The only reason I love this show is because it's a good family show, but I mainly loved it cause it was based on real life. How come they married her off on the show if she wasn't married in real life?
I wish life was still like this when I was a kid, my parents didn't raise me right in the city back then in the 70s (now 56) my dad was strict and mom's side spoiled me, had problems in school with bully's, fear problems and not to play violen's fast forward to 2022 I live alone (widowed, wife took her life in 16) in a Moble home with my 20 year old son. I love this show and seen every episode maybe 10 times. Some episodes really make me feel guilty and cry! Mary you were great on the show!!
Loved this episode!!makes me appreciate what I have!!Never take anything for granted!!WhatIdontunderstand is why in the world would they put a mirrorinher room when she is blind!!!
This was such a turning point for Mary on the show. She left the Ingalls household, moved away, got married, etc. We saw less of her on the show. Was a bit sad in that respect but the storyline sure made for some great drama!
Still, though, a lot of the episodes strayed from the book, so what harm would it have been to make hrt blindness temporary...maybe a season, then after she'd adjusted well enough to that, when she'd begin seeing sgain it would be snother year for her to readjust. I'm on Team Arngrim in that I don't think much of MSA, but the girl did deserve a job. She was talented.
@@farrellmcnulty909ichael Landon only resorted to the blind storyline after Melissa Sue did not get along with the actor who played John Jr (Radames Pera). The original plan was for Mary to marry John Jr. A year after Pera got booted from the show, Mary went blind. Blind or sighted, Mary was a secondary character to the main character of Laura and would have received less airtime regardless.
@@shannonjohnson5459 don’t really agree. When the actresses who played Mary and Nellie left, it was the beginning of the end of the show in my opinion. By season 9, the show was almost unrecognizable with the loss of so many original characters and addition of new ones that the audience simply didn’t care about.
Exactly but at the time I’m sure she thought there were a lot of possibilities for her outside of Little House. A lot of actors think that until reality sets in. I also read she just got sick of playing a blind character. I’m sure if she chose to stay, there would have been some storylines for her. In season 7, Adam gets his sight back and becomes a lawyer and asks Mary to help him run his office. That could have provided some good storylines for the both of them going forward.
Too bad she didn't win the Oscar for which she was nominated for "Happy Birthday to Me",.,..,,.,.OH WAIT!!!! Or the Emmy for her Love Boat appearance(s)😍🤩
It broke my heart when Mary went blind. I learned so many life lessons from little house.
The real life Mary Ingalls never married. I liked that they had her married and teaching blind children. Great clip! Thanks!
True;. She stayed at home and helped them take care of the household.

So she could break something when she had a tantrum...dramatic license.
Omg finally someone comments on Mary beinf a complete brat
Really, what was the point in wearing eye makeup if she was blind???
@@shannonjohnson5459 Mary was pretty snippy sometimes, almost had Nellie beat.
She's still gorgeous!

Plus the show got sooooo much more better without her annoying character in it

I didn’t like it when Nellie left:( that was a bummer. But Mary became sooo useless tbh
Great video
Thank you for posting
It was still a good paying acting gig, the one she's best known for. So leaving didn't work out that well for her.
