    Jin provides the biggest variety of a character you could ever play, with pretty much most if not 90% of his moves being useful in someway, you could always switch it up. But you have to fully understand his movelist.
    So hes good, but hes extremely hard to learn. Like a beginner or even an intermediate would have a hard time using every tool jin has to his advantage all the time its pretty easy to suck with jin because of this.

      Luminethereploid lel salty jin hater incoming. Dude, jin has great tools but 100% without practice and character data you dont go anywhere. Ive played Jin since tt2, liked his character and it took me nearly 900 ranked games and 1 year of my time to get somewhere to overlord. I was a warrior pleb before I put time into doing wavedashes, electric combos and learning matchups. All characters have their weaknesses and strengths, and Jin is hardly invincible. All those great moves have their problems. F4 can be stepped, as well as his electric and hellsweep. His hellsweep is noticeably slower and thus more punishable. His jab strings can easily be interrupted and his stance cancels are all dead against generic df1.

      And by incomplete i meant he felt quite clunky. I believe what made him feel more fluid was being able to use mental alertness out his key moves and combos. Using mental alertness out of f+4 and b+3 improved his fluidity and combo potential greatly. But thats just my opinion. I feel like now jin is what he was supposed to be since tekken 4.

  • @NovaSeiken
    @NovaSeiken 5 років тому +33

    Kyokushin Jin is *conditionally* the best character in the game: it all comes down to if you have the reflex to Parry or you don't.
    Even crappy T5 Jin can wreck top tier characters by how well you Parry punish people.
    I main Kyokushin Jin since T4 days.
    T6 gave him Shun Masatsu (b2,1): nuff said.
    TTT2 gave him an offensive approach with ZEN and made his f4 the constant threat it is today: the best Jin can psychologically terrorize great players with extreme CDS/ZEN cancels, extreme stuff.
    The thing is current T7 Jin got enough buffs and tools to put him on high tier by himself without Parry included. Take Knee's Jin for example: he can't/won't Parry for sh*t (sometimes I get desperate watching Knee's Jin because of the tons of missed Parry opportunities), and still he will terrorize Capoeira as a proper counterpick. His Jin is solid despite lacking a Parry game, because of his sheer, undiluted Tekken fundamentals, second to none.

      @I apologize for my so called aggressive kisses you must be out of your fucking mind if you think jin is honest LMAOOOOO.
      A character that has that many good moves should be harder than lee, yet if you look at jin, besides his electric he doesn't have anything that's particularly "high execution" lol. I usually get "he has so many good moves that and he needs to remember to use them all. That's why he's hard." which is a fundamentally fully of shit argument. lets take Eliza for example since everyone likes complaining about he, Eliza doesn't have a single safe launching move, a lot of her moves are bad, she has limited counter hit launchers too, has the worst fireballs out of the 2D characters, her combo damage is below average at best, and a lot of her moves and strings are straight up bad to the point where she only has 5 good moves she can reliably use and even then these moves aren't particularly good either when compared to other characters, and top it all off she doesn't have good plus frame moves. So what makes Jin a more honest character or a harder character than Eliza? Eliza has harder combos than Jin if you actually want damage since you need to use multiple instant divekicks AND time them correctly, the only thing i can think of is her dive kick pressure and EVEN then her divekick pressure is SO over rated since its SO easy to deal with.
      Now lets look at Geese. Geese doesn't have a single standing launch punish if he doesn't use bar, he doesn't have good lows besides his ss3 and d4 and even then these lows both of these are bad when u compare them to lows that Jin has for example lets compare Geeses d4 to Jins d/b+4, both lows counter hit launch but jins d/b+4 is not launch punishable while geeses d4 is launch punishable, Jins d/b+4 puts him in plus frames on hit and Geeses d4 puts him at -5 on hit, and while yes geese can cancel d4 into f3 (crouchable) or f1 on hit literally every option geese goes for after his f1 is punishable in one way or another. Geese also suffers from having limited counter hit tools although its not as bad as Elizas issue, and he doesnt have a good plus frame moves on block that arent high or dont require the use of bar (i think the only one he has is back 2 which is only +2 which isnt really good when you compared it to heihachi where he has moves that give him +7 on block). And finally Geeses parry is WAY harder than Jins parry that everyone glorifies for no reason when its literally the jin is pressing like 2 buttons.
      but okay you can keep lying to yourself that jin is hard and honest just because he has an electric and that poor jin player have to remember all of his good moves :( yeah i bet gigas players are SO thankful that they dont have to deal with that issue.

    Jin has a ton of great moves. His f+3 (safe 12 frame mid with decent range), b+4 (safe high crushing mid that wall splats) and u/f+3 (safe low crushing mid ch launcher) are also good moves that people often forget about.

Jin cannot punish any of those with even a jab if he parries the last hit of those strings, or the backlash. There's tons of other moves he can't punish after a parry, those are my first 3 that came to mind for this example.

    The standing 4 buff was well implemented, it was so annoying before because we couldn't combo females and there were characters in the game not just females where you couldn't scare them for using it this uncluded akuma. Reverting the buff its not an option here, now he touches everyone for reckless play
    Every single player you mentioned using Jin, has been using Jin since Tekken 5/6 as their main.
    But since you guys want a nerf, here is some, reduce is damage output from standing 4 or Ch, change the animation for a backturned crumple stun it would help, so he could get his tradition b21, 4 combo for limited damage.

    • @mikehawk4477
      @mikehawk4477 5 років тому

      illyrian eagle that’s actually not a bad matchup, you can fish for counter hit 4s. Df2s which launches standing without even counter hit. And lee has the option of throwing another 4 after the first, also if you are extremely confident, you can do 4,3,4 which can do at least 50 percent damage, and you can use his parry with good reflexes too. The trick is to control Jin’s pressure by making him hesitant by doing the right move at the right time. Extremely solid defense and counter hits.

    • @illyrianeagle9901
      @illyrianeagle9901 5 років тому

      Mike Hawk I know Lee lol. After a few 4s the Jin player usually realizes that he needs to calm down pressing buttons and thats when i fall. Df2 has such shit range and sometimes i cant even do my go to big damage combo cause the b2f doesnt connect after 4u3.

    • @mikehawk4477
      @mikehawk4477 5 років тому

      illyrian eagle oh I understand, but just because you have him reacting to your threat of counters hit, you are already slowing down the pace and controlling the pace somewhat and not getting completely steamrolled. You can do a mini dash after the df2 for the 4,u3 into b2 to connect, or just bb4 which does like the same damage in a full combo,

    • @illyrianeagle9901

    In my eyes, Jin is *POTENTIALLY* the best character in the game. The problem with Jin does not lie in his toolkit, instead, the situation with a character like Jin is that you need to be able to have the muscle memory to remember AND utilize his bunch of good moves since most apply to different situations. Jin's gameplan isn't very straightforward because to execute a good gameplan you need to have matchup knowledge, good memory to remember the moves and some level of execution to make him work. It might sound easy when you put it like that. But for people with weak or even average fundamentals he can prove to be a challenge because he can feel overwhelming as opposed to Kazuya's very straightforward defensive or 50/50 playstyle (obviously high execution, but straightforward). Great video, big fan.

    Keep in mind 90% of high level Tekken 7 tournies have been won by JDCR/Saint/Qudans/Knee and they have legacy played their characters for years, just happen to be better than everyone else. I'm sure if they picked up Jin to main, which Knee has done (though he plays most of the roster), they'd find as much if not more success.

Literally fought this high level Jin and got counter hit launched like crazy, which caused me to rage and yell "Is there any move he has that doesn't counter hit launch?" Then the d4 buff was the cherry on top. His movelist is ridiculous and I'm glad someone's finally saying something about it. Ridiculous amount of normal and counter hit launchers, 4 of which are mid, so exactly like TMM said, good fucking luck in the 50/50.

    1. Range issues
    2. Key move execution speed
    3. Extremely vulnerable to high crushing or simple low jab
    4. No pressure without high execution. Really in general.
    5. Oki is pathetic
    6. Power crush is pathetic
    7. High crushing counter hit is basically does not exist.
    8. From crouch game is extremely weak.
    9. Panick moves are weak.
    10. Stance moves do not offer any mix up value without conversion risk.

    • @alexanderwilliams4196

      Even with all that Jin is not a bad character. He is good and in a tier list I would rank him at the bottom of A rank as of season 4. With that said you don't get any freebies with him. Winning and losing is 100% bases on the player skill at ALL levels of play. This cannot be said for most characters in this game. This is true because he is not a character the opponent needs to figure out. Meaning he is not gimmicky. Even his parry takes skill to use effectively. He is very honest and relies on the basics more than most characters. His most deceptive move would be the LLRK(hellsweep). But he does not get any openings based on frame advantage even on hit. And since his oki is trash, it doesn't present much of a threat on the ground either. Furthermore, because of his lack of high crushing momentum, inability to pit-bull without high execution and a combination of range and speed issues he is NOT BEGINNER FREINDLY.
      Now let me get this out there because we are a bunch of parrots repeating the same thing. Everyone including myself use to say Jin is hard to use. JIN IS NOT HARD TO USE. He is hard to win with in this game. It's just hard to "close the deal" with him. Because if you don't do exactly what needs to be done at any point in a match then it will feel like you're trying to win with death by a thousand cuts. Because of this it feels like you need extensive knowledge of every character in the game before you can even use him. Yes, that means the entry fee for using Jīn is to get your behind HhhhhWhoooooped by everyone and their momma before getting ~ good...nope just ok with him. And then don't take any breaks and forget any strategies or not encounter a specific character for a long time because then the butt whoopin begins all over again. Yes, I'm speaking from experience. But then again don't complain about a character before doing your homework. Also don't listen to me or the MainManSWE. Go into rank and see how good he really is. I promise you we will see eye to eye after that.
      Finally, to the MainManSWE. You have been using him a good bit lately and I believe you kind of re-educated yourself about the character. Simply put I feel you have said a lot of bs over the years about this character before really getting to know him. I would like to see after all of your experience a new video being truly honest about this character and your experience with him. I actually though abouts some more weaknesses while typing this. Jin has a lot of stance issues. But yall can figure that out yourselves. When you think about what Jin can do, please compare it to what other characters can do and you will notice that he is nowhere near the best of anything and some of the things you thought he was good with are only average if not below. Anyway, that's enough of my rant. Special shout out to spell checker.

      @@destructo3457 Unless you plan on doing f4 the entire match you will find that he actually does struggle in the range department alot when compared to just about any character in the game. F4 is good but it's obviously not what it once was. Doing the same move over and over again anyway is an good why to get beat. B2,1 is useful but not powerful at all. It's only +2 on hit including counter hit so it doesn't even give you a throw. It's -9 on block leaving you in your opponents face and it has no counter hit properties at all which is weird. When it comes down to it you need to be good at wave dashing, WD canceling and getting creative. Jin doesn't have a single move, string or mechanic that can be "abused" and because he does not benefit very much from the dumb crushing system he is harder to win with then most characters. He is mainly about fundamentals and experience which can be boring and annoying. He is the ultimate "git gud or you lose" character. Well maybe besides Kazuya but that's debatable. Anyway, what are your thoughts? I would like to know more about this "l.o.l" and what make you say that.

Even at high level play the disrespect that frequently occurs is funny to watch sometimes. With that said there are sooo many mashers that will not respect an i16 move when they are negative. When you are forced to accept this, you will have to use other moves or use movement first which is good for fundamentals. But you will see that ALOT of his move have really short range EVEN WHEN CLOSE! Here are a few moves: anything that starts with 1, 2, or 3. Df3, uf2, ff3 and obviously throws. These or CORE moves for just about any character. In comparison to most hop kicks Jin's is really short range. The mmswe made an armor king video emphasizing how crappy his hop kick is. But then he goes back and promotes it as something amazing that Jin can do...they literally have the same hop kick 🤨. When punishing with Jin you have to be meticulous with what you use. He has uf4, d3+4, wd1 and ewhf for launching punishing tools. I cannot tell you how many hop kicks I have missed, how many times d3+4 only clipped, how many time wd1 was straight up blocked and how many times I have dropped ewhf when going for a punish. At a certain point I had to ask myself is it really good to have so many niche tools or would it have been better to have a wind god fist that still launched if I made a mistake. I admit I make mistake as we all do but it feels like there is no forgiveness with Jin and you have to be a machine to play him properly sometime. But weirdly when you are successful with him it feels really rewarding.

    I agree but at the same time Jin has so many tools that you require a great knowledge of execution, strategy and his tools and which situations for when to use them in order to truly use him to his maximum potential.
    This is why even Koreans such as CherryBerryMango use mainly f4, ff3 and ewhf because they’re his best pressure tools but suffer many loses because they can’t use him to his full potential and only use certain moves that suit their play style

    Jin has significant range issues, if the opponent is constantly getting away from range 0, Jin is forced to try to get in, or get stuck using a handful of moves. His hellsweep only does significant damage if you hit at close range

The only thing for me why people think DVJ is better cause Of the hellsweep(which Jin has too) and he is more simple to use. IDK Just my opinion
