I'm new to digital photo processing and chose Affinity to learn on, cost being one of the reasons. Thank you so much for your simple but comprehensive and easy to follow explanations.
Thanks for making interesting, easy-to-follow videos. I have had Affinity for a few years, and just use the basics to edit my pix. You have tickled my imagination to try other stuff! I think your subscriber count will grow by leaps and bounds, so keep at it!
This is truly amazing!! I'm currently working on an album cover for an artist and this gives me all kinds of ideas. Thank YOUUUU for yet another great tutorial!!
You're very welcome Raja! Thank you so much for watching and taking some time from your day to leave a comment for me to read, I love reading them and really appreciate it!
Thanks for sharing the knowledge. Unfortunately, I'm missing some of the basics so falling at the first hurdle. You already have the image files there as layers. can someone tell me how to import the image files into the document to start. apologies if I'm missing something really obvious but every time I open one of the image files ir opens a new document. Thanks
No worrries Ian! The way I use is to download the images first, then in Affinity Photo I go to File > Place. This will give you a prompt to find the images and then bring them into Affinity. Let me know if you need any help!
@@bydesignmethod Thanks, I wasn't sure of the language and didn't notice until viewing the tutorial on my large monitor that you'd toggle off the visibility on the images. Make a lot more sense now. Thank you.
Hey, You can bring in as many layers as you like if you go File > Place and highlight multiple files. This will allow you to drag them out and they will appear in their own layer. You could also just do them separate File > Place and then File > Place again.
I am unable to clip the alley image to the model. Whenever I drag the alley image down to the model layer, it doesn't merge into the model. In fact, nothing happens-while the layers appear connected, the visuals don't change. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, as I've followed this tutorial step by step. :(
Hey Mary, I would try one thing - before you try to merge them RIGHT click your mouse on the alley picture and select 'rasterize' - do the same for the model picture. Then try to connect them. Sometimes Affinity needs that. Let me know, I'd like to be able to help you.
@@bydesignmethod Thank you so much, it worked.😊I was stuck at adding a new fill layer. In my version of Affinity, the interface seems a bit different. There was no option to add a fill layer. I could only add a new layer or a new pixel layer, but both were empty, like I couldn't apply anything to them. So I rasterized the new layer and used the Flood Fill tool to add black color, but now I'm having trouble adding noise. Nothing changes when i add noise. The layer remains plain black. Any suggestions would be really helpful.
@@maryamrafique4498 Are you trying to add noise via the slider above the layers panel? you could also try adding noise via 'Layer > New Live Filter Layer' - do you know if you're using Affinity V1 or V2 (it should tell you the version in the 'about' section at the top)
I really need to get this on the iPad to do some testing. How far are you getting Mike? you can make the selection, then when you select the filter it just doesn't do anything? let me know!
When I first watched this video, I thought it was terrific. So I downloaded the files and tried to follow your instructions. Impossible. You explain well the results of your actions but never the how or why. This was a disaster for me - a waste of time. I have followed a few of your tutorials before and they were OK. Not this one. Getting the gradient was impossible.
Hey Gordon I'm sorry to hear that - if possible can you tell me where it seemed to go off-course for you? I'd like to try and correct it. The video has mostly good reviews but I'd like to know how I could fix this. Thank you.

Happy to help Richard, you made a great choice with Affinity!

Great video. You make it look so easy. Tried to replicate what you did...erm, need to watch this video again
You can do it! Some of the technique's are advanced. If I can do it, you can too! It's just repetition on my end.
Really enjoyed thanks - so creative, great tutorial and gets me exploring more of Affinity which had always been a bit of a mystery. 😻
