And pitcher Saul Hellman, who was near retirement, makes one of the most amazing comebacks in Baseball history! Their explanation? Angels. Just like in 94... coincidence? I think not!

Despite the year of the film's release, I'm pretty sure it was meant to take place in 1993 instead of 1994. Even ignoring the strike that cut the '94 season short and cancelled the playoffs that year (which the filmmakers couldn't have seen coming), the film uses the previous AL West division rather than the realignment instituted beginning in '94. Furthermore, it's more believable (at least relatively speaking) that Mel Clark made a comeback after 3 1/2 seasons on the disabled list instead of 4 1/2. (Speaking of which, why is there no mention of Clark's tragic death the following spring?)

Furthermore, it's more believable (at least relatively speaking) that Mel Clark made a comeback after 3 1/2 seasons on the disabled list instead of 4 1/2. (Speaking of which, why is there no mention of Clark's tragic death the following spring?)
