"free selection", so I can select audio without cutting it. When I select audio, I don't want it to automatically select the whole clip or me have to splice/cut it....if #Imageline #fIstudio adds that...... TRUE

I need to thank you for explaining the Bus to me that made sense right away. Many on the internet try to make themselves look impressive and dance around a subject almost in what looks like an attempt to gain more air time than deliver the important information. I am a 62 yr old performing classical pianist most of my life and composer the past several years. Never use the BUS until you explained it correctly. Studio One DAW. It lightens my work flow and allows my computer to run smoothly. That was 2 days ago. I am now following you and look forward to your subject matter. You get to the point and are a good teacher. thanks. Farmer George Pianist Composer

As a long-time user of the Fruity Loops (FL Studio) platform, this was refreshing to listen to. I used FL since version 3.56 and I've always enjoyed the pattern style workflow. I made tracks in Reasons 3 and 4 as well. I love the stock sounds of Reasons much better, but it's always been easier to manipulate sounds in FL. I also like that I can take parts of the song and group them by labeling the patterns so that I drop parts down in the playlist. Good talk fellas...✊🏽

Personally, I feel like LJ talks about his love of FL Studio all the time. This is one of favourite podcasts and I love watching you guys, but I'm Ableton gang and I feel like Ableton needs some more respect on this podcast. I feel like Courtney doesn't get to talk as much as LJ or Devvon and he should get to speak more about Ableton and how great it is. That being said, I do agree that FL Studio and Pro Tools have been making great improvements and listening to their community and the new Ableton update leaves some room for improvement. Two things I would love to see implemented is bounce in place (Logic style) and clip gaining (Pro Tools). They just added the feature Pro Tools has to zoom in on the waveform without actually boosting volume (visual feature).
In terms of workflow, production, sound design and of course live performing, Ableton is simply the top dawg. It's really quick to get things done, which I don't find as much with other DAWs I have used (FL, Pro Tools, Logic). Also Max 4 Live is endless and the stock plugins are incredible. It's crazy what you can do if you just mess around with them for a bit. Also I think Ableton's ethos is just unique, the way it approaches audio and production is so different and futuristic. It feels and looks different from all other daws. The only other Major DAW I think has this uniqueness is FL Studio.
One DAW I quite like is Studio One, which I've played around with, especially for mixing. Even though I'd never used it I could quickly understand the workflow. I think you guys should try it out!!! Cubase as well cause they just had a major update too, so we can see the development of all the daws. I felt that Cubase and Studio One are very similar from what I can tell.
Ableton needs the respect, for it's every bit as good as any other DAWs. Love all the DAWs (but Ableton is GOAT lol). Peace ☮ and love ❤

10 years ago Reaper had almost 1M users. Every time another DAW gets some "EPIC" update, Reaper users roll their eyes because we've had those features for years. Every time users of other DAWs have had to deal with some crisis, forced on them by inept or greedy manufacturers, Reaper users cannot relate. There isn't a better community for any audio software, AT ALL. All we get is a shout-out in passing from people who are routinely abused by their favorite DAW's manufacturer. "Audio Nerds" deserve to know the land of milk and honey that is Reaper. Deadmaus and Hans Zimmer might not be available but there are scores of other Reaper users who would gladly come on and put on a clinic for you. Afterwards, you can even have an altar call so we can save some of you poor lost souls. 😂❤🎹🎧

    • @HuChing-ob4kk
      @HuChing-ob4kk 9 місяців тому

I tried reaper..Im just too advanced for it. Different DAWS are for different levels of people. I started using MOTU in 1997, used Cakewalk Sonar in 1999, I like Studio One because it picked up where Cakewalk fell when it was bought buy Roland in 2018. DAWS are categorized by the level of musicanship possessed by the users.
Professional user cant use Reaper or Fl studio..FL Studio is a limited step sequencer Toy and Reaper is an entry level DAW for the average person not that advanced to need Cakewalk, Nuendo, Cubase or Pro Tools..real PROFESSIONAL tools. Studio One is probably the ONLY capable DAW for the average person to do REAL professional power work...
People just get too emotionally att6ached to these DAWS....a Volkswagen Jetta is NOT a BMW..and people should get mad when told it is NOT

    Quick tips :
    1. just right click on the plus icon in channel rack, and it opens up the plugin window, not the list one, the more pretty big one...and you can type right there to search, and hit enter to add. It's neat.
    2. You can also rename plugins in fl, in windows. If you put numbers 1-9 before the actual name of the oluign, u hit that number and that plugin will be pop in channel rack. So u can have 10 of your fav plugins right there...
    3. You can also create your own categories in fl browser and tell samples to show up in specific categories. You can colour them and give them a symbol...for e.g. I have different genres as categories.
Please tell me some tips gang.

I don't see much discussion on Steinberg here but Nuendo is really the most powerful Daw on the market.

BEcause FL Studio people arent musicians, professionals or talented..FL Studio is made for a different purpose. Every REAL professional knows Nuendo is the DAW for music, movie scoring, Dolby Atmos, etc,,but remember Fl Studio users ar NOT PROFESSONALS and Ableton is made for EDM...everything has a different purpose and capability

Protools are used in Major studios around the world!! It's so huge that software updates are slow moving. Turning a BIG ship takes a longer time than speed boats. FL, Ableton, etc., are the speedboats of the industry.

FL Stuido Abelton are NOT DAWS..and arent made for the same purposes as Nuendo, Cubase, Pro Tools (that are real DAWS)...youd do better with Cubase or Nuendo, Studio One or Cakewalk over pro Tools. Teh problem is the name DAW has been applied as a generic term

If you really using FL, you know you won’t use that sexy plug-in pop up screen cus that’ll glitch out your session if you aren’t careful.

Cubase and Nuendo..Studio One is for those on a budget but hangs with Cubase and Nuendo. Cakewalk is on there too but they wer ein ahlding pattern after being bought by Roland in 2018. Everything after that is just fo rnon professional people who dont know the difference anyway

i would love to come on the show to really show how all these producers don't have extensive enough experience in each DAW to actually make an informed suggestions outside of what their own music POV is.... With having Blackbird studio level experience in Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Reason, Studio One, Cubase, and Ableton Live, and a small amount of experience on FL due to its massive limitations over the years in tracking live instruments, it would be nice to see someone who is able to show how the different DAWs have started and where they are now, because some of these DAWs started lightyears ahead where some have been around for ages and still are playing off of old programing and coding.
