kind of scared to be rough with it because I don't want to scratch the paint job lol.
The Velcro on mine peeled off really easy. I just took my time but I can’t speak to the ease of yours. I’d just make a gentle attempt and if it doesn’t seem to want to come off I’d probably not try and push my luck.
@@Sebastianjoao thanks!
Is the Roddenberry badge made of plastic and how did the Velcro stick onto the badge?????
The badge feels like it's cast in resin. The velcro was attached with a tacky adhesive that required little effort to remove. It wasn't stuck on with something like super glue.
Thanks, I just ordered 2 of them🤗
I have the QMX brand and I it is very nice and I like it very much. I also have the Next Generation badge from the late 1980's when they were made and licensed by Paramount.
Was it the playmates next gen comm badge that had the sound box that went under clothes that said a few phrases I had one of those and wore it everywhere.
Sebastian Joao No, this one was just the tack pin just like your other Voyager pin with no sound and it is just as nice as those today. I bought it off of QVC when they were doing Star Trek collectibles around 1988.
Does the Qmx's combadge magnet make the combadge itself possible to spin?
+Cyrus jr. There is a bit of a ridged pattern on the back of the Qmx badge for some resistance on a uniform but you can spin the badge on the magnet.
Sebastian Joao Damn, because my main concern is that the combadge somehow moves during the day. Do you know something that can help?
On the show the Badges were velcroed on. The magnet on this feels strong enough and the badge balanced enough to keep from moving too much. The only thing I can think of would be to add something to the back of the badge to increase resistance against the uniform to avoid it from moving off angle.
The place i ordered my voyager badge from sent me a next gen version instead i was dissapointed but they did reply and gave me a refund. They are very nice i wish i had my badge.
Awesome unboxing and review of both the QMX & Roddenberry 2370s com badge. Are you going to plan on doing an unboxing and review of both the QMX & Roddenberry 2360s com badge?
+Jed Raybould Thank you very much! I'm thinking about it, I still have a bunch of the magnets to alter it if I do.
+Sebastian Joao You're Welcome! I have both the 2360s and 2370s QMX com badges. They both are awesome. Now just need an ANOVOS TNG Command Uniform and early DS9/ Voyager Command Uniform along with a First Contact/later DS9 Command Uniform for the QMX com badges. Is there an unboxing video on here on the ANOVOS TNG Command Uniform?
Jed Raybould This guy has a good walkthrough of the TNG uniform. I know the day I get one of the Anovos First Contact uniforms I will be making a video of it.ua-cam.com/video/cYSaCVJMOkY/v-deo.html
+Sebastian Joao I saw the video on the TNG Command Uniform top and it is cool. I'd use a straightened out metal coat hanger to zip and unzip it. It would have been nice of ANOVOS to have an inside pouch for the QMX comm badges for the inside plate. What is your thought on QMX coming up with a soundboard for each comm badge?
+Jed Raybould if it's thin I'll be pretty psyched, even if it just makes the chirps. I would probably tap it all day just like the old Playmates combadges that had the huge sound box that said a couple phrases like "One to beam up.".
I GOT THE BLUETOOTH ONE. AND MINE ACTUALLY WORKS. PAIRED WITH MY PHONE WITH GOOGLE ASSISTANT I HAVE FOUND MANY PRACTICAL USES. IT SO COOL TO TAP IT AND HAVE IT DO SOMETHING REAL WORLD, NOT ROLEPLAYING THEN TAP IT AGAIN JUST LIKE THE ONES ON TV. EXCEPT MINE IS BETTER THAN THE ONES ON TV. MINE IS REAL!
does anyone else experience small chest pains from their qmx badge, on the area of their chest they place it on? everytime i wear mine for about 5 mins, i get this small pain on my chest that last 30 mins.
thebuckrogers22 That sounds spooky. I’ve never experienced that.
My favourite piece of technology is the replicator. I mean replicate literally anything you get think of (excluding plot required exceptions like dilithium). The amount of silk fabric, furniture, and jewelry I’d replicate...
Damn! The video didn't help me at all. I like both of them equally! Guess I will have to get both :-)
I have the 1996 TNG one that my mum bought me when I was a child. It was the playmates version with the soundbox but I've since lost the soundbox. The quality of it wasn't so good as within a year the edges of the badge wore off. It would be great if you could do a video of you wearing both bages on the late DS9 uniform for better comparison. But I am sure you wouldn't want to put a velcro patch on the uniform.
I always wonder how they managed to pull it on and off their uniforms so easily if it was velcro that they were using. It certainly looks like they were using magnets. Also, I wonder how many they broke during the many scenes when they were taken off and thrown onto the table.

I thought it would help me too and I made it, LOL. I like the Roddenberry one for accuracy and the QMX one for that chromed finish. I to had the Playmates one it the soundbox. The Tricorder and the Combadge are the two pieces of Trek tech that I have been enamored with since I was a kid and at this point if I find a Combadge that really catches my eye in terms of quality I try to buy it.
All three of the links are no good now...
I have the IPI Toys one. It chirps.
I love all the chirping ones I had the old Playmates one myself. I recently saw a Next Gen Combadge that doubled as a Bluetooth speaker and mic for your phone, fingers crossed they do the same for the 2370's one.
This is what I was referring to. This is the one I have: starland.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21_57&products_id=207
Nice
i will buy a qmx combadge and a roddenberry.com combadge
Another way you could do something like this, is if you make a silicone mold of the QMX badge, and then make a resin casting and paint it. Then do the exact same magnet process as you did with the Roddenberry one. That's what I did be because I'm trying to get better at mold making, and it turned out really well. It is a bit more expensive, but you get the added experience.
Definitely going to look into this as it's something I've always wanted to try.
