They wrote the opening and ending of the Anime Tower of God: "Top" and "Slump" (there are 3 versions, Japanese, Korean and English). So glad to see more older Stray Kids fans! I'm in my 30's and have been a fan of niche Japanese Symphonic metal bands since I was a young teen but Stray Kids really roped me in. I only listened to Kpop sparsely here and there because I like Japanese anime and music so UA-cam would suggest one BTS or Exo song to me once in a while (and older bands back in the day) but that's about it. Stray Kids really are something different. I listened to one song and got hooked.

    I recommend checking out:
    Lalalala (latest title track)
    Gods Menu
    Megaverse (bside from latest comeback)
    Thunderous
    Maniac
They are a 8 member group aged 23-26, completely self produced and write all of their songs (specifically 3racha which consists of 2 of the main rappers and the leader). Leader and deep voice guy are australian. The leader chose all of the members himself, which is very rare in kpop. Their music videos are always insane, with high budgets lead by a great director (many pros call their mvs the best in kpop)

    About Stray Kids:
3Racha - Stray Kids' main writing and production unit, consisting of Bang Chan (the leader of Stray Kids), Changbin and Han (two of their main rappers)
Bang Chan was an idol trainee at JYP for several years. While waiting to debut with a group, he formed a rap group called 3Racha with two other trainees, Changbin and Han. They wrote and produced their own music. JYP gave Bang Chan the highly unusual opportunity to help develop his own idol group (which they did through a reality show, but Bang Chan had WAYYYY more say in picking the members than pretty much any other idol trainee in the industry), and when Stray Kids was formed 3Racha was absorbed into that group.
3Racha still performs on occasion. Several of their songs / videos are posted on UA-cam. They write and produce (and often compose/arrange) the vast majority of the music for Stray Kids. But over the years the other members have also gotten involved in writing and production.
    ----------------------------------
Stray Kids debuted in 2018. They started with 9 members (in their early videos, you'll see 9 people performing) but Woojin left in Oct 2019. Stray Kids have been an 8-member group ever since.
    ----------------------------------
DanceRacha - their main dance unit (Hyunjin, Felix (the deep-voiced guy), and Lee Know). But all 8 members dance very well.
    ----------------------------------
VocalRacha - their main vocal unit (Seungmin and I.N). But again, all 8 members have great singing voices and they switch around on lead vocals, depending on the song.
    ----------------------------------
Main rappers - Changbin, Han, Hyunjin and Felix - however unlike many K-pop groups, all 8 members can and have rapped, depending on the song.
    ----------------------------------
    Languages:
Bang Chan (the leader of the group) and Felix (deep-voiced guy) are both Korean-Australian, so English is their first language. The other 6 members speak English with varying degrees of fluency.
All 8 members are fluent in both Korean and Japanese. The group can sing and rap in all three languages.
    ----------------------------------
Not all of their music is super hard all the time.
Stray Kids also write / sing beautiful ballads and have also written a few songs for K-drama, anime and video game soundtracks. They also collab with / produce for other idol groups and individual artists from Korea, Japan, China, Thailand and the U.S.

2:41 YES! finally someone who gets it. Stray Kids love to experiment and take risks without caring about what’s actually trendy at the moment. they make their music themselves and make it for their fans to have fun and enjoy. they are definitely special and one of a kind! that’s why they have such a huge fanbase, they connect with their fans with how genuine they are. they LOVE making music and performing and do it with pure passion.

So, overall S-class is both a special song to me, and not even breaking my top ten Stray Kids songs. 5-star was the first album they released after I considered myself a fan, but they have over 150 songs in their immense discography.
Some details - they are an 8 (formerly 9) member group under JYP entertainment. All the members were selected by their leader, Bangchan and participated on a survival show (called Stray Kids) to see who was ready to debut (spoiler alert- all 9 make it in the end).
What sets these guys apart is that not only were the members selected by Bangchan (this doesn’t happen in kpop), but they are almost entirely self-written and self produced since day 1. I think the only songs that none of the members wrote or composed were from OSTs. They don’t have specific roles as all the members can sing, dance and rap and even write the music - as all members have a range of copyright credits (though the gap from least to most is huge I think the lowest has 12 and the highest hit 183 song credits).
I think Maniac and Lalalala are good next videos. My journey started with Maniac and Freeze, then went to Thunderous, God’s Menu, Case 143, Back door and then Hellevator.

Thank you for reacting to Stray Kids, one of the few Kpop groups that produces 99% of their music. Amazing singers, rappers, dancers, lyricists, producers, with great stage presence and charismatic personalities. This is an extremely talented group with over 180 songs to their credit. All of their songs are great for different reasons, so you can pick anything and you won’t be disappointed. Their MVs have gotten better and better and they are now some of the best in the industry. They love to experiment with their music and you can always find some hidden gems in their production, even their B sides are great giving everything they have for each album. I recommend Megaverse next.

A little more info about Stray Kids:
They are a multi-award winning and record-setting (as far as pre-release / post-release album sales) group who perform in countries around the world in completely filled stadiums that hold upwards of 50K / 60K people, as well as performing incredible, bring-down-the-roof performances at various awards shows.
They have been featured in Rolling Stone magazine, Billboard magazine and Time magazine, among many, many others. One example: in 2020, Time Magazine said they had one of the top 10 songs of the entire year. They were the only K-pop group on the list.
They have won rookie / male group / album / dance performance / single song / global artist and producer awards at the MTV VMAs, the Billboard Music Awards, MTV Europe Music Awards, the People's Choice Awards, the IHeartRadio Awards and many, many awards shows throughout Asia.
They received a special award from the Prime Minister of South Korea.
They consistently are among the top groups to be played on Spotify and other streaming music platforms.
Their songs have been on Billboard's Hot 100 and Global 200 charts, and four (4) of their albums have been no. 1 on Billboard's top 200 album chart.
.......just to give you an idea.
In other words, Stray Kids are quite talented and very popular the world over.

What do you do with yourself? Listen to more stray kids. That's what you do with yourself. Stray kids is known for the transitions in MV's and hitting a lot of different genres in 1 song. That's mostly their title songs though and some of their b-sides. They have a lot of different styles, slower paced or only hiphop or rocky songs aswell. They've released an insane amount of albums over the past 6 years.
Once you've done some of their music, you'll be happy to dive into their personalities, stray kids is ridiculously loud, ridiculously good friends and ridiculously funny.
Oh and I guess s-class is somewhere in my top 50 songs of them. I swear, their songs are so good.

Omg omg omg EVERYBODY STAY CALM! I used to love watching your reactions to Naruto and to see that you've found what has quickly become my obsession is amazing 😊 S-Class is such a difficult song to be your first introduction into stray kids because it switches up so much!
Stray Kids is very much an experimental group and you will find if you listen to lots more of their music that they hit so many genres because they love to change their style! If you're interested to know as well, they are a self made, self producing group comprising of three sub-units; 3Racha (producing), danceracha(dancing) and vocalracha(main vocalists) although that being said all 8 of them can fill any role needed they're just that good 🤣 the Leader, Bangchan (you commented on his beautiful voice in the second chorus) chose all the members himself and as part of 3Racha writes the lyrics, composes and produces the music along with Han and Changbin!! I highly recommend going through their total tracks first such as Gods menu, Maniac, LaLaLaLa but don't miss out on their b-sides because they're so so good! Megaverse, item, hall of fame, cheese, easy, side effects. There's so good songs! I'm really excited to see your journey through discovering stray kids if you chose to listen to more of them but they are so worth it ❤️

Welcome to Stray Kids, they actually are a genre on their own. From the beginning ( in 2017/18) they struggled to be understood by the Kpop music industry, they kept breaking molds musically. Their music blends in many music genre’s into a single song( an older Stay - the fandom name) once you have the initial songs under your belt try going back to their beginning.
Warning: 😉 their music is addictive ( in a wonderful way) the song are uplifting, even their more serious lyrics will show a strength and vigor.
All that said… all of Kpop has remarkable music and as Chani (aka BangChan- our fearless leader) says and instructs Stays to show respect to the talent and music of other groups! Gotta love a young man who is such a kind and devoted leader and he’s one hell of a beat writer !

Because Stray Kids are not the usual Kpop group and since they write and produce their music, each album is a story of their journey. I recommend starting at the beginning and with each album you can hear the growth in their music. I also recommend watching their Survival Reality show called Stray Kids, The Kpop industry on the decline in the2010's and JYP decided to try an unconventional way of creating his Kpop group. The leader of Stray Kids Bang Chan (Chris) was a trainee for 7 years, so JYP, instructed him to select the members he wanted to debut with him. He stared with Changbin and Han, who he was already working with known in the Kpop Underground as 3Racha. Then came Lee Know, Hyunjin, Felix, Seungmin and I.N. There was a 9th member but us Stays don't talk about him. They have a lot of content for fans, and you will get to see the strong bond between them and realize that they are just as devoted to each other as they are making music and performing. They are arguably the Kings of the Kpop 4th generation.

2:43 SKZ are the flagship risk takers of KPOP imo.... they love experimenting with their music, considering that they're the ones that produce all of their music. This is what makes their music more real and appealing to me. ❤

Always a pleasure to see people enjoying SKZ, especially for the first time. They are almost too innovative for a lot of people and write for, and produce, themselves. Looking forward to your future reactions.

Dude getting into Stray Kids is WILD. I love S-Class because it feels like they purposefully had a million different styles of music to show off that they ARE “special”(as the line says) and showing how many styles they can do and how WELL THEY DO IT!!!
Also as someone with adhd…s-class hits every spot for me haha. Literally cannot get bored or distracted there’s so many sounds and beat changes it’s like an adhd DREAM!! My toddler also loves it lmfao

You have done both of my favorite boy groups. I love them because they have the rare creative freedom that you don’t see a lot in K-pop but thankfully I think that is slowly changing. Like BTS, the rap line does the majority of the writing, production, concept, etc. stray kids are unique in their sounds that they use to make their songs. Although I am not a big fan of girl groups, Black Pink and XG I’d say are my two favorites. XG are unique in that they are Japanese but since sing in Japanese, Korean and English, although now it is mainly all English for their main songs and MVs. They are CRAZY talented and I think you will really like them. Thanks for giving K-pop a chance and I love watching new people fall in love with their music and talent. 💜

Stray Kids is my favorite kpop band. They are so good and so involved in their own music. They write all of their songs and produce the majority of it themselves.
Some of my favorite Stray Kids tracks are:
Thunderous, God's Menu, Back Door, Venom, Freeze, Case 143, Red Lights
And these are also my faves that I don't see get recommended as much:
Mixtape #4, Mixtape: Oh, Sorry I love You, Taste
The members also release solo tracks here and there. There my absolute favorite is Changbin's "Streetlight".

Lets goooo man Stray Kids never disappoints you'll love the other songs!
You should first react to the most popular ones so: Maniac, Thunderous, Megaverse, God's Menu, Red Lights and Backdoor.
Btw there's a live version of S Class with a band (the bass is filthy in this one🔥), since you're into metal there's a good chance you'll particularly enjoy it!

  • @jadefrog

Strays Kids is member produced--members (mostly the three member production team, 3Racha) write and are deeply involved in production of almost all the non-cover work they release (there are a few solo works that were written by the soloist and entirely produced by outside producers, and some songs have outside co-writers. Because of the complexity of their work, they also bring in multiple collaborating producers to get exactly the sounds they want).
Favorite of the harder hitting songs are Venom, Easy, Topline (that's got some retro style rap and has a gorgeously grimy-basement brass bassline), Domino (no video but check out the dance practice), Freeze, and their debut title, District 9, God's Menu.
Some of their earliest releases are surprisingly great. Their very first release was Hellevator (half of them were 17 or under when they recorded the song and video but it's really good) and it stands up really well. Check out their "busking" performance of Yayaya from the survival show where the group was formed, it has hints of '90s grunge in it, among other things, and the performance video of Beware--Song of Grrr from that same era is really fun. Victory Song is also cool.
Moving into not as hard but super cool, in Back Door they play with some great R&B bass, and Thunderous slips some traditional Korean storytelling gestures and rhythms into modern rap, throws in car horns, alarms, traditional instruments and pretty much the kitchen sink, and the video is crazy good. Circus is one of their Japanese language releases, and it's a great video, great song, try and tell where they used the elephant calls on the track (two different pitches of elephants, no less).

Sure, other kpop groups have experimental songs and switch up their styles, but Stray Kids has found their own unique style of music that surprises me every time. They debuted in 2018
    They are ages 23 - 26
    Fandom name is Stay
    #2 Best Selling Artist in U.S 2023
#3 Globally Best Selling Artist 2023
They are unique for several reasons...
First, the leader Bang Chan was allowed by JYP to hand pick all of the members himself. They were not placed together in a traditional way, by the company.
Second all of them are all arounders. They can all sing, rap, dance, produce and write.
Third, they have written and produced about 99% of their music.
Numbers of songs each member has copyrighted according to Korean Music Association (KOMCA) so far...
Bang Chan 181 (#3 in KPop)
    Changbin 152 (#11)
    Han 148 (#12)
    Hyunjin 25
    Felix 22
    I.N 21
    Seungmin 20
    Lee Know 17
While they can all do everything they do have 3 different subunits...
3Racha... Bang Chan, Chang Bin and Han which are the main producers. They are always credited as 3Racha.
    3Racha Achievements
    - Four Time Billboard 200 #1 Producers
    - Hot 100 Hitmakers
    - 3rd, 11th, 12th Most Credited Idols on KOMCA
    - Produced Albums Sold Over 20 Million Copies
    - Japan Hot 100 Hitmakers
    - 100+ Weeks on Hot 100 Lyricists
    - 100+ Weeks On Hot 100 Composers
    - 2023 Asia Artist Awards Best Creator
    - Makers of Time Magazines 2020 #8 Best Song (their song Backdoor)
Danceracha... Lee Know (in charge of leading dance practices), Felix and Hyunjin. They also contribute to the choreography.
    Vocalracha... Seungmin and I.N
While the songs are hype they always have significant meaning to them. Their lyricism is always insane.
Since they are so experimental their sound has its own genre and they have a very diverse discography.
Example... Gods Menu, Back Door and Case 143 all completely different sounds.

Welcome to Stray Kids! They honestly have their own sound and love to play with sounds and genres of music and this song is a perfect example of that. Three members leader Bang Chan and the two main rappers Changbin and Han make up the producing team for the group. While all members occasionally help to write and produce their music 99.99% of it is done by these three who produce under the name 3racha. All 8 members are incredibly talented and versatile. I love that you picked up on Felix's low voice when this is a lessee example of what we hear more often. As a metal head myself I highly recommend God's Menu, Venom, Maniac, Topline and LA LA LA LA to start. I can't wait to see what you think so I subscribed! Enjoy!
Also Chan and Felix are Aussie 😊
