4S is the sweet spot for bashers, great power and light enough to not break after a single mistake. I have both the Outcast and Kraton and I agree the Kraton is best all around! I full send my Kraton off ramps all the time and have had very few breaks in the 50+ packs I’ve run through it. I have out jumped 6s and 8s vehicles with it. It has incredible air control and flies so easy. Great video, I think the comparison vids are great! Look forward to seeing more!
Not pretty decent for that price. Awesome for that price. If Traxxas released something as good as the Valkyrie, at $570 people would be saying that Traxxas is giving us such a great deal for a vehicle that outperforms the majority of 6s vehicles on the market. I know, because I own many of the 6s vehicles and they simply don't offer the same performance as the Valkyrie when talking about the stock motor and esc. That said, to unlock this performance, it is absolutely necessary to hook up a better radio/receiver which will increase the price. The stock radio is on par with a Traxxas TQI from what I saw of it.
@XWXW-lk4jf 100% agreed. The fact this thing is only $300 (let alone $240 ON SALE!!) is absolutely insane. RedCat has the 1/10 value category victory and it's not even remotely close in any way
Personal opinion of course, yours and mine, but I think you got it right. Valykrie is a great value at the sacrifice of handling. Maxx is durable but pales in comparison to the other trucks. Even the Valkyrie scored 3 or 4 points higher and is almost half the cost! The Kraton though, I think is the benchmark for 4s trucks! 💯 Thanks for the video, really great to see these 5 trucks go head-to-head 👍
Even though its 6s capable I would add the Associated MT8 to the list for consideration (along with Kagama 4s). The MT8 is similar/smaller in size than the Kraton 4s and can be had all day long for 350 (minus any 10-20%) coupons available.
Oh yeah! I love the 4s rigs that’s my wheelhouse. My personal favorite is my 4s outcast. And I’ve been mulling it over a while, and definitely plan to get the Maxx in the springtime. Great video, man.
Awesome video, thanks for sharing. I started with the Arrma Typhon 1.5 yr ago and fell in love with it so much that i now own 9 Armma vehicles. The 3 Groms, Big Rock 3s, Senton upgraded to 3s, Vorteks 3s, Granite upgraded to 3s, Mojave 6s and of course the Typhon 3s, and i must say, i enjoy all of them. Arrma vehicles are made so good and tough and i will never go into another brand.
Great in depth vid Razor. I was surprised at the K4 taking top honors considering you've been through like a dozen chassis, LOL. Curious how the Kagama 4s would've compared. Also agree with the idea that MT8/Kaiju would be in the running if I were shopping the class. I know they're 6s rated, but sized and priced similarly which makes them qualified IMO. The Maxx is a great truck, but just not at all competitive with the rest for the price.
Can't argue with the Kraton getting the win. I personally prefer the Outcast. The Valyrie is a win for anyone who buys it. It's powerful and durable enough for beginners and old timers. Dollar for dollar you cannot beat it in any size for bashers. The only one I don't have or haven't owned is the TC. I've not bought any TC rigs yet but that's soon gonna change. Every time I've been ready to pull the trigger Arrma or someone else I'm more familiar with releases a new truck that I buy instead.
I have the Maxx v2 and Valkyrie and the Valkyrie does everything better than the Maxx. Firstly, about 15 miles per hour faster capable of 64 mph out of the box. Secondly, once you hook up a Spektrum DX5, it's a completely different vehicle. It stops on a dime, tracks straight as an arrow and can carve corners nearly as good as an Arrma Talion. It also drives very smoothly and nothing to date has broken. I've been incredibly impressed with this vehicle. Outside of the parts support, I am not sure why one would waste monies on the Maxx or any of these for that matter, when something like the Valkyrie exists. I know speed is not something that is important to everyone but three of these out of the box are 50 mph trucks and the Valkyrie is a 60-65 mph truck, that is faster than most 6s vehicles let alone 4s. And, it is built very well. No brainer if you ask me.
A friend of ours has the 4s Outcast, and it is a really amazing stunt truck. 4s is the sweet spot for performance, durability, and value. We have the 3s Granite, which is great, but the 4s Outcast is awesome. And we also have the 6s Kraton and Notorious, which are both awesome, but I'm not sure they are any more fun than the 4s Outcast. 4s is where it's at! I also want a Maxx, but they are overpriced compared to the Arrma cars.
Too bad no Kagama 4? I would have pegged that one as a top contender. Any reason why you havent gotten one Razor? Maybe same reason as me and already owning a skeeter? I did the same with mine and widened it out a good bit, put on 3.8 badlands and a 6s system and its a beast! My Valkarie arrives tomorrow! Im pumped!
You just always give us what we want Razor!!! Great comparison. Gives us all exactly the info we need for decision making. Keep up the awesome work brother!!! Me, I want the Maxx for durability and yes I can admit it… I’m a Traxxas fanboy. But their pricing is slowly chipping away at that loyalty.
Have you ordered the Vitavon diffs for your Vigilante yet? At the current Redcat sale price you can get front and rear Vitavon diffs and still spend less than the Xmaxx sale price. Redcat really does offer insane value compared to everyone else. After you get the gears sorted and center diff stiffer you'll be set. I just got the Vitavon motor mount for mine so I can put in a Max 5 and big can Hobbywing motor in. I'm thinking about going with a 1100kv over 800kv for the first time ever. I've put the lower kv in my big Arrma trucks so I can run 12s but in reality with 1:1 gearing 12s is overkill. 8s and 39:39 spur and pinion is perfect in the Arrma trucks. I'm thinking the 1100kv with the same gearing in the much lighter Vigilante will be the perfect amount of violence. I'm looking forward to what you end up doing. I think the Vigilante is a great truck and I'm happy to see it getting more attention. My Xmaxx is basically dead to me since I got the Vigilante sorted.
Yes mod z1 and diffs r bigger pitch then Arma and all hardened...to me the Skeeter is the winner here to be honest...my it's been a tank sitting next to my Tekno mt410 and et48.3 😊
