I live just north of NYC. Your violin playing is really great! My main instrument is the drums but I've been taking violin lessons, on and off, for 6 years. I enjoy watching good violinists. you are certainly one of them. You have a very bright career ahead of you!
Hi Everyone, as I will be posting on all of my videos, I am so happy to announce that ZETA Violins, the maker of the violin in this video, has been brought back to life and is now making and selling NEW instruments! Please visit zetaviolins.com and check out the beautiful new violins they are making. As a long-time player of these violins, and now a Zeta Artist, I whole-heartedly and unreservedly recommend their violins. These are the best sounding and most beautiful electric violins on the market, and I'm so glad they're back in business, better than ever.
nice tune. nice execution. my old 5-string zeta jazz fusion sounded like that. I have a new 5-string zeta jazz fusion where they re-equalized the jean luc ponty out of it. I should be able to get it back in since I know how to eq...a lot. again...nice!!!
Wow- I didn't know you played drums too! Nice set. Your style of violin playing is really creative. I am trained classically on violin, (as I am sure you are), and I have been playing since 5 (I am 16). I sing as well. Just recently, I have become interested in Jazz violin. I also love contemporary music like R&B and pop. Listening to your music gives me more confidence that with effort and dedication, I can incorporate violin tastefully and uniquely in the style of music I aim to. Do you have any advice on switching over from classical? Do you continue to work on classical? Thanks again for the uploads! Hope to see you in the music field.
Hi Lia, thanks for watching! I sing and play violin too, although there aren't videos up here of that yet (there will be soon). In terms of switching from classical, my advice is to get off the page as much as possible. By that I mean, try to play things without using sheet music. It doesn't matter what you're playing, so long as you're improvising and being creative without relying on sheet music to help you.
I have a question please: I play mostly off the page (can still play on the page but need rehearsals. Off the page, for me, has happened many time, instantaneously, and just plain OFTEN. - Here's the question: I can teach a lot of violin technique...and have done quite well at it. Teaching mad improve skills is still illusive to me. How do you teach it? Can you?
Sounded like Jean Luc Ponty and also a little Noel Sanders and a lot of your own stuff - great work - isn't htis the ZETA you said elsewhere was bought from Jean Luc?
Like it but not nearly as much as your first. Love the bass line, like the 8th note line, wish there were some melodic changes. The first was great because of its hook and the changes, it was so easy to sing if you hadn't heard it in a long time, it was THAT catchy! Drums are a little long in the beginning, the whole thing could be fairly shorter. Of course, your playing is great as always. The drums are fantastic, I'm so glad you incorporated them! In short: I'd liked to of hear some changes.
