My wife and I used to sit on the deck with a glass of wine and watch them surface at dusk in the forest behind our home. She passed in January after fighting Cancer for almost 2 years. I used to call her Firefly because she truly was the Light of My Life. A few nights ago, and this lasted for 4 days, a firefly got into the house, flew up to the den from the first floor, and stayed there for the entire night. Most people call it coincidence, I call it comforting.

I remember when I was a child. I live in a small village, sometimes the electricity went off for 2 or 3 hours. When that happened, me and my family used to go outside, having a good time together, there were fireflies, the sound of crickets, laughter, and joy. Those are beautiful times ☺

I remember being a teenager in Czech Republic, watching those beautiful moving lights when I passed by a forest. It was before I was diagnosed with schizophrenia and even though I now tend to forget who I am and what I lived, I still remember how beautiful this moment was. Now I'll go cry again lol. Take care people.

When I was a kid, I remember that I saw them a couple of times when we had a holiday up in the mountain. Last year I saw them again for the first time in decades. It was truly magical that I vowed to do a pilgrimage to that woods annually. There’re only a couple of places in my country where I could see them in the summer. This year I saw only a couple of them in mid July. Hopefully they don’t go extinct anytime soon.

I was born in a small town. I remember in my childhood catching fireflies and wondering where do they fit there batteries. 😄 Those days where very peaceful any joyful. Now living in a big City where even stars are not visible properly. After so many years today I saw a Firefly sitting on my balcony. It brings me back my old memories.

When I was a kid, my great grandma and I would sit by the window and watch fireflies covering nearby trees that they look like living Christmas Trees. Most magical scene that cannot and has never been replicated wherever I go. Sadly, modernization started when I was in 4th grade and my Christmas trees disappeared with it. It was the saddest moment of my life and I felt that something inside died as well since then.

I came searching for a video on fireflies, because in the book I'm reading - - Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami - - a chapter ended with this beautiful, sad image of a firefly. Video is as sweet as the live experience of seeing fireflies outside in person. Try no longer mowing the lawn after the 1st firefly of the season appears. Let them have an undisturbed mating environment. Hopefully this will make for many more times the number of fireflies each year though the 1st increase will be two years for the first bigger population of hatchlings to reach adulthood. Fireflies need time to produce & lay eggs in the ground. Adults only live about 30 days. Perhapps letting the lawn go for 6 weeks is enough time since not all fireflies will become adults at once. Safest approach would be to not resume mowing till fireflies no longer appear on warm nights.

A fantastic childhood memory of as I see a field full of fireflies at night & a few will fly in the tent & fall asleep to the soothing twinkle of a few fireflies!😇😇

I have so many wonderful memories with fire flies/lightening bugs. This song kinda matches it a weird way.
I'm kinda upset I can't share this with alot of people where a live at now.

I remember when I was a kid 18~20 years ago (I'm 26 now) I used to try hunting fireflies in a small swamp near my house. There were plenty of them! Nowadays they seem to have disappeared. Sadly those who were born in 2000+ are never going to see this show. :(
