Leroy's theme wasn't kidding when it dubbed him "The Attitude Adjuster". Everyone went from loving him to loathing him in no time.
His gameplay looks so boring. Thought that before I knew he was top tier. His trailer and design looks good tho.

Leroy hype literally fell off a cliff. I felt this huge anticipation for the character from the community and then after launch everyone just hates him.
I never really cared that much to play him despite thinking his design looked cool. But man... This character became my most hated matchup very quickly.

He is perfectly balanced.... in mirror matches.
Leroy has been beaten and dominated a lot in none mirror match. For example jdcr and Kkokoma got dominated by gura's lili in a combine score of 6-0. Lili is not even a top tier character. Knee also lost using Leroy. Akuma and geese still dominate the Pakistani scene.
P2 Leroy is at a big advantage actually.

Imo developers messed up. There was alot of hype for leroy, but they should not forget that some of us still mains our beloved weakling characters. Too much does more harm than good, people actually went from hyping the character to complete oposite hating it badly.
They didn't mess up, it's all intentional and they will nerf him eventually.
Just remember, Feng had a 8f B+1 in Tekken5, so there's been worse.

Claudio's running 2, one of the best approach tools in the game.. Before Leroy
- Generally gets higher frames, but doesnt go over +6 either.
- Deals 40 dmg and doesnt lead to a full or mini combo.
- Is not homing
- Comes out of a f,f,f not the easier f,f
- Claudio doesnt have save launchers like orbital to deter the enemy from ducking.
- While running takes more frames to start and is easier to mess up
- Somehow wr2 actually has less range
- Claudio doesnt have a hellsweep mixup to play with plusframes game with
- the approach mixup is wr2(40), ff4(20) or f3(homing CH launcher) for approach. None of these are normal launchers. Leroy's ff3 covers two of Claudios move for less risk and more reward as it is a homing, safe, plus frame, normal launcher.
(edit) Claudio's approach was considered strong. Dont buff Claudio, nerf Leroy. How many in the cast can get 85 dmg with no wall, no execution, no rage, from a safe homing move?

Well tournament results so far show that him being broken is exaggerated. Last night at Pakistan tournament, I even saw a Lars player dominating a Leroy player. He needs frame adjustments. But he is not broken.

It doesnt recover so fast that u cant punish on wiff...when they do it, or if you can read it, just crouch and do a WS launcher..i just crouch and WR2 with dragonuv...hits every time...its is punishable for every character except steve...imagine facing leroy with steve..matches wont even be close:.leroy can counter every single move that steve throws...but lets admit, leroy is unfair and anybody that uses Leroy is basically a troll...harada really messes up with this guy.

James Bond The reason you can do that is because this move has 18 frames of start up at least and can be up to 23 frames. Leroy has a move that is only 14 frames on start up and leads to 87 damage. If you are a certain distance away from the wall. You can KO if the opponent wake up attacks with anything but a low and you power crush due to an easy wall bounce combo.
I remember ff3 made me laugh out loud on day one labs with it being a plus and homing move but damn wayy more broken than initially thought. Fun character but devs went way too hard on frames and damage
on frames i guess hes ok bcz the style he uses, its all about speed and parrying. only way to nerf ff3 is remove homing and make it unsafe on block. and they can reduce the punish damage for 1+2, 1+2, 1 . it does 56 damage . they can nerf it to 30, 35 or 40 max.
Definitely think that move should at least be unsafe on block even if they kept the homing. down 1+2 also needs to be unsafe on block so you cant just throw it out all day. A couple all around damage nerfs espcially on the one inch punch and i think hes in a better place

F A i agree i was saying i was amazed that if they were gonna give dude a crazy ranged homing move like that they didnt at least make it a little unsafe on block... on top of all his tools? Was waiting for a better/more convenient parry character than Jin for those cool parries, but they made Leeroy too OP, he's gonna be nerfed so hard he's gonna be like top 40 viable tournament character. I like niche characters for their uniqueness and not just a contest of who has better frames, even that Devil Jin loyalist quitted cause all Devil Jin ever was was the frames & properties.
Easy fix, just make the starter super minus on whiff and block. Ya know... Like a classic tekken character...
They would probably change it to a mid if it's super minus on block. Hopefully they can at least make it -14 if they don't change it to a mid and be -16.

I was one of the people who would tell people to learn the match up. Let me apologize after fighting many of them I realized I was wrong. Love Leroy design but fighting him made despise him.

Leroy is so busted dude. He can parry hopkicks, rage arts, and rage drives. He’s unga bunga af for tons of damage and no effort. And then when you start winning against this man, people throw out a random parry and destroy ur lifebar 😐
People even fucking pointed out that despite not knowing much about him he's already extraordinary good compared to the others. Now the toolboxes are discovered here one by one and this character is growing in strength every minute. He needs to be addressed asap

As for Bears you can do Uf3+4 without continuing it with 1+2 then you can get a d1 to float then you do dash df1 into anything you want

I do have a hard time with my Feng main fighting Leroy. But I think Feng has good tools to deal with Leroy. My execution and reaction is kinda trash though. So, Leroy players get away with more than they should on me...

André Ferreira We've already found better combos than this. That launcher is 18-21 frames. That's not very good. Leroy can do 87 damage with a 14 frame starter. I'll give you all a hint and tell you to use Chasing Arrow more.

Before knowing this luancher, the character is so broken without any doubt. Now, with 85 dmg no wall, no excution, homing +6 loong range move, it's just tooo much.

ammar alnasser Well MainMan hasn't discovered the actual good string yet. Leroy can get 87 damage off of a 14 frame starter. Launchers in this game are 15 and 16 frames. So you can punish with this almost every time assuming you don't drop the input. Very few things other than jabs are faster than 14 frames and it is not bad on block.
I think the Pros and High level players are looking at Leroy from a far too technical perspective. They are overlooking Leroy's actual strongest tools because of it. A lot of people seem to think that one of Leroy's low kicks which leaves him at -3 ON HIT is an actual good move when it's not. You will lose the trade every time with that move. It's only good for a last ditch effort. I'm just hoping more people start figuring him out sooner than it took them to figure out Akuma.

Just actually fought a Leroy a few mins ago and gotta say I cant stress enough of how im sick of fighting against him, as out of 10 players they are mostly Leroy mains.

To put Leroy's 120 damage into another context: Paul can do CH qcb+4;qcf+1;qcf+1;df+1~b+4;S!;ff+4;WS+3,2;W!;3,2;d+1+2 for 114 damage. qcb+4 is also a high, homing move just like Leroy's ff+3. Differences being Leroy's ff+3 gets the float combo on natural hit, +6 on block, and has vastly more range. Not to mention the aforementioned Paul combo is much, much more difficult.

helpful note: despite it being homing, it can be sidestepped/sidewalked right with the correct timing. hard as hell to whiff punish, and you do take this launcher if you fuck it up. worth knowing, though. anything to make it a little less broken.
Does Leroy have any big weaknesses at all? From both playing as him and fighting against him, it seriously feels like he can just do whatever he wants to at any given time for results.
Actually there is one, since most of his moves are a kind of string, you can time your power crush moves with it, it will raise your probability of winning by a bit lol.
He has no hopkick and he would have to serve longer time in jail as any white character, if he ever would get convicted for a crime.

5:31 Actually, Miguel has a power crush launcher (from savage) and it's max damage combo is 82 damage with no walls. It's about as difficult as this combo, and altough it's locked behind a stance ans has bad-ish range, it's not only a power crush, but is also safe on block. So I'd say altough not as strong, I would say considering he's a balanced character, this does come close is turns of power.
During savage 1+2*, DASH, DB2, DF1F*, UF3, 34, FF21.
To put into perspective aswell, with akuma if you do a reasonable comparison, lets say doing neutral 2 red fireball fadc b1 dflip 3 dflip 3 1+2 ff 1 dash 1 dash fF2,1 you get 86 damage, so even doing a combo that is alot harder you only get 1 extra damage, but you also spend 1 bar doing that

@@Gorecatto True, but I think it stands that dmg shouldn't go unchecked across all characters. Which a major problem among S3 changes is that now dmg is so high across the board.
So much has been added and changed, but somethings hasn't been compensated for.
No doubt, Leroy is definitely busted, but I think Chloe is no exception either even if shes tame in comparisons.
Neutral is a big part of high level gameplay in Tekken. If you leave things in the game like Leory and Chole's low execution high dmg combos, or other things like Paul's nearly 25% deathfist it practically destorys the concept of the game. Having a consistent game design philosophy across the board is important for having fun and balanced fighting games.

For Namco to patch and nerf characters is like the US Army changing their training it takes them 20 years to get hint that they need change ! I mean Tekken 7 has been the very first Tekken in history to actually change and nerf characters with patches and updates. It only took them a little over a year to patch, nerf characters and update the game itself !
it took Namco nearly +10 years to finally balance Bob after he was OP from T6 to TTT2.
So hopefully this time they balance Leroy in less time

This is what I ment when I commented in your "how do we need Leroy" video. Keep the plus 1 on block from all ranges or hell, make it neutral from everywhere except where it was plus 6. Theres no real reason it needs to be that powerful with only a ff input for execution. I like how strong he is but this is a freakin problem

this has been common knowledge since day -1. secret discord tech. he gets even better. alot of us that were working on the wip spreadsheet started noticing how overtuned his frame data was. about half of us switched to gan, it felt more honest.
How and why is his damage so high?
because people were hyped about his character design so the balancing team didnt want him to be weak. Only problem is the balancing team is sub 80 iq so we ended up with a completely busted character

Murray was smoking his own Ass hair before he gave Leroy a long range + 1-6 homing high
Easy solution is reduce the size of the vertical hitbox on the second hit of d/f+3,1. It’s basically the issue they created when they changed Law’s 3+4 and you could get a full combo off a Dragon Tail but in reverse (hitbox needs to be made smaller to be balanced).

ff3 is the main issue the move is ridiculous with or without this discovery. make ff3 minus on block like -9 that way its safe but he loses his turn period.
@@mclacex1 Mmm...I'd say just make it steppable to one side if we're in the market of fixing the starting move instead of the first combo hit. Not make it full tracking. If you step to the right you get whacked and this happens but you know to step left and you're cleared (I hope I said that right, I'm never sure if stepping is relative to your position or your opponent's; step to Leroy's back, basically). A move like that needs some linearity (it's Noctis's major balancing tool so why not apply it to other characters too).
If you're going to use it the way MainMan is saying (you're doing it from like range 2 or beyond), that's enough time to make it fairly reactable (it's active at frame 20 and 18 at point blank) so just take away its ability to hit the opponent on both sidesteps.
And all of this was intentionally done to get people to play the character. Otherwise, NAMCO would have rushed out the nerf patch

Honestly the general rule of thumb should be that easy characters dont get huge damage without taking huge risks but Leroy breaks that rule 10 times over. I play Eliza and with a max damage combo and 1 bar of meter you could get about 80 damage. But god damn those max damage combos are near impossible to do in a real game. Noob question here, why is it considered a 85 dmg combo when the last hit isn't counted towards the combo chain? Since the last hit breaks the chain, doesn't it mean the opponent can actually avoid the last hit?
No the opponent cant avoid the last hit
