  • The drive between Salt Lake City and St George Utah can be long and a bit boring. No worries, we found some fun stops for quick stops along the way. Scipio is a quick gas stop with a fun petting zoo. The animals available seems to change a lot and was sparse this trip, but at other times there were more animals. Perhaps the summer heat is too much for them. Cove Fort is a historic site with tours and information available. Picnic tables available but no place for pets. This stop could be a quick potty break or about and hour to look around and watch the video about the fort. Beaver is a good treat stop. The Crazy Cow is a sit down restaurant. I love the onion petal bites in lieu of fries. The Creamery can be seen from the freeway but a great stop for the whole family. Pick up some squeaky cheese, a sandwich and ice cream. A fun kid educational room is interactive and a great place for kids to burn off some energy. Even a pretend cow with a milking machine is in this room for kids to learn about the dairy process. Parowan Gap has 1000s of petroglyphs in a small area. Some dinosaur tracks are here too. This could be a 20 min stop or longer depending on what your time restraints or interests are. Kolob Canyon is the back hiking entrance to Zion National Park if you have a lot of time and someone to pick you up on the other side in Zion National Park (see our Kolob Canyon video). A quick drive (15-20 min) or plan on a few hikes. Silver Reef is a historic site where you can learn about the only place on the planet where silver was found in sandstone! A small museum and walking tour is a fun stop. We'll have a future video on this stop. This stop can include a driving tour of Silver Reef sites in the city of Leeds. Once you've been past these sites you are back in civilization!
