Hi guys! My name is Jason Leung, I am a 4th Dan in Shotokan Karate, and have been training for over 20 years.
In today’s karate lesson we are learning Kata Heian Yondan. Heian Yondan is one of my favorite Heian Kata to perform and practice.
It has very strong and elegant waza. In this kata we are introduced to Juji Uke (x block) and Empi Uchi (Elbow Strike).

I originally learnt this kata 19 years ago, not as long ago as you but still, I started going back to training and his videos are the only videos I will watch. They are great.

Hi I left shotokan karate in 1993 as a purple belt to go onto others arts , I rejoined shotokan when my grandson logan joined I April and I've been using your videos to help me remember the katas up to purple belt just finished relearning heian yondan , once I relearning heian gowan I will be happy the main thing is I'm really enjoying kata now than when I did back in the 90s maybe I'm just older lol thanks for putting these videos up for us OSS

I’ve watched this video at least 100 times in preparation for my next belt testing with SKA. Thank you so much for the breakdown. One thing I’m trying to master is reversing time at the start of your video. It’s 7:20 PM but after you do the kata a few times it’s only 7:00 pm according to the clock on the wall behind you. I feel if I keep practicing and do the kata as perfectly as you, I can bend time. 😂 Seriously though, thank you for the hard work you put into these videos!

Monday completed black belt candidate test in Moo Duk Kwan, I was “invited” to perform a board break while performing Heian 3, 2nd backfist left hand, without stopping the form! It went very well, thank you again!

It pushed me to do a better side kick, understand timing and also proper hip swerve between stance change.

Love your channel. Techniques are broken down very well! I’m a former practitioner of a version of kempo that borrowed heavily from shotokan. Your content has definitely helped me brush back up!
