    Some people are complaining the sound is too low. Not sure what is going on, as it sounds fine for me. During the premiere, some said it was too quiet, others said it was fine. So I have added in subtitles. Hopefully it helps. I am not sure what else to do. Also be sure to check that the volume slider on the actual video is turned up all the way (where you would click to mute or unmute). Sorry for the inconvenience!
    Edit: If you are still having trouble hearing, please try this version of the video, which has the volume boosted: ua-cam.com/video/-kGT2yNY6OQ/v-deo.html

    Even from a materialist perspective, the fact that human females do not die at menopause is perplexing. Most mammals die when the menstrual cycle stops, but humans do not, indicating that women have an evolutionary function that persists long after they are capable of producing children. One prominent theory to explain it is the "grandmother hypothesis" which argues that childcare was not the role of the actual mother alone, but of numerous elderly females, whose accumulative knowledge was valuable for young and inexperienced mothers.

      @dazbogs Men accumulate more mutations in their sperm. A woman is born with all the eggs she will ever have, so said mutation usually only happens via radiation or disease.

    Such a beautiful video. Brought me to tears. I’m in my early 40’s and my children are grown so it’s now my husband and I as empty nesters. My daughter is getting ready to get married and I very much look forward to having grandchildren. My future son-in-law and my daughter already look to me as the matriarch, full of wisdom and insight. We talk for hours and they soak it all up in awe. It’s really wonderful.
    I’m at this stage of my life where I’m no longer young but I’m not old either and yet I have absolutely no desire to desperately chase my youth or be the modern milf or the eccentric old lady. I’m at the crossroads you speak of-I’m not invisible yet but I’m not as visible as I used to be either. I’m in the middle of learning how to adjust. But I find the next stages of my life to be exciting-where I can read more, create more and truly enjoy my leisure time in learning and doing.
    Thank you for creating this lovely and informative work. Very helpful to me to come across it at this juncture in my life. ❤️

    I could not sleep and so I stayed up to watch this twice. It is very good and very helpful to me. I have to leave my husband now in my mid 30s because for years he has lied to me about wanting children, which is all I ever wanted. But he always has excuses why it is not the right time and it turns out he does not actually want children and just lied to me for so long. So I will move on and hope it is not too late for me. But I worry about what I will do if it is too late and this video is really helpful to put things in perspective. I like all of your videos but this one might be my favourite now. I will probably watch it a few times more.

      Many young men in right wing circles always implore women to have more babies, but they never consider the likelihood that many women are in situations where they cannot have children because their husbands simply fail to live up to their part of the bargain.

      @@virtuousstr8477 Yes we always get blamed but women want children more than men do. All I ever wanted was to be a mother. I don't know what else I will do with my life. And then they tell us that we are old and ugly and used up after the age of 30. I tried so hard to convince him to have children but we always don't have enough money or a big enough home or he wants to finish his studies or travel more or many other excuses. And I finally did realise that the right time for him would be never but I wasted so many years because if we want to divorce our husbands, we are the villains. So I stayed out of loyalty and now he has become so mean about it and I still will not get any children. Now he acts like the victim because I want to leave. It is hard not to be bitter and angry. And I am not the only one. I know several other women who wanted children and their husbands wasted all their years lying about it. But I never see anyone talk about this.

      What a sad story. Sorry to hear what you're going through. I had a girlfriend who broke up with me because I didn't want to get married or have kids. She was a great girl. I didn't appreciate back then what I had. I was just a nihilist who didn't want any responsibility in life. Cat's videos have helped me a lot with that. I regret now that I wasted her time. She ended up marrying someone else. At the time, I thought I was the victim, too. I was mad at her for leaving me over what I thought was a stupid issue and I felt betrayed. Took me awhile to realize I was the one in the wrong. Maybe your husband will eventually realize that, too. But I think you're right to leave him, just as my girlfriend was right to leave me. I hope you can find a better man. There's still time.

    This is really interesting. Makes me introspect. I had kids very young, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but one aspect of it that can be difficult is reaching that transition from mother to crone a lot earlier than expected. I am thinking now about ten years down the road and how I don't want to have an empty nest at that point in my life.
    So, I do want to have another child. I don't think for me personally it's a fear of age, but possibly a bit of ego as "mother" defines me to a point of fear of what's after that. I suposse a crone can be a "mother" to her community and that's how I see myself acting when I'm older. There's always motherless girls who can benefit from the wisdom of older women in their lives.
    I've always admired the wisdom of the crone. Many of them have had a positive impact on my life and I'd love to bring it full circle for someone else.

    When a woman reaches a certain age a new way of living is needed once her children leave home and the beauty fades to whom she may or may not have a husband in her life. I think the sense that women are lost is very real; hence many women are miserable these days most often the case in America.
    In Eastern Europe you do see a baby boom emerging (see articles on the search engines ) so I think the older woman now has a new role as a grandmother; therefore it"s likely they will help in raising a new baby boom in the east.

    You used a false eytmology in this video. Hag does not come from "halig" or "holy". Hag comes from Old English hægtesse "witch" which is cognate with German Hexe - both come from Proto-Germanic hagatusjǭ which probably also means "witch". Holy and halig are from Proto-Germanic *hailagaz (“holy, bringing health”), from Proto-Germanic *hailaz (“healthy”), equivalent to hāl (“whole”). They are not cognates

    I am a home birth and bereavement doula, and I have long called childbirth a woman's "hero's journey." It's absolutely necessary to surrender in childbirth and trust your intuition. During phase 1 (dilation), you have to fully surrender; tensing or fighting will make things move slower and more painfully. Transition (dilation from 8-10cm) is death - most women feel they are about to be split in half. It's the transition from maiden to mother. In the third stage (pushing), women usually now take an active role, pushing with their contractions to birth their baby and thus be reborn themselves. Childbirth is a deeply internal transformation, and it represents the surrender, passive, and slowness necessary in our own spiritual growth.
    As a birth worker, especially in home birth, it's unbelievably clear how insane it is that women of childbearing age are filling this role. We are turning to paying doulas for support in labor rather than relying on the older women in our community. There is a serious lack of support for new mothers, and most of a woman's friends either don't know how to help or are too busy with their own brood to led much assistance. We NEED the older, wiser women to be filling this role.
    I also see this in the "bounce back" culture. A new mother is so preoccupied with returning to her "maiden" body - something she will never get back - often overworking her body to the detriment of herself and her child. Again, a crone could be a guiding light in this monumental transition.

    "One of the outstanding teachings of Taoism is the strength of weakness. The yin power of passivity is more enduring than the yang force of direct action; the one has controlled, sustained power, the other is quickly spent and dissipated. This strength-in-weakness is also connected with the symbolism of the valley and the womb. It is that which receives and accepts all things, but from which, in turn, all things emerge. It is because it is the lowest, humblest place that the valley receives the full force of the waters which fall into it from high, yang places. Majestic waterfalls and turbulent mountain torrents, for all their power, come down to the lowly and are absorbed by it and converted into the deep-flowing, broad, quiet and irresistible forces of the rivers, lakes and oceans, the yin principle." Taoism the Way of the Mystic, Jean Cooper

      Love that! This is a beautiful way of describing feminine energy, which seems to be under appreciated nowadays- since many modern women view femininity/feminine energy as weak, and they take on a masculine way of being. In reality feminine/yin energy is powerful in its own way, just different. Buy

    Men of middle-age and older appear not to be discarded by society because you're focusing on the most materially-successful men. Try being a middle-aged man and make new friends. You will quickly find out you're regarded as worth only the numbers on your bank account, perhaps even to your own family. There is a definite "Why haven't you died already?" attitude toward men over 40 who are not materially supporting females and/or children.

    Very wise words. I really appreciated this and would be interested in hearing more on this subject. I am in my 50s and my youngest left for college last year. It was very hard to transition to an empty house and not have anyone to take care of anymore. I thought I would enjoy not having to pick up after kids anymore, but I found that I don't really know what to do with myself and that I don't have much of a life outside my children...who are now busy living their own lives and aren't very interested in their poor old mother anymore! I'm going to think on what you said and ponder over how to become a "post-menopausal woman with zest" as your title screen suggests! (Love that phrase, going to steal it!) If it is not too rude, can I ask how old you are? You look very young but I heard you have children that are teenagers and you must have either had them very early or you are a lot older than you look! In any case, thank you for the wonderful gift that this video is. I will be sharing it with my friends at church who are all in the same boat.

    You assert that masculine 'sage' equates to intellect, and feminine 'crone' to wisdom, but I'd argue a better interpretation would be:
    The Masculine Sage epitomizes the Fire-element: Mastery of Will, & Knowledge of what is in Heaven
    The Feminine Crone epitomizes the Earth-element: Master of Nature, & Knowledge of what is on Earth.
    Also, "crone" could simply derive from "Cron": Time / Aged / Old.

    i always was reluctant to call a woman a woman. girl fitted so much better for most of them, why call them women when they reach a certain age. pointless. same for guys, most are boys well into their late 20s.
    it is responsibillity that makes you a man or a woman.
    and usually becoming a mother gives a girl the responsibillity to appear more like a woman and less like a girl.
    virgin/girl - mother - crone
    perfect descriptions of the timeline a female has to be a valuable part of society.
    only sad when a woman is too old to become a mother because she wasted her youth earning coins and now does not even have the societal wisdom to be a useful crone. (invention of the miserable catlady)
    love the word CRONE it is so fitting, rolls over the tongue without any negativity (and i get the image of my grandmother in the head when thinking about a crone)

      @cor3944 4 роки тому +1

      I don’t think so. An older woman can offer her wisdom and can teach. At the other hand she can use the free time to be more creative.

    • @PhilosophiCat
      @PhilosophiCat  4 роки тому +1

      Hi, Kyle, Good question. It's not that they should become more masculine in terms of taking on the external affectations of masculinity, but rather to integrate the masculine principle, the active force, within themselves. We all have an active/masculine and passive/feminine force within us and to a degree, our biological sex dictates which one is expressed more, although we can see the opposite expression occur in those who are anima or animus possessed (a larger topic for another time perhaps).
      When it comes to cultivating wisdom, we can think of women as being more naturally in touch with intuition. It's not that women have no capacity for logic and rationality, but that often, especially in young women, it is not fully integrated, as that is part of the masculine principle. So in saying that women must develop their masculine principle, what we are really saying, in a practical sense, is that they need to develop their logic and rationality, but also their capacity for self-reliance.
      I think it can be hard for a man to fully understand what it is like for a woman to be so other-oriented, to feel like we "need" to have someone else to orient our lives and our roles around. Women without that can feel lost or turn to antisocial behaviour as they attempt to LARP as men. But as women age, we need to learn not to be so dependent on the other for defining ourselves. So this means developing emotional self-reliance, intellectual self-reliance, etc. We need to become grounded in our own Being.
      Men can do this more naturally, if they are healthy and well integrated (the modern man is another story) because their ontological nature is just simply more suited to that. But the reverse is then true for the sage. He must get more in touch with his inner feminine principle, develop his intuition and relational side. Think of some aged spiritual monk or guru who has a quiet wisdom and knows how to talk to and guide others.
      Pythagoras illustrated this with his theory of numbers, assigning 1, the monad, to the active masculine principle, and 2, the duad, to the feminine. If it's a subject you're interested in, reading up on that topic may shed some additional light on the differing natures of men and women and what they produce when properly united into a triad.
      Hope that answers your question!

      @@astralaion2438 Yes, the whole losing weight thing was patronising, considering she had health issues related to a bad injury, and the whole "You see all this (her and the other pregnant ladies on the show) and still you don't get pregnant" was weird, because you never know, when you speak to someone, WHY they can't get pregnant, so maybe bringing it up like that is not really appropriate. Then Henrik mentioning the demographics and "It is what it is" about having to have babies...For example I'm past my fertile window, I have two kids, I would feel really bad about someone making those comments to me when I'm simply not physically able to have children anymore. I also put on weight through my menopause and being a health issue it would be unfair to bring it up as if it was because I've been stuffing my face with junk! Basically, I thought Lana was a bit of a bitch. Sorry, but she was.

    • @astralaion2438
      @astralaion2438 4 роки тому +2

      @@stellinanotaro6501 I don't know what her health issues were but it seemed rude to comment on it, especially as the first thing that was said. And then to ask about something so personal as having children. I don't know if she does or doesn't have children, but people have infertility issues or bad relationships or miscarriages or all kinds of things, so it can be a really painful subject to bring up. After my first, I had two miscarriages and people would always ask when we would give our son a sibling and they had no idea how heartbreaking that was to hear and how hard we tried to do just that. People would accuse us of being selfish for not having more children while I was crying myself to sleep every night because I felt like such a failure as a woman. I hate the constant nosiness and demands from people on the right about women having children because it is no one else's business and it can be such a painful and personal topic. I would have expected better from someone like Lana and I lost some respect for her the way she handled that. Or even if someone has children, it is safer to keep that private and so it shouldn't be brought up without the other person's permission because maybe she has kids and keeps it secret to protect her family. I won't cancel my Red Ice membership over it or anything because I still like most of what they do, but damn, that was way out of line. Women should support each other!

    I cringe everytime you say the word crone. Like almost all words used to describe women it has been dragged through the mud. All words like mistress, queen, madam, princess and even lady have been diminished. Crone brings up images of witches now. In my head I am changing the word to matron. Nice video

    • @PhilosophiCat

      Yes, "crone" came to have a negative connotation (much like "hag"), but the origin of the word is quite noble and I would like to rehabilitate the term!

    right wing female advice and guide to living is a great growth opportunity going forward, there even is the potential for feminism to become more right wing and truly anti-capitalist. But I think you need to make a choice on whether you consciously attract women or men to your channel, you can't have both. When a woman teaches a man's thoughts, she is mostly seen as just a child by the men, a soft form of attention-seeking.
