I have been fascinated with Peru beginning with the Time/Life series of books about science and nature. "Mountains" was the first one my Dad bought me for my tenth birthday about all the great mountains of the world. But the Andes really stood out from all the other great mountains. They were way more interesting than even the Himalayas, which seemed to be mostly snow and rocks. Ten years later when I was in college I saw a German film by Werner Herzog titled "Aguirre, The Wrath of God" (1973) shot on location in the Andes in Peru. The first 5 minutes of the film made everyone in the small campus theater absolutley spellbound at the incredible scene of dozens of Spaniards and Conquistadors in the 16th century descending the Peruvian Andes covered with rain forest and mist mixed with clouds. And the music added very much to the surreal scene performed by Florian Fricke playing a choir organ, an ethereal sounding instrument similar to a Mellotron that uses tape recordings of each note that was sung by a real choir in a 4 octave range that was spliced to be assembled to be played by a 4 octave keyboard. The whole film shows how stunningly beautiful and dangerous the rain forest is. It's one of the greatest films ever made. Watch it on UA-cam here: ua-cam.com/video/8u2tooYxicE/v-deo.html
Herzog would return to Peru 7 years later to make another film called "Fitzcarraldo" (1980) which shows more of the beauty of Peru.

Hello! I cannot seem to find that red lake from 1:27. You said that it is near rainbow mountain but I don't see it anywhere. Can you give more specifics as to where it is located?
if ur hiking up to vinicunca its to the left about a mile, called chocolate lake!
